OOC:
We have a bunch of treasure from Mistamere but I haven't been diligent about tracking my coin, tbh. I *know* we have valuables (like a pouch of gems, for example) worth more than that, but dunno if we can easily convert that in Lav or if he'd take such things as they are, etcLast edited June 27, 2025 11:18 am

Boudica consults with her companions and then she nods to the barkeep and says, "We agree. Here..."
She gathers the coin, willing to donate a healthy portion from her own purse, and hands it over. "Now, may we?"

Karl Hubber
Karl leads you through a narrow side door toward the back of the tavern, down a short flight of stairs into his cellar. Its a low ceilinged room with rough stone walls, with rows and rows of wooden casks and barrels stacked on top of each other. Some are marked with chalk, and most have faded Thyatian trade stamps. The floor itself is cheap wood planks, but you can see the packed dirt between the gaps in the boards. There is but a single iron lantern hanging overhead to provide some light.
"Here it is. Please, please, please; don’t knock anything over, don’t break anything. I can't afford to close the place down, not even for a few days" he considered whether he should stay and watch, but eventually decided against it. There would be more and more patrons arriving as lunch approaches, and he wants to make sure everything is ready for their arrival. "Don't make too big of mess" he finally says, before heading back up the stairs.

"Let’s go, Halav. We need to move these barrels over there" the spirit, which couldn't wait for Karl to disappear out of sight, pointed to the corner. "Beneath the floor, two feet down, lie stone slabs. They seal a passage to a part of the old city buried beneath this one"

Will points his party in direction of where to dig.
Stone slabs, two feet down. Hopefully we can pry them up.

Boudica descends and takes in the scene while Will seems to talk to himself again--or is old Halav talking to...well, new Halav? She still isn't sure.
While she waits, she muses aloud, "Maybe I'll come back and buy this place someday and make it into a shrine to the Traladaran Faith... On such a sacred site, after all. Hmm..."

It is in that exact moment that the serving maid Will spotted the night before appears on the cellar's steps, carefully balancing a tray with a pitcher of water and some jugs. She pauses, and looks wide-eyed at the sight of the unearthed floor, and more so at the sweating Will, before she manages a small smile:
"Hi. I thought you might want something to drink"

Much obliged, Will replies. Stepping up and drinking wonderful refreshing water.
How long have you worked here?

Boudica nods a greeting at the woman. Does she appear to be Thyatian? "What faith do you practice, Miss?" she asks, before saying more.

"Um… I try to follow the Three. As much as anyone can, I suppose" she looks cautiously at Boudica "Why should it matter?"

No one said it did, lass. My companion meant no offense. Thank you for the water.

Boudica waits for her to ascend the stairs and then turns back and continues to uncover the stone they've found. In hushed tones, she says, "Do you realize what this means? It means your visions are real, Will. If it was just your mind playing tricks on you, it wouldn't have any way to know this was here. And the hags wouldn't know about this either. Will..."
Boudica is shaking with excitement and anticipation.

As the party makes darkened descent, Will replies, saying,
You are right, Boudica. This surely means, the premonitions I’ve had, are true. I will start declaring my full identity, going forward. But as a cleric, I’ll need you to be beside me, and back me up, as I do so. Understanding we’re in Thyatian lands, but…truth is truth, as it goes.
Thank you, for believing in me.

You descend the stone steps, carrying your lanterns in your hands, to find yourself in a small chamber. At its center stands a flawless statue made of white marble, completely untouched by time, without a speck of dust clinging to the polished surface. The woman is carved wearing a long flowing robe that drapes around in perfect folds around her body and feet.
Each detail is carefully defined; from the hair rolling down her shoulders. her calm and lifelike face - with full lips and eyes so precise that they even hold carved pupils and fine eyelashes! The gentle outline of her muscles beneath the smooth marbled skin, the curve of her breasts. Even her robe is similarly detailed: you can actually see the 'seams' in the fabric, the thin cord tied around the waist all rendered in exact stonework.
The only thing that isn't stone is a polished wooden staff the statue is holding, looking as new as the day it was placed there.
The chamber is eerily quiet, so much so that you can't hear anything from the tavern above your head. There is a single corridor leading away, into deeper darkness, but it seems less well-maintained than the chamber you are standing in.

"Petra"
The voice in Will's head carries the mix of awe, and affection, but the 'spirit' decides to remain incorporeal for now.

It’s her alright, Our neolegendary fellow says to his friends. Our fightery fellow looks back at Boudica, shrugs, then affixes emerald eyes back upon the statue.
Petra, he says in conversational voice. It’s Halav. Wake up…and come out! He gestures his right hand in a ‘come on’ manner of motion.
