Hi!,
I'm Muns a short form of my last name Munsey'.
In-game, my character's name is LC Rains, the ship’s Navigator with a sharp mind, a knack for reading the stars… and a bit of a scoundrel’s charm. Always plotting the next course — or the next con. Depends on the day.

Hi - Dave here (aka dabaggins).

Playing Bronz Bautista, an ex-pirate who found himself abandoned on Catuz (if I remember correctly) and was fortunate enough to hook up with this crew as 2nd Engineer. Just a kid who fell in with the wrong crowd. Then, by either fate or chance, he was able to get away from them and is now trying to escape his past and live a more lawful life.

Maybe not with Mama about... She is ready to take a few chances.... (But she has may bad rolls to deal with)

I started as a Dungeon Master way back in 1975, so I've been doing this sort of thing for quite a time. I've been doing Traveller since it first came out in 1977. Still have my original Little Black Books, though I'm currently using the Facsimile edition from Far Future Enterprises. Worth every penny..., it includes some rules clarifications and examples that weren't in the original books.

I currently live in "Sun City", where every day is a holiday! I play Senior Softball and do Ceramics. I do some photography and a little travel now and then. A few health problems intrude, so there may be times when I don't support the game as well as I should. Expect an occassional delay or pause.

FYI... I have (or had) the original black books—haven't seen them recently. Probably got them in the late '70s and played Traveller a lot back then, but I have a large, multi-year gap with gaming. Only got back into it this year. I live in Canada—which obviously isn't as warm as 'Sun City'.

@playbydave Alice rolled up a Lab Ship as a mustering out benefit. Is this useful for the campaign, or should she sell it? If the latter, how much moolah we looking at, Ref?

... or does she trade it in for Ship Shares in the Free Trader?

For this game any 'ship' type mustering out rewards are simply ignored. There is an ongoing story and a second ship just isn't in the cards. And an influx of credits from selling a ship-share would simply overwhelm the 'vibe' of a crew really needing to generate funds on their own.

Hello everyone, my name is Everett and I live on the East Coast of the U.S. This is my first time playing traveller, but I'm very excited to give this classic rpg a shot. I've been slowly trying to make my way through all the information our gracious GM has shared, and I'm loving out flushed out everything is.

My character is Rin Bauer, an older ship's mechanic with a gruff personality. He's not someone who goes out of his way to be rude, but there is little he shares about himself.

I just want to make sure I'm understanding the direction we're going and I apologize if this was mentioned somewhere already. The new players currently have not met the old crew, correct? I assume some circumstance is leading us to each other?

Right. Please reference the roleplay thread "Odd Opportunity" as that is intended as an avenue (not a railroad!) towards combining the old with the new!

Hello! I'm Shawn living in the SE US. I'm a Yankee transplant so not many y'all's from me.

I will play Llogan Tamm, the Chief Engineer of the ATHELSTONE. I was part of the original crew but I had to take a break from play for personal reasons.

Llogan (pro: Logan) is just over 200 cm tall. His height makes his strong body look thinner. Tamm doesn't have any body hair except for his eyebrows. He has a very deep voice. Mama has nicknamed him Lurch but she's the only one who can call him that name and not get punched. Both arms have sleeve tattoos from the shoulder to just above the wrist. It's likely that Tamm has other tattoos but they aren't visible when he is fully clothed. Tamm's clothes are simple, T-shirts, trousers, bib overalls and ship's coveralls. He does have two fancier outfits but only two. Tamm is fond of resale and pawn shops.

Tamm is a quiet person but when he speaks, it's likely important. This only plays into Mama's nickname. He has a few quirks; he refers to himself in the third person (saying Tamm instead of I & me) & he likes to spend time in a hammock in Engineering while on duty.

If you are still having problems one option may be creating a character with this sheet I created.

There is also the Characters tab on the top panel or the Game Details on the bottom bar where you can associate a created character.

I'm going to try 'pinning' this so its easy to find.

Maybe the first post in the new Characters & NPC sub-forum that you have created.

I am Charles and live in non-sexy, boring Las Vegas. I am retired. I have a (still working) girlfriend and her daughter + two dogs to nurture. But I am in need of more things to putter around with... so here I am. Most recent puttering is my blog (it just got moved, but its been up and updated for about 6 months.)

The character in this game is Luis "Lu-Yam" Yamamoto (who is a Broker-1). I picture this guy as a basic, know-it-all, (Edu: A) annoying weasel. (Social 2!!!) He stares at manuals and textbooks in his copious off-work time when he is not playing video games or writing emails to "girlfriend" Pam in Canada. He is Roddy Ho from Slow Horses. He finally bailed out of the Merchants when he got rejected and punched by the Steward he had been lurking, drooling on for 4 years. Just picture him in the common area going through "kata" exercises with his Bitchin’ (merchants retirement gift - engraved with his name and years of service!) broadsword, "Dudes , check me out I’m like the Highlander! There can be only one!!!!"

I have no idea where this guy is from since I don’t know the galaxy at all. He needs to find a job because he has kinda burned his bridges with the Merchants and it would be too humiliating to move home (wherever that is)

Greetings! I am known as one of the Roberts in Dave’s games, although I usually go by Wettrout, Packratt or RW. The latter is how I normally sign when OOC in game chats. This player could also be called a grognard but I’ve never really claimed such. Like some here, I’ve been playing Tabletop RPGs since the mid 1970s and Traveller when it first came out! I’ve played Traveller in almost all of its incarnations, as well as other GDW games, both RPG and a handful of war gaming titles. But the LBB and Mongoose Traveller are really my favorites. I’ve also played a variety of other genres of TTRPGs, including Twilight:2000, D&D (every version except 4th), Spycraft, Star Wars, several versions of Star Trek, as well as about half of the original WOD titles and some Cthulhu. Standing before you is a bit of a unique Vargr at 1.81m (5’11") tall and weighing 98.4kg (217lbs). He tends to be on the large size of his species, his heavy, white fur and softer angles of his muzzle accentuated his actual height and weight. Neither obese nor muscle bound, he’s just fluffy. Almost always dressed in a ship’s jumpsuit, he has been known to dress up a bit. It can, however, be a challenge with his heavy coat of fur. A coat of fur that always seems impeccably maintained. Tharrok is a genial, friendly sort most of the time. Some might say his sense of humor might need better timing, but he is something of a prodigy in the pilot’s seat.

I was reading the initial post in the Trading thread and saw where Dave mentioned a possible name change for the ship and my brain got activated on a couple of possibilities. So I thought I drop them here real quick in case anyone wants to consider them or maybe make their own suggestions. These are really just variations on a theme.

Fortune or Folly

Fortune’s Folly or Folly’s Fortune

Fortunate Sun ☀️ (or is that too 20th Century Terra?)

Or perhaps "Folly's Fools"

But that might just result in several brawls as we defend our ships name ....

Another idea would be "Fortune's Edge" - if we play up the pirate angle as it ties in the broadsword but also sounds legitimate enough that people will still want to deal with us.
