What's in a Name...

So I have this one character sheet that I've been using for a while since its part of the longest and most developed game I'm in on the site, and I've changed the name (in sheet) a few times as the character has developed. However, I've recently had the problem where the sheet reverts to (possibly) the first name that I ever typed into the name slot. I have changed it back to what I want several times now and it keeps doing it (randomly, as far as I can tell).
i.e. the name in the sheet right now is Theren "Twinblade" Arenas. Occasionally, the sheet resets it to just Theren.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Hmm... this character seems oddly reminiscent of a rather famous drow ranger who shall remain nameless :P

Hm... I actually don't even know how this bug could happen... I'll have to explore it. I know it's come up in the past, but I was never able to replicate it, and it went away, so I assumed network/user issues. I guess it's more pronounced, but I'm gonna have to figure out how it's happening to be able to fix it :/

In the past, it was the inclusion of the quotation marks that caused the issue. You can save the name with quotation marks, but the next time you edit the character sheet, the name chomps right where the first quotation mark would be. There would even be a space after "Theren " in the name field.

You would then have to re-enter the full name with quotation marks in order to get the name back.

So without knowing how the Edit code renders, my guess is that when it opens up the page the first quotation mark is acting as a delimiter of sorts that causes the field to think the data ends there.

I know quotes was a problem in the past, but when we switched to Mongo, that should have been resolved...

Admittedly, I failed/forgot to test that when we upgraded. I just tried it again and found the same behavior.

Perhaps it's not the database, but the page itself dropping the text after the first quotation mark?

I'll go through the code again.

Haha, I know who you're talking about now, but in my defense, at the time of creation I didn't know barely anything about him! And hey, he's not a drow at least... xD
