And Mauritter's strictness doesn't bug me because it's modeling... mice. ;)

Yeah I noticed I was full up, and wouldn’t be great on a fight. Sounds like maybe I can offload the big wine tap to Wren though maybe? I’m also packing extra rations mostly for RP reasons, so if three of us eat from my stash next time we need to it’ll sort me out.

I’m also open to houseruling. Adding something like two backpack slots should be enough maybe?

Harrigan says:

Nessa: Is that 'Storybook' the book that Vivian just handed over? If it is, you have a few slots free still.
Nope that was from character generation. But I guess I'll continue to be fine on inventory for now. ;)

*edit*
Guys! Next time we do some sort of investigation, remind me that I have an amulet that detects magic. I totally forgot about it. :S

Sable has 3 rations too. Is it possible to take Gann's rations and combine it to 6 to free up a slot for him so he doesn't have 0 HP?

Ha ha, sounds good about the magic detecting amulet!

Alright!

If you’re all okay with it, I’m going to make some minor updates to your sheets to improve how I modeled the inventory system and how it interacts with fatigue mechanics and such.
Beyond that…

-Rules as written, small items (torches, rations, etc.) can be bundled — but only in groups of 3.

-Adding a couple of slots for the backpack would be easy enough. Let’s keep it in mind if the core rules prove problematic / too limiting.

-Nessa — ah, that’s your storybook! Now given away. Replace it with the Fey book! (And remember that amulet!😏)

If we find the inventory system too restrictive, making the bundles bigger could be an easy way to alleviate some of the trouble without much knock on effects on anything else.

Yep. There are lots of options we can explore if it comes to that.

Also, just checking in again on pace, content, vibe of the game. All good? Anything to tweak?

All good here and really enjoying the vibe of the NPCs! Sounds good about the potential inventory updates.

Inventories updated -- just added a couple of notes to keep us on the straight and narrow. (I thought I was going to have to add a Fatigue checkbox, but I already covered that!)

Glad you're enjoying the NPCs.

All good I think. Actually, I am kind of amazed at the pace. For a PbP game this is moving along at a decent speed.

I'm having a blast! All good here.

Yep same, happy with how things have been!

Great to hear! I think we do have good pace -- which is *so* key for PbP. You four are a big part of that -- thanks for keeping up with the game, even when your own PCs are perhaps not the focus of a particular scene. It's fun to see a group engage so readily and dynamically with a lot of the module's non-exploring / fighting / delving content. That'll all come -- we're headed in that direction now, I think!

Just dropped a house rule down for healing. See what you think:

• Attribute loss (see Critical Damage) is restored at the rate of one point per day when resting in a safe place. That rates is doubled if in the care of a healer or physician, and may be increased further depending on the nature of the injury and the healing agents on-hand. One week's rest will normally restore all lost attribute points.

In the current scene, this probably means Gann could recover 2-3 points of STR in a day.
Jun 14, 2025 2:44 pm
What time of day is it? I imagined we were still in the morning or maybe around lunchtime, so stopping now would be a big loss. But if Vivian is talking about dinner, perhaps leaving into the woods at this time of day would be a mistake anyway.

The houserule is generous, up to you if you want to include it. Still unsure if Gann and the party are willing to lose the time, given the urgency. I think it's just an awkward situation because the damage came as we were setting out. If we were a few levels deep in a dungeon there'd be little choice!

I'm also a little confused at Vivian's reaction. There wasn't really any warning, she all but encouraged us but thought there wouldn't be much of value. Did we misread that answer when I asked about fishing in the pond?

Pausing here for a moment since I missed a post that suggested moving on instead of lingering, and Sudo's asked some good questions.

If you check here, you'll recall that you spent the morning in town, and didn't get underway until about mid-day.

It was only about an hour of straight travel to Vivians, but you stopped at the abandoned farm, talked with the nixies, spoke with Vivian... let's call it now mid-afternoon. Technically, by Cairn watches, it is Afternoon. So, less of a time loss than you might be thinking unless you were planning to travel after dark.

Still -- it's your call. My erroneous read was that you were going to see what she could do and stay briefly. I'll let you know now that straight / instant magical healing is a rare, rare thing in my OSR games. Vivian's care would help, but take time -- like several hours or ideally overnight.

Regarding Vivian's reaction, she's a batty old lady. She neglected to mention anything other than 'have at it!' She just probably doesn't remember it that way.

So -- what's the plan?

It's perhaps obvious to say, but you could also leave Gann behind, or search for a few hours in the afternoon and return to Vivian's, or to Brandonsford.
