"Hey Tommy! Do you know where your dad is?" Larry asks as he plays with a quarter in his hands.

"Sure Mr Getz! He's upstairs, arranging his paintings again."
Mar 6, 2017 1:22 am
"Hey, thanks kid!" Larry flips him the quarter and heads upstairs.

Karabekian arches an eyebrow. He would never have suspected the landlord to be a man of culture. But then again, these paintings would no doubt turn out to be nothing but childish smears on canvas. Or worse: barbaric reproductions of the classics. Sighing, he follows Getz upstairs.

I just want to point out, the landlord isn't actually the guy who owns the flats, he manages the estate on behalf of the owner, who is an elderly lady. So the money he collects doesn't go to him. He is more of a grounds keeper then what we would call a landlord today, he certainly doesn't fix your rates or earn a cut of them. He's an employee of the flats. Most of our interactions would be him fixing your broken stuff so I don't see where all the flack is coming from...

This is true, he does take your money but doesn't get to spend it.

Do we know this, or are all our dealings with him?

Karabekian has no issue with the rent or anything like that. His condescension comes from his being generally a cultural snob. In other words, he will condescend exactly the same way towards Getz & Kreutzwald. I must point out, however, that he's generally a nice guy, it's just that he feels intellectually superior and sometimes that comes bubbling up to the surface.

@Lunitar: You would know this, the boarding house is named for its owner, and I vaguely remember that Ma Shanks lives here.

@Jabes: The point was more for all the flack Marc was getting for being 'the guy who takes all your money.' I'm sure you can hate Marc for any number of other reasons.

Karabekian knocks at Marc's door. He clears his throat. "Mister Armando, it's Karabekian. Getz and Kreutzwald are here as well."
Mar 6, 2017 6:05 am
From beyond the door you hear Marc shout, It's open. Marc is currently in the process of taking down a series of synchromistic paintings and replasing them with a collection of country side paintings of a tonalistic style. Someone with an artistic mind would notice a variety of different artists in the collection. A pair of Thekla Larks sit on the table eating from a small bowl of seeds, they make know attempt to leave by both the open window or the door. Gentlemen what can I do for you? I haven't noticed any building wide problems...

Karabekian opens the door and enters. He's immediately taken by the modest but tasteful art collection and realizes there's more to this man than any of them could have ever guessed. "Good day to you, Mister Armando. We hope we haven't come at an inopportune time. Mister Getz here has a proposal that might interest you."
Mar 7, 2017 1:11 am
"Marc, how have you been, wow your kid is quite the artist." Larry says, just trying to get a laugh, "Tis true, I'd like to offer you a proposal, I have a job in need of some extra help and thought you might like to tag along. We might be able to even find a painting or two in the basement just waiting to see the light of day. I've got...." Larry looks around and rethinks his pay. It appears he has a richer taste than he thought, "a five spot for you to help. A landlord has some issues...."

Larry explains the rest of the details.

Marc seems conflicted, I wouldn't want to leave Tomi here on his own, but I guess I'm in.

The neighbour across the hall, Mrs Madeira, is always happy to take care of Tomi.

Everyone, if you haven't already in the development phase (inbetween scenarios) you can make a roll against Luck and if you roll higher than your current score, add 1d10. You can exceed your initial Luck but no more than 99

I recon that might be a standing arrangement. So if Marc isn't home Tommy just pops over there. Still doesn't change the fact that Marc doesn't like leaving Tommy...

Also sorry about all the switching of spelling I've been doing with the names. It's not really change how they would sound out loud, but I keep flipping around with how they would actually spell their names (though I have more or less settled on Marc).

OK you are all free now to decide how to proceed. Any research or straight to the house?
Mar 7, 2017 11:58 pm
"I think we should go look at the house and see what we find. What do you all say?"
Mar 8, 2017 5:06 am
"I say, let's get moving already." Valentin says grumpily from the doorway.
