Innkeeper Quinn
Quinn catches snippets of the breakfast conversation as he goes merrily to and from the table. With his stash of booze now secured, or so he believes, he's in good spirits.
"Vivian!" he remarks on his way back to the kitchen at one point.
"You'll want to be careful with that one! She's a witch you know. A witch!"
And then, moments later, when Sable asks about the tally stick and mentions the bottle of wine Naggeneen absconded with, Quinn is surprisingly calm.
"Five silvers for the night's stay, and five for your meals today. A bargain! Don't worry overmuch about the wine. I'll just deduct an extra piece of gold."
During a moment when Quinn's not lingering about, Nessa unfolds the beautiful letter she carries with her. Cream-colored, the scrollwork-edged paper is linen or some other material the young woman doesn't know... but what she
does know is that it's very fancy, written in the most elegant of hands she's ever seen, and that it instructed her to come to Brandonswood, the forest immediately north of the village of Brandonsford. The letter had addressed her as 'grandchilde' and hand been signed in that flowing hand by
The Lord of Thorns and Twilight.
Now though, as the girl unfolds the letter...
there are different words inside!
OOC:
So each Tally Stick would now be at 19gp. (Except Sable's at 18gp for the wine.) They should go in your petty items rather than be marked as gold or silver coins, a la: "Quinn's Tally Stick 19."
In case that's hard to read...
Quote:
Grandchilde of Dew and Dimming Light,
When the Thrine Greenwises said you would come, none believed.
None save for me.
When your slim shadow flitted across the bramble moon, as you approached, none noticed.
Save for me.
And while your mother wept, I always knew you would return, the Dewdrop that Drinks the Dusklight, the Progeny of Man and Elfmaid.
Faeblood runs true in your veins, childe. Return now to your people, to your unknown home and your new life everlasting. Seek the sword in the tomb. Bear it and the Way will be unlocked...
Your Grandfather,
The Lord of Thorns and Twilight
