Coinage of Jeres (Yuoric Kingdom of the Marke Lands)

Originally the Marke Land of Jeres was a settlement of miners, farmers, and military units from Mathia in the Nadrilian West. Jeres only broke away from Mathian vassalage to become an independent kingdom in 782 DV (78 years ago). Because of this, one can still find some older Mathian coins in circulation alongside the currently minted Jeresian coins. When these legacy coins circulate into the possession of the king's governors or the church, they are most often transferred to the capital of Jeres (Austrel), melted down, and recast as Jeresian coins. Until then, they circulate freely between the populace and are accepted at normal face value.

Legacy Mathian coins found in Jeres and the surrounding lands:
Stallion (GP): horse on one side, sword and plow on the other
Decade (SP): star with 10 points on one side, vase on the other
Hound (CP): great canine on one side
Old Royal (PP): castle on one side, griffon on the other

Current Jeresian coinage:
Crown Marke (GP): crown on one side, shield and a flag on a mast on other
Bridge (SP): also called a "Sharp" in slang. Fortified bridge keep on one side, eagle on the other. Hexagon shape that has sharp edges when freshly minted.
Pan (CP): corn and wheat harvest, imprint only on 1 side, has a slight concave shape, making it look like a small shallow pan.
Plate (PP): sphinx on one side (sphinx supposedly advised Jeresian founder Jer Lord Artorre), scepter regalia (a staff exchanged between the King and the Church in some ceremonies) on the other side. Decagon shape.
