This is an interest check. I want to know if there are enough people willing to give it a try.
Anyway, I won't be starting this game until May 1st, at the earliest.
Tiny Waterdeep
A sandbox city for veterans of Tiny Intro or Gamersplane.com
🎯 Our goal
This game is for veterans of Gamersplane.com seeking a living, breathing world to leave their mark upon or for those who’ve tasted adventure in the Tiny Intro and want more.
With a large, dynamic map and countless NPCs, factions, and organizations to interact with, Waterdeep can be your playground, your battlefield, your home. Whether you want to build a business, join a guild, rise through the ranks of a faction, or delve into ancient dungeons, the city is yours to explore.
But be warned — I want this to be a true sandbox game. As such, players and their characters will be free to come and go, so, to make that work, sometimes we’ll have to handwave a "detail" or two (yes, your old friend just happens to show up in the middle of the dungeon — such is life in Waterdeep).
Moreover, you will have to choose your own path. There will be no rails, no scripted quests, no heists, no grand storyline pulling all PCs along. Instead, the city itself is the adventure — a living, breathing world full of factions to join, patrons to help, secrets to uncover, fortunes to claim, and dangers to face.
🏰 The setting
Our game will take place in Waterdeep in the 1490s DR.

Though not the largest city in the Realms, the City of Splendors is easily the most famous and cosmopolitan metropolis in all of Faerûn. Built on trade and industry, this vibrant crossroads blends the finest elements of countless cultures into a brilliant, ever-evolving jewel. Waterdeep draws from the heritage of all the world, and its people thrive on that richness.
While there’s a lot of official lore about Waterdeep that has certainly inspired me, this will be a homebrew setting. I won’t intentionally contradict significant, established material, and I may even borrow elements from Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and other sources, but, ultimately, this will be our world, our city, our story. If you're looking for a strictly canonical D&D adventure that keeps all the dozens of side characters, taverns, guildhalls, and historical timeline exactly as they should be, this game isn't for you.
🎲 The Game System and Rules Version
ATTENTION! ⚠️ This is NOT a Dungeons and Dragons game! ⚠️
This game uses a minimalist ruleset, Tiny D6. We will be mixing rules from Tiny Dungeons 2nd edition, Tiny Taverns and adding a couple of homebrew traits and rules inspired by Dungeons and Dragons to fit our setting. All the necessary rules will be in the game forums.
Compared to D&D, combat and spellcasting is simpler and faster. In this game, we will put more emphasis on roleplaying, world building, telling a shared story, exploring unique locations and meeting interesting characters.

🎨Character generation
All the necessary rules to create a character from scratch are also available in the game forums.
Because of the system+setting combination, you may want to bring your favorite TinyD6 or D&D character with you. If so, you will need to make minor adjustments, but that's a very feasible option. If you need help with the conversion, just let me know.
📆 Game Duration and Post Frequency
The game will run on a few adventure threads, each with its own schedule and player group. Most threads will move at 2-3 posts per week but some can be as high as daily or as slow as once per week. As always, real life comes first, and we understand holidays and personal commitments may occasionally interfere.
Each thread will be the equivalent of a short tabletop session (a few scenes long). After each adventure, new threads will open, and you’ll have downtime to either join another thread or take a break and leave this game.
Since all adventures share the same world, what happens in one can ripple out to affect others — NPCs, factions, and player actions will shape an evolving, interconnected city.
We expect to run for at least 6 months. Every six months (or at key milestones), we’ll pause to check if we want to continue. This could easily grow into a long-term, player-driven campaign.
💻 Specialized Software and Resources
None.
👋Who am I?
I've been on Gamers' Plane for more than two years and have DMed some sci-fi and fantasy games. I believe in sharing with the community and most of the games I've DMed are public. The latest two are here and here. Check them out if you wanna!
📢 Public forum
This game will be public, so people can follow and read our posts, if they want to. Some private notes and closed messages can be used by the GM or the players, especially for some controversial parts.

🐣 Player Experience Requirements
No previous experience with the game rules are necessary. I'm more than willing to teach and help.
Having said that, this game is for Gamersplane.com or Tiny Intro veterans. You must have joined this site at least 4 months ago and have at least 50 game posts under your belt (you can check your stats in the profile page).
Preference will be given for those players with regular posting and few or no active games. The intention is to let those people that already know that PbP and Gamersplane.com is for them, to keep playing here.
If you’re new to RPGs, play-by-post, Gamersplane, or TinyD6, I encourage you to join the Tiny Intro game from Psybermagi instead. It’s a fantastic way to get started and you can jump in anytime via this link or the Game Taverns. I’m a former player from that game and honestly, I can’t recommend it enough.
🎟️ How to Apply
Here! This is not a first come, first served thread, though. Ideally, I’d love to bring together a mix of trusted, well-known players and some fresh faces I’ve never had the chance to play with before. However, if there is overwhelming interest, the final selection may be made by random roll, the phase of the moon, solar flare activity, or perhaps just complete whim — depending on how the winds are blowing.
Once in the game, you will start in your own "Session zero" thread but should soon set your own goal and join a group in one of the main threads.
🏳️🌈✅️ Marginalized Groups Welcome
This game is explicitly friendly to LGBT and any other minorities or marginalized groups, tieflings, orcs, halfings, gnomes, trolls and people of many other heritages. Please, let us all be fans of each other and all their characters.
Anyway, I won't be starting this game until May 1st, at the earliest.
