Ryyrik shoves past Billy and the stone dwarves "What's there to look at? They're stone, end of story, I aim to end whoever is responsible."
Sep 16, 2017 4:17 am
Phineas also observes the statues, but quietly from behind. He listens for the secrets of the stones and cross-references their cryptic language with his father's magic lessons from long ago.
OOC:

Gunnar lowers hild s weapon and moves up alongside the others. Petrified dwarves? Who or what could have done this?
Sep 18, 2017 6:59 pm
They were heading the same way you were done the tunnel.

The statues are perfect, every hair is exactly right. There is some spell been placed on these once living dwarves.
Sep 18, 2017 7:06 pm
Ulfren grips his axe tightly, eyes tracking down the tunnel in the direction the statues face. He moves again, trodding towards the unknown.
Sep 18, 2017 7:14 pm
Ryyrik follows Ulfren, his shield and warhammer at the ready, with an angry scowl across his face.
Sep 19, 2017 5:31 pm
Phineas is elated at the realization of what he is seeing.

"Does anyone recognize these Dwarves? Are they from our time?"

He looks around and only sees scowls.

"Don't you see? They are frozen, just like we were. Not in ice, but in stone! What if this happened within decades of when we were frozen? What if it happened to everyone under the mountain?"

Phineas pauses for a moment to let it sink in, and then finishes his thought.

"All of our loved ones would still be alive, just trapped in stone! If we find a way to break the spell, we may yet hold them in our arms once again!"

Understanding what Phineas is getting at from the beginning, Gunnar runs his hand over one of the petrified dwarves' faces, wondering.
Sep 19, 2017 5:56 pm
"And they're warding themselves from something," continues Ulfren, voice like gravel as he presses onward. "That something might still be here."
Sep 19, 2017 6:14 pm
Ryyrik follows up Ulfren's ending statement with a growl "Not for long." his fist curls tightly around his warhammer as he follows.
Sep 20, 2017 11:04 pm
Phineas sounds more confident and energetic than ever before.

"I never thought of that Ulfren! I can't say if our kin warded themselves, or whether this was something inflicted upon them, but the magic they used, merging earth magicks with the arcane, that is knott that I can undo. I don't know how long it will take, but I will devote the rest of my life to that task."

"If there were ever a purpose for Wizard's son turned Druid, this is it!"

If you'd like to create your own, great, if not I can
Gunnar isn't quite sure those are dwarves.....

Ulfren did not voice his recognition of one of the statues as the aunt of his wife. He never got along with Vandabelle Broadshoulder, but the warrior-crone was still family and her skills in battle earned her respect. Ulfren fought the pang of loss from showing through his stony expression.

He did, however, state aloud the implication. "Hold onto that thought, Phineas. Our kin here might-a turned into stone at the same time we was in ice, but we ain't sure if it was the doing of Lord Rain-Hell or not."
Sep 22, 2017 6:26 am
"Indeed Ulfren, I don't think Reinhel is responsible. I'm just saying if it's possible for us to be frozen in ice for a thousand years and live to tell the tale, maybe our kin frozen in stone can... Oh my gods!"

Phineas stops mid-sentence as it suddenly dawns on him that one of the statues is his clan. He rushes to embrace it but his hands fall short of touching the stones.

"This is Fimblebraun Feldsparr, Master of Arms of the Feldsparr clan! He tried for five years to teach me to swing an axe. Said he never had a worse student in his whole life."

He stares in amazement at the statue, looking at every detail while beaming a hopeful smile on his face.

Uncle, I will not fail you now.
OOC:
Do the statues look noticeably older than when we last remember seeing them, Lunitar?
Sep 22, 2017 11:25 pm
OOC:
Not noticeable, but dwarves age slowly, so time might have passed
