Treasured possession -A weapon (e.g. service revolver, your old hunting rifle, the hidden knife in your boot).
Why person is significant? they have crossed you and you seek revenge. For what do you blame them? (e.g. death of a loved one
your financial ruin, marital breakup). Maybe not Gardiner, ...up to you

Knifesedgegames says:
A belief in fate (e.g. karma, the class system, superstitious)A childhood friend (e.g. classmate, neighbor, imaginary friend). - This could have been Gardiner?
The place you were happiest in your life (e.g. the park bench where you first kissed, your university).
Ladies’ man/seductress (e.g. suave, charming voice, enchanting eyes).
Another 1d10 for possession and 1d10 for why the person is significant

- Was happiest in University where he studied Archaeology. (Key element)
- A classmate in University shamed him and prevented his further advancement in the field. Karabekian moved back to Rhode Island and indulged his passion for rare books.
- Let's discard the ladies' man angle.
- A Victorian era gentleman's sword cane.
[ +- ] sword cane

A fine Victorian era, gentleman's sword cane, Toledo.
Toledo blade, Malacca cane shaft.
This walking stick or walking cane measures just over 87cms long. Drawn, the sword is 85.5cms long, with a blade length of 69cms.
The fluted spiral top is silver plate, with the plating now worn with age. It sits atop of a two piece Malacca cane shaft which acts as the hilt and houses the blade.
The Toledo blade is single edged and bears a frosted acid etched panel to one face. The supple blade has a single fuller to each face and a full tip. Its surfaces remain in original bright finish.

You got it. Are you spending any time at the University during this 3 month period?

Karabekian managed to sell The Dreamer's Dictionary to the collector and saved the shop. Things are looking good for the time being. (No change to Credit Rating - Cash and spending level now shown in notes)

Yes, Karabekian would have visited the University library as often as possible in the hopes of learning more about the strangeness he witnessed.
I imagine he would have felt the need to move out of Ma Shanks' but also would have been curious about what became of the police investigation into Gardiner's death (despite the obvious danger of being implicated).

Make a sanity check.
Keeping his distance for several days the investigation was ruled failed attempted suicide then the resulting insane man was shot down by police. There was deemed nothing supernatural about it, despite the apparent satanic connotations of the room. It was in the local papers for a day or two then blew over. The room was cleared, the belongings sold at auction to cover the costs to the owner of the property, no further questions asked. The room remained empty and things got back to normal. Unable to afford much else, Karabekian's options were limited, either continue sleeping in the shop or return home.

Karabekian did return to the boarding hous, but began to drvote more and more of his time at either his shop at the local library, as well as visiting the University on several occasions. He ended up sleeping in the book shop just as often as he did in his own room.
Rolls
Sanity - (1d100)
(90) = 90
bonus die - (1d10)
(8) = 8

Ok it's simply a Sanity roll. As you are using your key connection ( you are able to do this without it but for the first time and as a demonstration of the system, you are using it this time) you get to roll the 'tens' twice, an additional d10 and take the best results.

Disaster!
During his time at the university library, Karabekian runs into Thomas Jeffrey, one of the students responsible for his advancement in Archaeology. Old wounds arose and an argument turned into a fist fight in the middle of the university. As a result, both were thrown out of the library.
Until Karabekian can mend his reputation with the library administrators, he is not permitted to use the place.

Curse that old Thomas Jeffrey! If it hadn't been for him all those years ago Karabekian would have fulfilled his dream of becoming an archaeologist, would probably be at a dig in Cairo or Gobekli Tepe or someplace, any place but here! And now, thanks to him, I've been banned - BANNED! how HUMILIATING! - from one if the nation's finest repositories of knowledge!
I'll show him a real curse, yessir! And maybe I'll start carrying grandpa's old walking cane so I if I ever run into that charlatan Jeffrey again I can show him what's what!
