Everyone else was comparing notes on the slime but not getting much. Tante Lude didn't remember ever studying such things at all.

Nyx and Tante Lude risks going closer to the slime to see if they a better understanding of what it is.
But all you can tell it is not an Ooze - not an alive mass of slime, but the puddles of slime are thick enough to at least slow down your movement through. Would it have any effect on your heath or your equipment - common sense say it shouldn't but then again in this dungeon lot of things work against common sense...

Orsik will light a torch and walk up and touch the slime with it.

Nyx searches the walls and ceiling for any small holes that a fluid might pour or spray through.

Walls high quality and made of stone - Nyx find no gaps there, but the ceiling have cracks and small holes - less than inch wide.
Orsik touch smile with a torch and his torch for no visual effect, though slime is now covering the top of his torch. It is now clear that slime is viscous and Orsik don't risk slime running down on his arm holding the torch.

All right, Criella, if you can carry me over the slime, I'll check for a secret door up there. If that fails, we should just take another path.

Tante Lude pove her skills and find a tiny spot that pushed and turned cause wall to move sideways opening a hall that is choked with dust and cobwebs. To you right flickering lights dimly illuminate a larger hall running perpendicular to this one. You notice a skeleton frightened by your appearance to disappear into the hall. You also notices it's head looks strange.

To your left puddle of gray slime and hallway that turns right and most probably lead into the gigantic stone cog.

Where the two halls meet, words have been scrawled on the ceiling in dried blood.
The words reads as "AWAKEN NAPAKA!"

Nice.

Tante reached into her backpack and tossed a ration loaf onto the floor near to (but NOT into) the grey slime. It would be nice to know if this was passive like the one they had just flown over, or active and reaching for potential food.

Nyx send Zim ahead to keep an eye on the others while considering how to cross the hallway, still unsure if the grey fluid is safe

We may be over analyzing this. I am now assuming the grey slime is like the pink mold of earlier levels, since DM would not allow it to be targeted as a creature. But as an unknown it is bothering me

For a great surprise slime keeps pretending to be slime even when food presented.
Tinkara carry over Nyx and Orsik. Tinkara and monkey fly their own. Only celestial stay behind being too big to fly or be carried.

Hey there's normal slime and there's intelligent mobile slime. I like to know what I'm dealing with.
Tante Lude picked her food back up.

Celestial is too big to fly but can it come crawling and taking whatever damage the slime will do to it? IF so, it does that.

I will check to the north, watch the south Nyx informs the others as he sends Zim to quietly examine the passage to the north while he follows behind examining everything.
