Arina says:
@Happy. Your character sheet looks great. What kind of Aasimar are you?

Also, you should have more than 10 hps!
I think I just gave him the starting hp, my bad let me roll that up.

Rolls

2nd level - (1d8+2)

(5) + 2 = 7

3rd level - (1d8+2)

(3) + 2 = 5

I'll go with the Protector Aasimar sub race, let me change my sheet to reflect that.

If some more front line is needed, I'm happy to go with a Paladin. I've been wanting to try out the Conquest subclass for a long time. He'll be a half-elf.

On my way to work with a meeting after, but I'll post the character sheet this evening.

I'm curious about the Cavalier but I don't know if there's a place for a horse on this adventure. I could go good old Barbarian. I haven't tried the Ancestral Guardian path yet. I also have a couple of orphaned PC's: a Hexblade and a Swashbuckler. Dang, so many choices!

@Tsvao: As a level 3 paladin you should have 3 first level spell slots not 5. Also, you can prepare a number of spells equal to your spellcasting mod plus half of your paladin level rounded down. In your case this means 5 spells, not 7. Everything else seems ok.

Also, you might want to keep track of your lay on hands pool. Just a recommendation :)

Fixed my spell slots. I knew it was three. Not sure why I wrote five.

For prepared spells: 2 are oath spells. I didn't think those counted. I thought they were always prepared. No?
Sep 28, 2018 2:12 am
Yes they are! Oath spells are bonus spells! My bad.

Good job on the character sheet. Please jump into the thread I made for you in the Game forum. It contains all of the information that you need and it also has a list of magic items for you to choose from. Happy has already chosen the fire stone so that's off limits. First in gets first choice :)

Ronda and her pet mouse, Rousey

Rolled stats: 10, 15, 13, 10, 16, 14
After racial adjustments: STR 18, CON 16, DEX 14, INT 10, WIS 13, CHA 10

1st: Rage, Unarmored Defense
2nd: Reckless Attack, Danger Sense
3rd: Path of the Ancestral Guardian, Ancestral Protectors

Bronze Bracers of Arethena

This pair of bronze bracers was used by an ancient celestial being during the Elemental War. At some point during an ancient battle, her bracers were cut from her and they fell to the material plane

I would really, REALLY like Ronda to punch hard. Would you allow a refluff of a maul as her fist?
1. It would still be "two-handed" (she can only hit for 2d6+STR if she has her other hand free).
2. She can be "disarmed"....uhmmm...I'm not sure how...

I'm not trying to teach my barbarian martial arts - it's just a refluff. But if anyone feels like this would step on our monk's toes I'm okay with just rolling with a regular maul.
Customizing the Urchin background: I'll be honest, the only real reason I chose the Urchin background was for that pet mouse. I started with the picture and built everything around that. City Secrets is probably utterly useless but that's fine because it still fits the character. Disguise Kit proficiency doesn't fit though. Can that be Land Vehicles, maybe? And can I change Sleight-of-hand proficiency to either Animal Handling (again, the mouse) or Survival?

Maybe if you wore some kind of fist weapon it could work.

Spiked Fist
Martial Melee Weapons
Damage 1d8 piercing
A leather glove or some kind of brass knuckles with spikes protruding from them.

Personally, I have no problem with players reskinning anything. It just adds to the flavour. However, as this potentially effects chief12justice why don't you send him a PM?
I think that land vehicles would be difficult to justify for a street urchin as they are usually only used by the middle and upper classes. Farm hands maybe? Tell you what, you figure a way to write it into your backstory so it makes sense and you can change it :)

I think Animal Handling is the least used skill statistically in D&D, so if you want to swap out another skill for it then I see no problem with it lol. However, our party is really short on survival proficient characters. Does anyone have a problem with Jabes using survival instead?

I have no issues with it.

I’m fine with it too.

When you said we were light in Survival I thought, I have that. I just checked. I selected nature by mistake. Is it ok for me to swap that? My guy doesn’t know nature well but he does track down people to make them suffer. ;)
Sep 29, 2018 1:11 pm
You'll have to take it as a half-elf proficieny as neither the soldier nor the paladin have natural access to it. Please double check just to make sure. I definitely have no problem with you changing your sheet before we actually start lol.

Im not insecure about having another melee fighter with us. Even if it’s a brawler.

Backgrounds, by RAW, are fully customizable within the bounds of the options given (potentially mixed and matched with other books like SCAG too).

Thanks, everyone!

Okay, I settled on Stealth & Survival for the Urchin skills, and then Perception & Athletics for the Barbarian skills. When I mentioned Land Vehicles I was imagining the street gang specializing in grand theft auto.

@arina: Since @chief12justice says he's okay with it, are you approving the 2d6+STR damage (with the restrictions I suggested) on Ronda's hammer fist? Or do you want me to go with @Happy_Potato's 1d8+STR Spiked Fist suggestion? Either way, I think it might be cool to build it into the bracers rather than have it be an innate ability. What do you think?

@Jabes: great idea. That also means she can be disarmed assuming the enemy is savvy enough to remove your bracers. I have edited my previous thread and added an additional ability to the bracers. Let me know what you think.
Sep 30, 2018 4:59 pm
It's awesome! Her signature move will be a two-handed hammer-fist to emulate a maul attack. But it just occurred to me, now that we've tied this to the bracers does that nake the attack magical?
Sep 30, 2018 11:36 pm
I was thinking about that. I really don't want to make her attacks magical. At least not yet. I'm thinking to rule it like this. The magical nature of the gauntlets comes from the shifting nature of the metal material of the bracers. They can form into solid shapes but those shapes themselves are mundane. Magic weapons are powered with magic for the sole purpose of doing extra damage. So while your bracers are magical they won't make your attacks magical.

Does that make sense or is it too illogical?
