Final Chapter

As night begins to fall, you are led out of the palace and into the city proper. If the circumstances weren't so dire, you might have found your time here enjoyable, but as it is you aren't able to enjoy the incredible sights of the flourishing Xaryxian Empire. Eventually, you reach a large circular structure with an open area in the center, surrounded by rows and rows of tiered seating.

Princess Xedalli
Xedalli waits for you beneath the building where you are taken for your preparations, "Champions," she says, greeting you with a tense nod, "I did my best to negotiate a fair battle for you, but... I'm afraid that the deck is stacked against you, so to speak. You will be facing off against the Zodar, my brother's personal guardian, as well as a pair of his finest guards. You must find a way to win this fight or things are just going to get worse."

She turns to leave, "I will be watching from above. Good luck to you."

With that, a booming voice echoes from the arena above, "Combatants, please take your place in the arena. The battle between Prince Xeleth and Princess Xedalli's champions are about to begin."

You ascend into the arena to find the seating full of Xaryxian citizens as well as two floating platforms hovering above the arena. One holds your benefactor and the other, Prince Xeleth.

Across from you stands a creature clad head to toe in a suit of obsidian armor. As it floats toward you, you realize the armor is the creature. Flanking it are two elves, one wearing brightly polished armor with a glittering longsword held at his side and the other wearing robes and wielding a morningstar.

The foes are currently 50 ft away. Time to roll initiative! If you match or beat them, you can act right away

"Well, this should be interesting," says Imti, her tone indicating she would actually prefer other interesting things, probably in a completely different interesting place. Seated on her broom with her shield, she hovers just enough to see over the head of Ziggy.

As they prepared to step forward into the arena, Quaxiver had wreathed himself with an aura of cold flame to protect himself. "Stay high Jzu, watch my back." The flying monkey needed little urging, and hovered near Imti for a measure of solidarity.

Ziggy's spell goes off and the knight shrugs it off, but the priest stands there with a dazed look on his face.

Imti instinctively ducks from the knight's attack, even though she wasn't the target. She clutches her crystalline star map and communes with the twilight between the constellations, then points at the knight with a crooked finger. Illusory sparkles briefly shimmer across the knight's armor as pinpricks of light penetrate the metal, imbuing the suit with the heat of their representative stars.

She saves a bit of the star light for herself, weaving a constellation of dragon wings across her back and the horned fangs down her chest. Imti flies up into the air, taking a circular pattern to keep away from the monstrous Zodar, yet closing to 30 feet from the knight.
OOC:
Action: Cast Heat Metal on armored knight, assuming the armor is metal at least.
Bonus Action: Wild Shape Starry Form - Dragon.
Movement: Fly up to 10 feet and around to keep distance from Zodar, while closing 20 feet towards the knight (to stay at 30 feet from them).

Also, I believe Imti has 59 hit points.

Ziggy grunts as he is forcefully yanked towards the Zodar. The bard's concentration shattered, the mesmerizing patterns conjured by his cittern fade away. Blood trickling from pouted lips, the elf switches from a soulful baritone to a piercing falsetto, creating some space between himself and the team's foes, leaving behind a shower of starlight.

Even as Ziggy sought to fall back, Quaxiver prepared to do the opposite. The hadozee saved this magic for the rarest of occasions for it always left him tired after that, but he combined its power with his flashing bladesong to become a swift whirlwind, leaping forward to engage the zodar directly, with Jzu keeping him on target!

Main action cast Haste. Bonus action Bladesong. Move 50ft. Attack with additional action from Haste with Green Flame Blade, with the green flames aimed at the priest.

The knight lets out a shout of pain as his armor becomes red-hot with him inside of it.

Ziggy quickly takes a magical step out of range while leaving behind glowing flames that cling to the knight, making him easier to strike.

This One casts a spell, attempting to make his foes flee, but neither of them seem affected by it.

Quax dashes forward impossibly quickly, trying his best to do real damage to the Zodar, which is clearly the strongest of the foes. Both strikes land solidly, flames arcing to the priest, who yelps in pain.

The Zodar, seeming barely bothered by the scratches, launches a heavy fist at Quax, who ducks under it. Balance thrown off, Quax can't react quickly enough and takes a grazing blow from the Zodar.

The knight joins the Zodar and swings at Quax, who easily avoids the attacks.

Imti laments how the priest didn't watch Ziggy's light show for longer, but soon she has another issue to deal with. She struggles to resist the priest's magical restraints, and the Raven Queen's blessing shines through.

If it's going to be a battle of divinity, Imti resolves to prove that the Raven Queen could care less about the competition. She does so by throwing a glittering ball of starlight at the priest!

The druid continues moving in the air so as not to remain stationary, and she circles counter-clockwise until she can be 30 feet behind Quaxiver.

Ziggy unleashes a blistering solo on the cittern! Silvery barbs, accompanied by starry wisps, erupt from the instrument, streak across the arena, and circle Quaxiver before striking the enemy priest in an explosion of glam!

Quaxiver was too close to try to skip away from the oncoming attack he was expecting from for the zodar, but did not allow the blow to disrupt the focus he had on his speed. He then replied with a flurry of slashes of his own, while he could still maintain the offensive.
OOC:
Zodar hits Quax and therefore takes 7hp from the cold Fire Shield. Using Hadozee Dodge to mitigate 5hp of the damage from the zodar's attack. Quax takes 11hp, putting him at 40/51hp. Con save passed.
Hasted actions: all attacks to zodar, 3 of them successful thanks to the extra Weal which bumps the 16 rolled to a 20. Green-Flame targets the priest.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Imti's spell sends forth a ball of starlight, which slams into the priest's chest and lights him up. Concentrating on her spell, Imti also keeps the metal of the knight's armor burning.

A moment later, the priest is struck by yet another ball of light, staggering him back another step.

This One calls upon another plane and a slaad steps through a portal, slashing the priest in the back.

Quax's quick slashes hit the Zodar over and over, sending gouts of flame to the priest, who finally falls. The Zodar's wounds seem to be adding up slowly, but it's still got a lot of power left.

The knight realizes he's never going to match Quax's agility and turns his attention to Imti in the air, launching two rays of pure light at her. Both of them miss badly as Imti zips through the air.

The Zodar launches a couple more punches at Quax and causes the air to warp around Imti, attempting to pull her closer.

Imti growls, struggling against the intangible pull of the Zodar. She had never felt such gravity, nor did she expect the pain that accompanies it.

"I'm just... not that into you!" shouts Imti. As the final syllable leaves her lips, a dark cloud of raven feathers forms behind her, circling a void of twilight. Like a pebble falling down a drain, Imti and her broom are sucked into the void, reappearing back where she was 30 feet away and now 15 feet in the air.

Still enveloped in a faint spectral mist, Imti turns her attention back to the Knight, and sends another ball of starlight in an attempt to trade shots. "How's about your friend suck on this, instead?"

Imti is now at 36/59 HP.

Bonus Action: Blessing of the Raven Queen, teleport 30 feet away, gain resistance to all damage until next turn.
Action: Guiding Bolt vs Knight.

Quaxiver knew he wouldn't outlast the zodar in a toe-to-toe fight, but he still had at least one or two ways to avoid the worst of the zodar's attacks. This time he threw up a quick shield to deflect one of the heavy blows. Still, the zodar's other attack nearly knocked the wind out of him.
OOC:
Posting defense for Round 2 first, before doing Round 3. Reaction to cast Shield, AC24+5=29 avoids the first zodar attack, but Quax still eats the second. So Quax is at 40-21=19hp.
Fire Shield triggers, so the zodar takes 5hp from it.
Edit: forgot my CON check, going to try to add Weal to it! Yes thank you Imti!
