Once upon a time, the world was cruel, and there was a witch who knew it well, and so she sold her heart to build a house in the woods where the world could never find her. At first she would let no one into her fortress. But in the long march of days, a strange thing happened: in her own cold and spiteful way, the witch made a friend…and then another…and then several more, until her house was teeming with colorful faces and complicated lives.

The house would come to be known as Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast, and it would last for a very long time....

Hello, everybody! I've been running a game of Yazeba's B&B here for a little over a year now. Recently, @FlyingSucculent inquired about starting another game with a somewhat more relaxed posting rate, so I'm testing the waters here to see if anybody else would be interested in starting the journey with us from the beginning rather than jumping into a game with a year's worth of history already. If we can get another 2 or 3 interested players, I'll open up a second game. This one would have an expected posting rate of about 3 times per week. Here's a bit more information about the game itself:

Welcome to Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast, a slice-of-life tabletop RPG about a heartless witch, a peaceful house, and all the folks who have made their home inside. Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast is played over the course of several chapters, each of which is a 1 to 2-hour scenario with its own unique but quick-to-learn rules. Players can take control of one of the 7 long-term residents of the B&B or choose from a cast of 50 quirky guests, each of whom has their own ongoing storylines.

The adventures contained within each chapter include lazy afternoons, frightful nights, insurmountable chores, and zany competitions, so every play session is full of surprises. There are bespoke game rules for overcoming mountains of laundry, picking berries, surviving a trip to the scary basement, naming constellations, and everything else that matters in a slice-of-life story. These mechanics are simple and modular, meaning you only need to know the rules for the chapter in front of you. It can take as little as 15 minutes to start playing.

After each chapter, we’ll be able to make changes to our characters and to the book—unlocking new guests and chapters and advancing the individual storylines of each character who played. Whether they've traded their heart away for magic powers or are just doing the everyday business of growing up, everything about a character can change through play, including their core identities.

Yazeba's unusual blend of premade characters, modular rules, and legacy mechanics makes it a perfect game for pick-up play: busy players can drop in and out without ever feeling lost, and anyone who wants to jump in can make a long-term impact without a long-term commitment.

Aye-aye, I'm here for the chill (or hot, since I want to play a fire elemental) vibes! :3 Join me, folks!

Bumping for visibility, hoping to get a few takers. :)

I looked at your other game (the first one) not so long ago. The concept seemed interesting to me, but I didn't read all the details of gameplay.

On a more chill posting rate, I would be interested in trying it!
I've played a game with FlyingSucculent before which I really enjoyed. Hopefully she felt the same way 😁

I’m curious about this game! I think I’d like to give it a spin.

Awesome! That's enough interest to get things started. I'll send out invites and get the introductory threads posted a bit later this morning. :)

Aww, you're making me blush, TheGenerator. :D I'd love to play with you again!

And hooray for getting the game started! Looking forward to it~.

One of the reasons I had to drop out of the original game was the posting speed, having one that's a bit slower would give me the perfect reason to hop back in! If you'll have me.
Feb 26, 2025 3:37 pm
Of course, we'd be happy to have you back!

Interesting concept. Reminds me of a movie: 'Cold Comfort Farms'
If you like this idea, you'll love the movie.

Is it going to be open or closed? I'd like to lurk are read along.

The forum is public and we're getting things underway. Feel free to follow along!

Is there room for one more, and is it too late to join? I dropped from GP due to real-life pressures, but I'd like to pick back up a game or two. The low-posting rate and cozy vibe sounds great.

Hi! I have only heard good things about this game and would love to try. It would be my first game in this site :)

@timplausible, Welcome back! Sorry that I missed your post earlier. I think this game is full now, but I can manage running a third game for you and a few more people.

@gesges, We would be happy to have you in that third game as well. I can get things set up for it on Monday.

There will be room for another player or two as well if anybody else is still interested.

That would be great! But dont overdo :) If you prefer to wait for another one, I can wait!
