At Phineas' shrug, Ryyrik turns to Ulfren "What a proper use of our time." he says with a scoff and a heavy tone of sarcasm. "What say you and I do some observations of our own? My hammer has been waiting 1,000 years for some action and it's rude to keep things waiting." he hoists his shield and hammer up, eagerly awaiting Ulfren's answer.

"Easy, lad," says Ulfren, following up with a heavy sigh. "I unnerstand what you're feeling, but letting off steam like that is jus' as impetuous as these boys heading off with nary a word.

"We's all keyed up. But everyone's running around wanting t' do their own thing." He semi-turns to address everyone else nearby. "You all forgettin' we's here for a job? You all forgettin' we's supposed to work together? Half-a ya'll go pokin' your nose into places without telling anyone, while the other half jus' want t' kill, and from what I see you all just thinking 'bout yourselves. Hells, if all you lads want to do is your own whims and desires, jus' go on home and do it like you already was; otherwise, why are you here?"

Ryyrik's excitement turns to a scowl "My course is set, even if I have to do it alone, that thing dies. I'm done letting the lot of you hold my hand back so you can kiss and hug with the enemy. I'm here to lend aid, we were sent to kill orcs. If you're denying me that, then what are you here for?"

"I can take it down from here if you really want to kill it. " Gunnar states matter-of-factly. " I doubt it can lead us to its master. As far as I can tell, the connection has been broken - this puppet has had its strings cut."

Ryyrik smirks at Gunnar "Fire when ready." he cheerfully says to him as he makes his way towards the orc.

"Who says I'm denying?" grunts Ulfren. "But our king did not send us out here just so we's all go our sep'rate ways. They made us into a unit and Dirk, bless his boots, saw somethin' in each of us that he figured was gonna work. You's want to kill orcs, you does it with everyone, and don't be thinkin' you can just go off solo. I be tired of all this selfish thinking dishonoring my friend."

Gunnar pauses with his finger on the trigger, listening to Ulfren's words. It's true, it feels like this squad is falling apart, and Gunnar knows he's played a part in that with his desire to find some solitude to sort his thoughts. Maybe they've all been struggling with trying to wrap their heads around this magical freeze and this thaw a thousand years later and what that means for each of them.

Phineas can barely hear Ulfren at this range, but the gist of it gets through. Phineas painfully realizes he's just as responsible for pulling the group in another direction rather than working to forge a consensus, getting lost in his thoughts and fretting, and forgetting his responsibilities to those around him. Being part of Dwarven society has never been easy for him, and here was one place he felt he belonged. He couldn't let this unit fall apart; for himself and the people here depending on them. He will not.

He raises a signal to Ulfren that he hasn't used since Dirk's passing:

I'm with you, Captain. Awaiting your lead.

Ulfren looks back at Ryyrik. "Now, if the scouts say that thing's an orc, let's go bag us an orc! He's a big one, and the first rule of fighting big ones is to cut 'em down to size. Gunnar! Take his knees!"

The old dwarf slips his battleaxe from his belt loop and unslings his shield. "After you," he says politely to Ryyrik.

"Aye." Gunnar fires and reloads.

Baern stands by silently as the others argue, maintaining his hidden state. When Gunnar fires, Baern hunches over and his form is surrounded by a swirl of elemental green. A moment later he stands, his form completely that of a huge, humanoid-like tree. With a the creaking, thunderous sound of trees swinging in the wind, the new Baern swings hard at the frost orc with his hammer. The head of his weapon is now entwined with thick, spine-covered vines which add to the power of his blow.

Ryyrik makes ready for the orc.

Gunnar takes aim.

Ulfren follows Ryyrik, chugging along to get into melee.

Baern prepares to swing again.

Billy, feeling sick in his heart that his group has chosen to attack such a pathetic, twisted creature, nevertheless follows behind to aid his companions in any way he can.
