Welcome to the game! I’ll have more information up tomorrow morning, but in the meantime, feel free to chat or ask questions.

Just a quick question for character creation....will we be arriving with equipment/gold?
I am assuming we decided that we wouldn't know that we're in a Game which is good ....but we do remember our lives in the real world?

Go ahead and pick your starting equipment. You won’t have it when you first arrive in the world but you’ll find it soon thereafter.

Yes, you will remember your lives in the real world. I’ll give a more detailed description of things tomorrow.

I look forward to it. :)

Alright, now that we're all here, let's start making some characters! Follow the rules as normal for creating a 1st-level character. As you are playing a version of yourself, you can either choose a background that relates to who you were on Earth or who your new persona is on Golarion. You can spend your starting gold on equipment, but you won't have access to it when you first arrive in the world. You'll appear in whatever clothes you were wearing when you pulled into Golarion from Earth, but you'll find your starting gear shortly thereafter.

Your characters will remember everything from their lives on Earth. For all intents and purposes, that Earth is the same as the one we live in, except that there is no Pathfinder roleplaying game. You will find yourselves in an unfamiliar fantasy world with magic and mystery! Exploring and learning will be part of the fun.

If anybody has a favorite part of Golarion in which they might want to adventure, let me know and I'll try to potentially work it in at some point. If not, that's okay too. I'll decide myself in that case. :)

For reference, here is what everybody listed as their character concepts in the recruitment thread:

cellarnovice: Human (Versitale Heritage) Fighter (Druid Dedication)
Drifter Dwarf: Monk
Kristian: Dwarf Fighter

It's a martial-heavy lineup, but that can be fun. :D

Are there any restrictions on ancestry or classes or anything?
Feb 7, 2025 2:19 pm
No, feel free to choose anything you'd like from a first party source. Uncommon and rare choices are acceptable, too.

Just to spruce things up, I’ll modify my character concept to a Druid with a fighter dedication. With my schedule, I’ll also be submitting my character later today if that works! Looking forward to it!

@Dmbrainiac with fighter we would be a bit low on skills. I could also play a Rogue and later take the two weapon fighter archetype....I could work out a concept for that as well .....let me know what you think.

It’s your choice Kristian, whichever you think you’ll enjoy the most.

I like that answer :) I always feel like it is more important to play the character you like than party balance.

I always feel a bit overwhelmed taking on P2E character creation coming over from D&D 5E. So many choices at level 1. I'll work on it tonight after work, but might take me a bit to hammer everything out.

You're not alone in that at all. Systems I usually play are definitely simpler at the start for sure. For ancestry, I'm definitely going to play a fetchling. Classes are far more complicated, but I'm trying to narrow it down between Animist, Oracle, Exemplar, Summoner, or Witch.

If anyone is more experienced and has recommendations based on the complexity of the classes I listed, I'd appreciate it. Essentially, I want my character to be able to serve as a conduit for a supernatural force or power. Not so much a god as something more personal.

So I checked the world guide and I think Mwangi Expanse or the Cheliax region both might be a nice starting point. Again i do know only a small fraction as I mostly played homebrews and ran a couple of adventure paths. So by skimming through the World guide I chose those as they're not Absalom which is a bit overrepresented being the center of the lore.

@TheForsakenEvil: Out of those, I’d say the witch is probably the least complicated to play, followed by oracle and then exemplar.

Had to lookup what a Fetchling was :) Cool choice.

so far I've got "Monk... " just a few more details to go - LOL

If we're playing the remaster rules they made very good changes to the Oracle and the witch which makes them more streamlined and the Oracle less punishing but still complex.

There is no space for the backstory at the Pathfinder 2e character sheet.

Thanks a bunch for the information, gang! After much consideration, I've decided on Oracle with the Mystery of Flames. :)

Yeah, I saw them and immediately knew it was my go to, haha. Edgy shadow people is absolutely in line with my interests. Class was wayyy harder to choose for me. Hopefully we can hammer out the rest without too much difficulty.

Hey All so I changed from Fighter to Rogue as I thought that we could use some skills.
So human / Rogue (Thief Racket) and I will chose the Two-Weapon fighter Archetype.
So still more martial oriented but with more stuff to do.
