Session 1: We Three Kings

Nov 27, 2016 1:19 am
Alright, to get started we first need to highlight stats. You gain XP every time you use a highlighted stat, and you can pick one for any reason. Personally, I pick based on cool stuff I'd like to see you do.

I'll pick one of your stats, and the person you have the most HX with will pick the second. You guys should update your character sheets with your HX as well, since you can get XP from it.

Vega: Hard, and Hot (Ghost picked). (Vega has +2 with Eliza, and +3 with Ghost)

Eliza: Weird, and Sharp (Vega Picked). (Eliza has +2 with Vega, and +1 with Ghost)

Ghost: Sharp, and Weird. (Ghost has +1 with Eliza, and +1 with Vega)

After that, Eliza needs to roll her 'bonefeel' and Vega needs to roll for 'wealth'.
Nov 27, 2016 2:17 pm
Ghost wants to see Vega being Cool dealing with the hardhold's coming conflicts, but she also wants to see her Hot dealing with her lieutenants; she's indecisive, that little girl....

Can I ask for others' opinions to help me choose?

Also,
handle says:
Ghost: Sharp, and what Vega picks. (Ghost has -1 with Eliza, and +1 with Vega)
So actually that should be a +1 with Eliza also. Does that mean they need to come to concensus? Is there a tie-break?

In a tie, just pick your favorite person. We'll re-highlight stats again, so it's not like this is a super binding decision.

So let's have Eliza pick.

Eliza should mark Sharp, because we need a keen mind to keep Advent going.

I think either of those options is good, and not just because they are my other positive stats. Cool is acting under pressure, Hot manipulating people. I guess Hot is more how I'm feeling right now. But your call in the end.
OOC:
edit: That roll is supposed to say +2, but 7-9 is the same result range. We have surplus, and the want I choose is idle, which I believe means they want to be idle. Perhaps we have been working overtime to prepare for the Winter. Everybody has been putting in extra effort to make sure we don't come up short before Spring...or whatever serves as Spring in the Apocalypse.

Rolls

Rolling for wealth - (2d6)

(43) = 7

Go with hot. I thinking you'll be wrapping your lieutenants around your fingers sooner than we'll have to worry about being cool under pressure dealing with hardhold issues.

No comment. Sent Tefmon a message because I wanna kick this sucker off! Your characters seem like a lot of fun.

I'll be nice. Let's go with Weird.

Sorry for being late, everyone. I didn't notice the first session's thread had gone up. I've set GP up to email me updates from this forum now, so there shouldn't be any more big delays from me.

Rolls

Bonefeel (Session 1) - (2d6+2)

(36) + 2 = 11

OOC:
So Eliza will have +1 on her first roll, due to bonefeel, and will arrive on scene with the tools necessary. Vega gets 2-barter for her surplus, but the general population of Advent is idle. Too much turkey, perhaps?

When playing in real time, it's easy to bounce between each character. With PbP we will try to do them at the same time. If it gets too confusing I could split the threads up, but I'd rather not.

Since Eliza and Ghost both work for Vega, we'll start them working a scavenging gig for her. Eliza felt that she could find something interesting, and Ghost just needed a little bit of food for the winter.
Technically it's the first day of winter, but it feels like the temperatures have been freezing for at least a month. Although Advent had a surplus of goods at the moment, Vega still sent out the daily scavenging party. The job is part recon, part peacekeeping, and part 'you can take any shit that you find out there'.

Prim, as diligent as always, opted to act as the muscle for the party by piloting his mech. Eliza, Ghost, and Mercer would be the ones fanning out and scavenging. The target of the day was a trash heap near the boundary of Advent's control, as the good spots closer to advent had already been picked though plenty.

Eliza managed to dig up an impressive looking hunk of technology, but she wasn't quite sure what it did yet. It's shaped like a big, black barrel, but is filled with wires and circuitry. Luckily she had all the right tools in place, and Ghost hadn't nicked them yet. Ghost is also there watching Eliza work, but she is getting some weird vibes from the strange machine.

Mercer and Prim are in a different area of the trash heap, but still within earshot.

...

At the same time back at Advent, Vega had just woken up lazily at noon. The normal cacophony coming from the manufactury are absent, and you hear some groaning in the water pipes.

OOC:
I'm not entirely sure how you want IC posts formatted, so in the interim I'm going to use "Bolded quotes for my character's speech", Italics for her thoughts and inner monologues (which apparently doesn't appear any different than non-italicized text in OOC), and regular, unformatted text for descriptions of her actions and the environment.
Eliza, while looking up from the black barrel of technology to grab one of her multitools, just out of reach, notices Ghost just sitting around nearby, not doing anything particularly useful.

I'm still not entirely sure why we keep bringing this thieving child around with us. She keeps stealing my shit, spooking the shit out of our crewmates, and she'll probably just get herself killed if we're attacked by bandits or mutant wolves or literally anything else.

"Hey, Ghosty, if you've got nothing else pressing to do, would'ya mind grabbing me some coffee from the coffee machine duct taped to Prim's mech. Three cream, two sugar, and try not to eat my mug on the way back."

Without waiting for a reply from Ghost, Eliza returns to her work, attempting to gain access to the circuitry in the interior of the black barrel of technology.
Dec 4, 2016 3:04 am
Ghost stares through Eliza at the barrel, gawking a bit, but Eliza's request snaps her out of her reverie. She pouts a little. "I'm doin' stuff," she says, and bounces to her feet, hat giving the lightest of tinkles at her annoyance. I'll fina thing, show her. As she heads for the mech and the coffee maker, she starts looking about, trying to will something useful into appearing, but her attention keeps getting pulled back to the barrel.

OOC:
@Ghost - Roll me +Cool to look around the junkyard for something interesting. You'll be hopping around jagged metal, so it's considered 'under fire'.
The black barrel is pretty wedged in muck, you'd have to use to use Prim's mech and some of your rope to pull it out of there. However, he might want a split of whatever it is. On the other hand, Eliza, you aren't even too sure what this thing is. If you had it back at your workshop you could determine it's exact usefulness.
OOC:
@Eliza - You can roll +Hot to try to convince Prim, or maybe you pay him off with something worth 1-barter. You could also roll +Weird to ask the maelstrom what this thing does.

OOC:
Could I offer to repair/tune-up/upgrade Prim's mech, as a favour worth 1-barter? Maybe as a Workshop project, if it involves increasing the Mech's mechanical capabilities?
Dec 5, 2016 4:32 am
OOC:
Yes, but you'd still roll +Hot to make the deal. Your roll determines how much Prim will ask for.

Vega untangles herself from the pile of humans she was sleeping with. Dog-head and Fauna each curl up together and go back to sleep. The hard holder stretches and steps over them, finding her red robe with the black fur draped over a chair nearby. She shrugs it on but doesn't tie it closed as she walks over to her desk. Banter is sitting in her chair looking at a pile of documents with Wish. He starts to get up but Vega pushes him back down and sits on his lap taking over looking at the morning reports. Wish smiles knowingly and goes to fetch breakfast for Vega. "Sounds like the pipes are freezing again. When do we expect Eliza back from the scavenge?"
Dec 7, 2016 8:35 am
Banter rests his chin of Vega's shoulder and wraps his hands around her waist. He needs to shave, his beard feels like steel wool.

"Should be in the afternoon. They left really early in the morning to save daylight, since it gets dark so early these days."

Wish brings back some cured mutton and a can of peaches. Only the best for the leader of Advent, after all. She respond to Vega's statement about the pipes.

"The plumbers were supposed to make sure that didn't happen. You think they are trying to unionize again?"
OOC:
So, Vega. I would recommend trying out the 'Read a Person' move on some of your subordinates, or some the the civilians that live in advent. It'll help you get to know your own people (which any good leader will do), as well as your own enemies (like the lazy plumbers). After you read them, you'll have a better idea on how you want to proceed.

Side note: I don't remember if I said this before or not. Sex is a part of AW, but it's not something you have to do or roleplay. You can just ignore it, if you want. For this game we will just 'fade to black' because I'm not some sexual deviant trying to cyber on an RP forum. :P

OOC:
What's up guys, do you not want to play anymore?
Dec 16, 2016 6:04 am
OOC:
Sorry, I got sidetracked by some personal stuff. My furnace went out right as the weather turned to freezing and I got sick for a few days. I am back to full health though...I'm still interested. I can't speak for the others, but Taej has posted in another game that personal matters are taking up him away until Christmas or later. As for the sex scene, I also think that the PG-13 rating rule this forum has would ask that we 'fade to black' but I have no issues.
Vega takes a bite of the mutton and a slice of peach from the can with three fingers. She places her fingers to Banter's lips and she lets him lick the heavy syrup off of them.

"Fuc-king plumbers. They could run this show if they ever got their act together. We can't let them figure that out though. They'd drink Advent into the grave. If the outside didn't come in and get them first. So what do I need to do to get them off their asses and and keep this place running?" Vega pours over the various reports and lists while she shares her meal with Banter and Wish. Eventually, Vega has had enough with idleness and gets up. She drops her robe and moves heads back to the sleeping area to find her clothes.

"I'm going for a walk. Who wants to go with?" Once dressed, she heads out to see Advent for herself and to get the plumbers back to work.
OOC:
Reading a Situation as suggested.

Edit...I meant Read a Person.

Rolls

Read a Sitch +Sharp - (2d6+1)

(33) + 1 = 7

Dec 16, 2016 2:17 pm
OOC:
I completely understand, things get busy sometimes.

When you read a person you pick who you want to read, then you can ask questions throughout the conversation. This is basically you picking up on body language, reading between the lines, etc. With a 7-9 roll you can ask one of these:
• Is your character telling the truth?
• What’s your character really feeling?
• What does your character intend to do?
• What does your character wish I’d do?
• How could I get your character to —?

Since you are talking to Wish, I'll assume you are reading her as you make your way to wherever the plumbers reside.
As Vega gets dressed, Wish finishes off the can of peaches. She's always had a taste for sweets... well you've never actually seen her turn down a meal at all. How the hell does she stay thin?

"Banter just jumped back into bed with the others, so I'll join you down to the tubes."

The long walk down the stone stairs is quiet, the only audible sound is the wind outside and the increasingly scary sounding pipes. Once you leave your specially guarded admin tower, you make your way across the frozen courtyard to the underground areas. In the spring there would be a market out here, but this weather is no joke. You pass a few guards who are on duty, who hastily drop what they were doing to make themselves look useful. Wish keeps the conversation as you walk at a brisk pace.

"Look at us, when did we get so lazy? Err, if you don't mind me speaking bluntly. We need a good raid to remind everyone why we are the ones in charge. Me and Fuse have been planning on starting a fighting pit, I told him I'd talk to you about it. What do you think?"
Dec 20, 2016 6:10 am
Vega does her best to seem like she is ignoring the guards while taking their faces, and hopefully names. She'd put them on report...or something. It sucked being out here in this weather, but they still had a job to do.

"A fighting pit could serve to let people blow off steam, but I'm not keen on the idea of our fighters beating the crap out of each other without a concrete gain. A raid is a good idea though."

Once past the guards, Vega thinks again about how to punish them. "Well, let me think about the pit idea. I'm not saying no...yet. How exactly would you handle it?"
OOC:
Going to ask "What does your character wish I'd do?"
