"I think maybe boots work better than bullets," Arthur answers, " and with my left arm and hand all numb and limp I can't reload, anyway." He shrugs. " What we just did seemed effective, right?"
Apr 11, 2025 10:34 pm
Herman: "I can reload for you. And you can just take your time plinking at them is my thought. Unless you are low on ammo, can't make our sitch worse."

Herman: "... at least until the bug spray is ready"

Fiona continues to play with conduct important experiments with her chemistry set. She is vaguely aware that her fellows are under attack and in need of her prompt completion of this task, she she redoubles her efforts.

It feels like perhaps I should roll again, and I too will spend some strain to move that clock along!

You don't know what the centipedes are complaining about. Fiona's concoction does not smell that bad. But they sure don't like it, and back off from the bars, slithering away into the dark. You think you have made enough to keep this type of beastie away for the the duration of your stay in this break, hopefully it does not offend everyone else.

You have a moment to tend to your wounds and plan your next step.
OOC:
Arthur's Medic Talent means he can administer First Aid without needing to take a Rest break. Your cautious approach has meant no one is Hurt and needing Healing, so a use of a First Aid Kit as anti-venom should get you right as rain.

So we now can look around this area safe from centipedes. Neeato! Good job boss woman! Can we go find some butterfly dudes and make this all worthwhile?
OOC:
Does Herman need first aid for his centipede booboo?

Fiona stands and regards her work with pride. "Centipede repellant. I wonder if there’s a market for this…", she muses. Then she turns to Herman and says, "Good work. You too, Arthur, as always. And once everyone’s wounds and tended to, we can continue our exploring. But first, is there anything here in the centipede nest worth looking at?"
Apr 13, 2025 8:02 pm
Herman and Fiona are tired and battered, but unhurt, the centipede bite was stopped by Herman's armour. Arthur has two puncture wounds in his arm, they are not serious, aside from the venom, and he probably should get an antibiotic when you get home, but, with the medicine, sensation is returning enough that he can use his arm again, even if it will be a bit sluggish for a while.

It is unlikely the centipedes have a habit of luring people to their nest, this might be a one-off event given the unexpected arrival of goblins and your party. Aside from centipede... er... residue and leavings, there might not be anything other than what the naked goblins brought with them. This does not seem like an ideal place to Scrounge [rules], but if you take the time, you might find something to make it worth your while.

Fiona looks around the nest and says, "Meh, this place stinks. Hey maybe we should go back so I can collect some data on my experiment? Who knows, I might just have brought someone back from the freaking dead! How cool is that?"
Apr 15, 2025 3:42 pm
"Sure, let's head back up." Arthur motions to Herman to move on out of the centipede nest.

You leave the site of this massacre and head back out the way you came. The centipedes repellent seems to work, and they avoid you, so you have a clear walk back out of the caves and towards the offices where the workers fell.

It hasn't been long enough for definitive results vis-à-vis people back from the dead, but it sure looks like the salamander goop has been absorbed into the wounds and like they are closing up or filling in. You could hang around and see how it goes, or you could plan to come back and check. Tempus fugit, after all.

Fiona takes a few readings, records a few observations, and then turns to her allies. "This needs more time before results are conclusive. In the meantime, why don't we go up a few more floors?"

Unless someone objects, she heads back to the beanstalk and begins to climb further.
Apr 15, 2025 11:40 pm
Ya. Up we go. I'll lead again.
Apr 16, 2025 2:01 pm
Arthur follows. His left arm has stopped tingling thanks to the antivenon injection.

Two floors up the layout changes from cubicles to offices. The elevator opens into a long corridor, lined with oak (or faux-oak) paneled doors.

At the far end of the corridor the window is broken, like something large smashed though it, taking most of the frame with it. Below that you see a long drop onto the road where you parked your van.

Apr 16, 2025 5:18 pm
"Hey, Fi, what's the readings?"
Apr 16, 2025 5:24 pm
Pointing down the readings are completely normal... like 'our-world' type levels of normal, though Herman may get the faintest suggestion of an energy field like the one that 'prevented' him from getting in from above/below.

To get readings from above you would need to climb out of the elevator shaft and around the central complex. With the open air at the end of the corridor that is a scary prospect, falling would not be good for your health.

Herman digs around opens a pack of cards, finds a joker and says, Let's see if this is interesting., and then flings out of the elevator so the group can observe what happens when/if it hits the end of the corridor.
