Yes, they certainly seem to have everything under control, Ulfren thinks, and remains where he is.

And that's some right fine work ya done there, ma'am.

I got some biscuits in my pack I c'n offer you if'n you can spare a cup of tea?

Whether she invites them in for tea or not, Billy will ask, Did you say we brung the cold with us? That means it's creepin' north. If we got ahead of what's causin' the ice, then it might not be safe to stay here.

"I don't think so, Ulfren," stating the obvious.

Phineas stays back so as not to crowd the old human.

The old lady eyes Baern, "Then why are you forcing your way into my home? When the guards come after the orcs, I'll make sure they run you through too! Such a rude little fellow! I have all the food I am needing I can over most of you a hot tea or brew, I might not have enough for the rude one though."

"I did not know there was anyone alive when I entered your home," Baern says calmly. "Had our knocks been answered, I would not have forced my way in."

She dismisses him with a hand and as she puts a pot on the stove and starts a fire in it she says, "At least you'll keep the orcs back I guess."
Mar 5, 2017 7:05 pm
"Indeed we will," Baern mutters, infusing the comment with much more fury than necessary.

Ulfren waits patiently, unable to hear the conversation inside the house. "I smell a fire," he comments to Phineas. "Hope Gunnar's not behind that."

The thought of a warm hearth appeals very much to Phineas as he shakes the frost from his beard.

"If it's no trouble for this elderly human I'd be happy to take her offer of hospitality. Perhaps we can be of assistance to her as well"

Gunnar is out by the trees flanking the house with his eyes trained mostly on the back yard. He doesn't have much of a view of the front door but he does know Baern and Billy are in there. He hears voices for a little while but they've since gone quiet, and he has no idea what's going on. He glances in Ulfren and Ryrik's direction - they don't seem to have stirred from their spot. Gunnar maintains his position, on high alert.

Ryyrik sits by the sled, his flask corked by his side, deep in concentration.

Phineas will join Billy and Baern inside, stomping the snow off his boots before entering and bidding the old woman good day.

Since three dwarves entering an old woman's hut seems like it's not worth keeping watch on a window, Ulfren heads to the orc to inspect the body. He looks to see what felled the orc, and if there is anything of value left in its possession.

Well, ma'am, I sher do apologize fer Baern here. He's a young'n and ain't been taught how ta behave in front of a lady. If'n you'd feel more comfortable him waitin' outside, he can take some tea to the boys while we chat about the doin's round here. Billy gives Baern the stink eye for his rude behavior. Like I said outside, you can call me Billy. This feller here's Phineas. An' you met Baern.

He digs into his BoH and pulls out some biscuits. It's been a spell since I had a good cup a tea and I right 'preciate it. I'd be more than grateful if I could offer you a couple biscuits.

Now I hate to get down ta business 'fore we had a chance to exchange all the civilized pleasantries, but there's bad business about an' we aim ta see what we can do about it. Did I hear ya right that it's been gettin' colder? Cause we just come from a direction where everythin's already froze solid. An' if'n the cold's headed this way, ya might not be safe stayin' here.

Baern seems totally unfazed by Billy's indirect rebuke.

Ulfren finds 6 gold pieces, an empty wine flask and a heavy green ring.

The old lady pulls out a crock and pours a brownish liquid into a pot and adds some leaves. "Yes, one second I was doing in that orc and then I turned around and there was ice and snow everywhere."

As the brew heats up, you can definitely smell some kind of liquor from the pot.

Billy has a shocked look on his face. Ya mean, just now? he asks her. It just now got cold?

He looks at Phineas. Ya think mebbe we got ahead of it? That it might hit a deep freeze any minute? Or do ya think it's losin' power and slush is all we're gonna get?
Mar 7, 2017 1:19 am
"You killed that orc by yourself?" Baern says, raising an eyebrow in admiration with a tint of disbelief. To Billy he says, "It didn't just get cold. Woman, orc and world alike were frozen in time. When she thawed enough to return to consciousness, she had no recollection of being frozen at all, and it seemed as if snow and ice appeared in the blink of an eye. As the stars have shown, it has been centuries since this world was frozen initially."
