Peering in the door, you see these are cells, the first one contains a long dead female halfling, mostly rotted away. The second one you pass has a dead and badly beaten rock gnome lays within the cell. The third, around the corner at the bottom has a recently dead hill dwarf is in it.

Ulfren tries to open the door to the cell containing the dwarf body. If the door is locked, the barbarian will try a rough attempt at picking the lock... with his boot.

Rolls

Athletics to bash open door if it's locked - (1d20+5)

(14) + 5 = 19

Phineas grabs the sack of potions and arrows and hurries to catch up to Ulfren. When he sees the bodies in the cells, his heart sinks a little. He still hopes to find evidence of a widespread petrification of his community - a strange thing to hope, but it would mean his people could still be rescued. But is it just a hopeful fantasy?

While Ulfren bashes at the door, Phineas notes "Hmm, the poor fellow here died recently. At least one Dwarf was still active here then."

Then, he produces the yellow potions from the sack and scrutinizes them with an enhanced eye (arcana check result is 28).

Rolls

Attempt to identify potion (arcana check?) + guidance - (1d20+6, 1d4)

1d20+6 : (20) + 6 = 26

1d4 : (2) = 2

The door doesn't budge as it is heavy, but the hinges weren't as lucky. The door opens from the hinge side and lists as it falls to the ground.

Phineas instantly knows the yellow is a potion of invisibility and the other is a Potion of supreme healing due to the nat 20.

"If he was active, there may be more," Ulfren grunts. "See if you can figure out what he croaked from."
Aug 5, 2018 2:16 am
Phineas pulls out his quarterstaff first and vigorously pokes it. Then, if it doesn't move, he'll try to find the cause of death. (medicine check 10 total)

Rolls

Medicine with guidance - (1d20+4, 1d4)

1d20+4 : (5) + 4 = 9

1d4 : (1) = 1

Aug 7, 2018 12:53 am
The dwarf appears to have been beaten and left for dead, which happened.
Aug 9, 2018 6:54 am
"Anybody recognize him?" says Ulfren, even as he tries to place the deceased in his own memory. He steps aside and calls the other dwarves in for their own inspections, while he switches places with Gunnar to stand watch.
Aug 10, 2018 10:07 pm
The dwarf is young and wouldn't have been alive when you were last here.
Aug 10, 2018 10:25 pm
Ulfren snorts. "So he weren't froze maybe?" he says aloud. "That means we have dwarves running about while we was gone. Let's move!"

He heads for the unexplored regions of the hallway.
Aug 15, 2018 12:01 am
The cell you didn't past the first time, towards the top on the left has a barely breathing freshly beaten forest gnome is crumpled on the floor.
Aug 15, 2018 12:27 am
Ulfren nearly passes by without a second glance, but likely the shift in movement calls his attention like any hunter. He attempts his tried-and-true method of dwarven lockpicking. "Got a live one," he says as he plants his boot into the door to try and break it down.

Rolls

Athletics - (1d20+5)

(2) + 5 = 7

Aug 15, 2018 10:10 pm
The door seems more solid and doesn't budge.
Aug 16, 2018 1:38 am
Gunnar goes to help Ulfren with the door, taking turns kicking it. (Help action to Ulfren for Advantage) Failing that, he tells everyone to stand back so he can shoot the lock.

Timing it like smiths upon an anvil, Ulfren aims his boot at the same target as Gunnar's.

Rolls

Athletics, Advantage from Help - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (14) + 5 = 19

1d20+5 : (15) + 5 = 20

Aug 18, 2018 11:34 pm
The door slightly opens as the rock crumbles around the lock.

"Step aside, everyone. Goodberries will cure even the worst conditions!" Phineas exclaims as he enters the room. He helps the injured fellow digest a berry to get the healing started.

As Phineas helps the gnome sit up, he can feel ribs cracking and grating and his rasping breath.
