Hmm. Considering that some of us are Mountain Dwarves and some of us are Hill Dwarves, Billy is from an urban environment and Ulfren is a tribal nomad. I figured we were all from different clans.

I had a response that hinges on Ulfren's clan name, but I can alter it if none of this has been decided.

To be fair, I don't know specifically how dwarven clans work in D&D nor in this specific setting, and I'm making things up on the fly. I generally hold to the opinion that dwarves are typically insular to other races but not to kin, so mountain dwarves and hill dwarves would be treated as such by my thinking.

I also think that one can be from the same clan, but pursue completely different lifestyles. Sort of like adhering to a dwarven oath of loyalty to the clan, but free to do anything and go anywhere. I envisioned Ulfren in his youth as living on the outer tundra with a small settlement of dwarves, free to live their own lives. When the king (or whoever presides as ruler of the clan) sent out the call to war, Ulfren's oath bound him to journey back to the heart of the realm.

For those who wish to not be in the same clan, the oath to a different ruler (perhaps cousin of king or queen) might bind them to the same task as part of a sworn alliance.

Blackthaw is Ulfren's family name. The name of the clan is up for debate.

You may be from different clans, but all come from the same community in the mountain... even if some moved to the forest...lol

I'm already chest-deep in preps for Mother's Day weekend, which is traditionally an extremely busy time at the cake shop. I'll still pop up here and there but will be unreliable at best. So if I start holding things up please go ahead and move my PC's along. Thanks!

I have a couple of concerns about our game. People, including me are posting less and less, so I am guessing others have concerns too.

Lunitar, I hope you don't take any of this personally. You are a great GM and I have learned from your style and incorporated those lessons into my own game. Also, I am having a lot of fun in this game.

I know myself and others are concerned with the game's pace. In the 6.5 months of gaming, the story hasn't progressed beyond what we as players already knew from the intro post. In terms of XP, we are not going to level until the mid 2019s.

I love this setting and want to dig into it more. If anything, Lunitar, take my frustrations as a compliment to your great world building. And, please help us explore it more. Maybe we can do a time jump to the next interesting place?

Before I add story and take you to the next area, is everyone okay with that or do you want to RP to the next area?

I am also sorry I have not posted as much, work has been demanding lots of overtime and my small farm has grown. I'll try and get things up quicker and more regular.

The next area being our meeting with the Freeze King, correct? I'm fine with a GM time jump, Ryyrik will just be drinking and smashing half-empty bottles of the supplied wine.

Hey Lunitar, don't feel bad about not posting as often. If things are demanding and you don't have much time, just let us know and we will give you whatever time you need.

Glad to hear your operation is growing! I'd love to hear about it sometime.

I don't necessarily mind a long time between postings (although a heads-up is welcome), but when so little is done with those sporadic posts, it becomes difficult to maintain interest. Five and a half months of game play is a long time (even on play by post) to have so little to show for it.

I'm perfectly okay with a time jump as well. You own a farm? Do tell! :-)

For Ulfren, it looks like Reinhel has everything under control and in the barbarian's mind there's no need for the dwarves anymore.

With that in mind, how much of a jump are we taking to the next area? The humans didn't make that good an impression on Ulfren, especially since they were effectively dismissed once they arrived. He would need a reason to stick around, otherwise he'd opt to just go home.

Same for Gunnar actually. And that's before you factor in his soldier mindset (he's going to follow where his commanding officer, Ulfren, goes).

Baern's heart was not in this mission wholey to begin with, and now that he is nearly certain that his love died hundreds of years ago while he was frozen in time, he has little or no motivation to be here at all, and the thing he wants to do most is return to his Circle and begin the process of emotional repair so that he can live normally again.

I'm just in town limits with a double lot, but I am trying my best to manage the land well. I currently have 12 chickens, 6 ducks, 10 rabbits, 10 quail and 48 more quail that just went in the incubator. I have fodder trays started, duck weed growing, mealworms in oatmeal in bins. I have slacked off a bit on my herbs this year, but I still have time to get some in. Then work wants me to be an electrician 12 hours a day, lol.

That's so awesome--I envy you! I have always wanted to have a small farm or even just a garden! My grandpa lived on a farm--chickens, a pig, a few goats, lots of fruit trees. My folks would take my brother and to spend school breaks there and we loved it! :-)

I've tried growing herbs in a small plot here in the city but I must have whatever the oppisite is of a green thumb because I manage to kill everything! Even basil, which I've been told hardly requires any care! :-(
