OOC:
Oh no, you're such a monster Rolen. ;-;
Feb 24, 2017 12:24 am
OOC:
This is why you should never trust anyone.

OOC:
TBH I'm a little creeped out by Rolen. That's me, not Cat. She's naive, thinks he's wonderful, and trusts him. She's just a little hurt that he would keep secrets from her.

When she returns to camp, Baraq settles in for sleep. She preens her feathers before adjusting her perch.

Moofsalot says:
Looking up, I notice that some of our party members have disappeared and turn towards Ada. "What has happened?"
Looks like Bird think Cat is Dinner

The remainder of your rest is relatively uneventful, when compared to the flurry of activity you had. As the sun crests the hill the next morning, you make preparations to break camp and head out.

As you set out, you notice that it is considerably warmer than it was yesterday. You can see the low-lying mists across the plains and foothills baking off as it becomes clearer that today is going to be oppressively hot.

As you ride along, the foothills form a constant backdrop along your journey. You spend an easy five days travelling, with little else happening. There were a few beasts that looked like they may approach but turned away at the size of your retinue. As the sun reached its peak on the fifth day, you spot a well-groomed road off in the distance, running vaguely north to south.

OOC:
Do we know if that road leads to our destination?

OOC:
Yes, this is a known road. It will run through a few towns all the way up to close to where you need to be. There'd still be some camping to be done near the end, but most nights from here out you could likely find an inn to crash at.

As we continue to travel, I speak with Cat. "If you wish to assume the essence of an animal, a wolf or perhaps a cat would be more useful."

"That was my first time, and it just sort of happened. It was kinda scary! Can you do that kind of thing too? Could you teach me, maybe?"

I've heard that one has to envision and know the creature one wants to become in order for it to work. At least that what I would hear around the castle when I was young. They had a young boy constantly studying animals. Are you familiar with Elk? Perhaps you should try and turn into a chipmunk since you have that little guy there. Ada points to where ever the chipmunk is.

"I'm worried any animal I turn into, that beast Baraq will try to eat me!" Cat whispers, making sure both of the aaracokra are aloft and out of earshot.

Baraq spends most of her day in the sky, gliding on the heat rising from the ground. She studies the road the party will take, scouting the area as much as she can.

Baraq tilts her form, letting gravity and the shift in the wind glide her lower to the ground. When she nears the party, she levels off and tries to continue her hover so as to not waste energy.

"Town ahead," she calls to those below her. "6 hours. Night falls soon."

Baraq adds, "Traffic on the road. Caravans."

Then perhaps something more ferocious like a wolf. Ada says before hearing that there is a caravan coming their way.
Do they look like merchants! Ada yells up at Baraq

Baraq holds her hands open as if the gesture is enough to answer that, and returns to a higher altitude.

Catriona tenses up when Baraq swoops in close, and relaxes when the aarakocra returns to the sky. "Yes, maybe a wolf." Cat tries to remember all the beasts she's ever seen. One time one of her father's ships had been hired to transport a menagerie and she had been allowed to see the animals in their cages.
