Character Creation

I watched a bit of Oblivion and the playing style didn't seem as much my thing and the graphics weren't as good, but that makes two people now who absolutely love the game. Huh. As for the dossier, that's really what tipped the balance for me. I wasn't really sure which way to go and was honestly not liking either side (I just hated the Thalmor) until I read it. Ulfric sounds like a real jerk - he murdered the High King as a power play and is the Thalmor's puppet and since I hate the Thalmor (they seem like a bunch of slippery cut throat prigs) the Empire seems like the best way to put them down, as weak as it is. Put down the Rebellion with the power of the Thu'um, then turn Unrelenting Force upon the forces of the Thalmor!
Favorite shouts, anyone? Mine is Unrelenting Force. I could go for Slow Time or Fire Breath, but so far there's no sensation so satisfying as hurling my enemy(ies) into a wall with the sheer power of my voice. Makes it easy to move up and finish them off as they attempt to regain the ability to stand.

Play style is pretty much the same, but better in a lot of ways- it feels much more like an rpg. Graphics aren't going to be as great obviously, but don't let graphics get in the way of anything. I love em' to be honest, but that's just me. You should absolutely give it another try- or at least watch a full playthrough on YouTube. My favorite Thu'um is definitely Whirlwind Sprint, or Become Ethereal. I love Unrelenting Force when I feel like trolling the Graybeards- ever fight them? Get Spellbreaker to block their shouts, go out back, and FUS RO DAH! them off the Throat of the World.

Yeah, I guess for me I actually don't want it to feel like an RPG as much, I want it to be a bit more streamlined, which is what Skyrim is. I don't dislike it, I just don't think I would like it as much. I've never played Oblivion, just watched a bit of a walkthrough.
Really? Whirlwind Sprint is good, but is it combat effective? Actually... when fighting melee enemies, if you have a good bow Sprinting away and picking them off as they come would be incredibly effective... how about Ethereal? Because you can't hurt anyone so it just postpones the inevitable, right? How do you use it?
Haha, are they essential so you can't kill them? What level do you have to be to get Spellbreaker, generally?
Also, thoughts on the Black Brotherhood? Is it possible to be a loyal Imperial and also complete that storyline? I've heard you have to kill the Emperor at the end...

You do have to kill the emperor- or.. you can betray the Dark Brotherhood (I'll let you figure that out). I'm a diehard archer for sure, so whirlwind sprint comes in handy if an enemy gets too close; Become ethereal isn't meant to be used to help you fight, but help you flight- I play on legendary now, so if I'm getting screwed, that saves my life (but in reality I like jumping off cliffs without getting hurt, particularly college of winterhold bridge xD). You can't kill greybeards, but it's awesome to send em off the mountain- Also, figure it out for Spellbreaker. I don't like spoiling how to do quests, and/or how to find em; it ruins the experience in my opinion. Also, back to D.B. you can still be in the Legion- you're fighting for the cause, not the leader of said cause... he'll just be replaced. SERIOUSLY THOUGH, watch a playthrough of AT LEAST the main story, cause it's the best.

Good to know! I'm more of a melee guy myself though I've started to use sneaking archery when I can.
I totally get the 'don't want to spoil it'! Thanks for keeping me honest. xD

I am that guy who played the game through the first time on the lowest difficulty just to completely wreck every single enemy. Then as I continued to play and encounter new things, I would both increase the difficulty and play each race with its assumed playstyle. I typically play a Nord just to compliment my simple "slash-and-dash" playstyle. Simply striking then dashing away and striking again. Nowadays, I follow the line of sneak and archery as well because undead draugrs hurt when you are on Master.

A DnD game within Skyrim/Cyrodiil would be epic.

Cryotic there is an unofficial elder scrolls tabletop rpg

Yeah... but DnD is truly just the master. I'd be willing to play if you want to DM one cry.

I meant a DnD game consisting of Couch, Im_That, myself, and any others. It would be interesting; meta-gaming might be shown due to it being a video game location.

I am willing to run one, but it would be my first time running a game on PbP. I am experienced with Skyrim, but I failed to sit and read the books within the land (I just collected them for bookcases, haha!). But I am up for it. Give me some time and we shall give it a shot.

You can create the characters now if you want. 1st level. Anything from PHB. Either 4d6 drop low or point buy.

Cool! I'm excited.

How're we going to account for the versatility that Skyrim has that D&D does not. Any ideas?
Also Cryo, can we use UA (Unearthed Arcana)? It's a collection of official Wizards of the Coast stuff that's released after the PHB came out. It really expands on a lot of the core ideas of the PHB and I really like some of them. Even if we don't use them, look them over--they're a whole lot of fun to play.

We should continue this on a forum within the game. We're flooding this thread.
Feb 3, 2017 4:47 pm
I apologize for the flood of a different game within this game's posts.
Feb 3, 2017 4:52 pm
Oh you're fine.

May my character be approved?

And you are now cryotic

I apologize everyone, I have to bow out of this game. It looks like it's going to be a fun story, so I'm sorry I'll be missing out.
Feb 4, 2017 3:56 am
alright. i'm sorry too.
Feb 4, 2017 10:25 pm
I'm sorry!
I think I'm in that boat too. Life's really kicking in on my end and I'm in like 10 games and DMing two so I really need to clear my game cache. Hopefully someone else will be able to get more fun out of this and participate more than I would have been able to.
Farewell!
