Hrowlfuhaar, Wookie Pathfinder

Okay guys and guy-ettes, here's my worksheet for my character Hrowlfuhaar (Hrowlf to his friends and companions). Feel free to offer any advice/critiques before I submit him to the game.

Name: Hrowlfuhaar

Background: Born on Kashyyyk, Hrowlf lived his early life in a small treetop village as the youngest of three cubs born to his parents. At a young age, he stood out from the rest of his village as being more in tune with the jungle around him, more at home away from home befriending and bringing home wild animals he would discover on his journeys. When a Jedi recruiter visited his village, the young Wookiee's force sensitivity shone like a beacon and he was bundled off to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant as one of the few Wookiee initiates.

Being separated by language from most of his fellow learners as well as a surprisingly large number of the masters lead the young Wookiee to focus ever more on the natural world, a difficult thing to do on the city-planet of Coruscant. But life finds a way, even under the harshest circumstances, and Hrowlf learned to find peace and solace in the gardens and parks of the temple. Still, he longs for a freedom the plasteel planet could not afford.

Can you change Pilot (Space) to Pilot (Planetary)? That way we'd have both covered with my Duros having Pilot (Space).

Well, my only concern is that you didn't buy up any characteristics other than willpower. I listened to a couple of the Order 66 podcasts covering character design, etc, and even the game developers state that its best to buy up characteristics at creation. Otherwise, you have to spend XP like nuts just to buy Dedication to add +1 to a characteristic. I'm just concerned that you might've limited the long-term usefulness of the character by over purchasing talents at creation.

I do think the idea of a Wookie naturalist/druid on Coruscant rather ironic. "Here Wookie, go play with potted plants in the Jedi gardens." ;) But I like the backstory.

Eh. If it turns out to be a bad move long term then I'll know for next time.

He'll be more of a specialist in his field with only one characteristic at 3. No big. It just means more skills for him in the short run, I think.

And it's for that very reason, RustInPieces, that during the EotE beta I lobbied for characteristic points instead of XP cost…but was shot down (obviously). I posited that instead of charging XP to raise characteristics each character would get 3 characteristic points to place wherever, with no characteristic higher than 4.

Here's my kinda ranty take on the whole thing: if you give me a Star Wars book with the word "Force" in the title, expect me to want to take some damn Force powers right off the bat. Don't price me out of them, game devs. That's a dick move.

I agree that it doesn't make a ton of sense, but I think that's why they added "Knight level play" to Force and Destiny. It could be unrelated though. Collaborating on some alternative character creation rules might be something the wider community (not just Gamer's Plane) would appreciate.

Anyway, not to sidetrack from the character at hand.
