I look at Kaio, Rixon, and Thorolf. "You three go, I'll stay with Geran and the woman. If you run into trouble, try not to get yourself killed."
Sep 8, 2017 4:44 am
Likewise, Rixon smirks at Xaar. We'll be quiet enough, the three of us.

Turning to Geran, I agree with your assessment of our potential, We've a long and bright future if we can find ways to support one another. I look forward to it.

We won't be long.

Rixon gathers his scant belongings and nods to Kaio and Thorolf, and the hunt is on.
OOC:
Heading to his last known location, as he disappeared into the distance and/or trees. Advantage from Hunter's Mark.

aaaand thankful for it.

As Geran begins to talk to the woman, she wakes back up, catching only part of his statement.
[ +- ] Elvish
she cries out feebly as tears stream openly down her face and she gingerly rolls away from Geran's kneeling frame, curling into a tight fetal position.
As the other three of you head toward the passage, Rixon looks to the ground and finds a pretty distinctive set of footprints marring the dusty ground heading back through the passage. It's relatively easy to follow for a bit. Soon, you find yourselves approaching the area where the necromancer lived.
J, as you start heading across the open area of the campsite, you hear a set of pounding feet. A glance over the edge reveals a person sprinting down the passage below, raising a light trail of dust behind him. He is unarmed and wearing a set of leather armor. After a few minutes, you see a trio of armed people moving through the mountain pass. The lead man is making an obvious effort to follow some kind of trail.

I speak quietly to Geran, so that the woman does not overhear. She's likely heard enough of our bickering. We must show that we're a capable team who can help her."Geran, that is too much to expect or ask of her. You may think you know what's best, if only everyone just did what you asked of them. But trust must be earned first."

I lean towards the woman, speaking in elvish. "Do you want food or water? Nod and I'll get some for you from my pack."
Sep 8, 2017 3:09 pm
The woman curls up slightly at the question, but nods just a tiny little bit.
Sep 8, 2017 6:46 pm
J watches as they pass, Not completely sure if that's them... I should retrace their tracks back to their camp, and see if I can identify who they are. he waits for them to pass, and begins to proceed with his plan.
Sep 8, 2017 7:11 pm
Not sure why he'd run this way unless he was coming for help from Caruthers. Unfortunate for him.

Rixon presses on after the man, eyes fixed on his trail.
OOC:
You want more checks?
Sep 8, 2017 7:17 pm
OOC:
Go ahead and give me one more. You do remember that you all came from this direction as well. Caruthers was at kind of a choke point on the one path into that "bandit camp" area.
Sep 8, 2017 7:32 pm
OOC:
Ah, right. Incoming...

Hot dice! Rolling like a vengeful Paladin should...

Rixon and company proceed on after the bloodhound-like attentions of the paladin. After a bit longer, you find yourselves at the split in the trail you last passed a day or two ago. You notice the man's trail turns sharply and heads up towards where you found troll tracks when you went that direction.

J, after the group passes you by, you make your way down the winding trail that leads into the passage. You put the trio to your back and move along toward the bandit camp clearing. It's a relatively short walk, and when you arrive, you see two figures kneeling or bent over a prone figure. There is a dead body with a javelin sticking out of it between you and them, and a pair of other prone people in dark pools on the ground.

Geran and Xaar, the pair of you are paying attention to the woman and don't really notice the man just at the end of the entry passage.
Sep 9, 2017 12:57 am
J slowly approaches the corpse and pulls out the javelin. He walks to the 2 men, I hope you guys are helping this woman, and not bringing her harm. The half-orc announces. He cleans the javelin with a piece of cloth, wiping off the blood, and prepares to have a firm grip on it in case these men arent good men.
Sep 9, 2017 1:53 am
I remove the rations and water from my pack and place it within arm's reach of the woman before stepping back from her. The trinkets that adorn my long, matted hair jangle as I stand to attention and face the newcomer. "We'll keep her safe, but who are you? Tell me, you just happen to be taking a stroll this way?" Seems suspicious for this one to show up the moment half our group has left. He think that'd even the odds? Hah. Just looking at him, I can tell he'd underestimate my strength, my ferocity. Most men think they're stronger than women, but nothing could be further from the truth. I could take him. Hell, I've taken down full-sized orcs and we laughed about it afterwards.
Sep 9, 2017 4:52 am
J smirks at the woman, I was sent to join up with a group of haremites. I decided to approach when there were a fewer amount of people in your group so I could make sure of your groups identity. he plants the javelin in the ground, and reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pin, recognize this? he walks closer to show it to the 2, but freezes the moment he sees Geran. So he's alive? What's he doing out here?
Sep 9, 2017 12:50 pm
OOC:
Sorry for the late response.
Geran nods to the woman,
[ +- ] Elvish
he smiles, and stands up to the half-orc making his entrance, who then freezes and stares. Uh, who are you? Why are you looking at me like that? Geran asks, You look oddly familiar...
Sep 9, 2017 12:53 pm
OOC:
Bout time you posted, haha.
J stares at the man for a moment, and then fumbles to find words, You.. he clears his throat, and attempts to clear his mind so he can speak straight, You're alive? I had a feeling you survived the attack but you disappeared as soon as the fog was clear. All I saw were dead assassins.
Sep 9, 2017 12:58 pm
Assassins? How'd he... oh... oh of course. Geran stares at the orc for a moment before responding, You're the one who helped defend me aren't you? That was the day I received my powers. he sighs, and then comes to realization That means... you know my secret then. The secret behind the young Geran Torfrey.

J places the pin back in his pocket, It's been a while, but yes, that was I who defended you from Wessexes assassins. You were but a teen still; a young lad. I was so confused as to why you? Why would Wessex want me to kill you? But I realized who you were as soon as I saw you. Everyone knew about the joyful prince- the one who travelled and performed for citizens to help them be distracted from hard times. You're Camden Anvilard, Prince of Telluria, and true heir to the throne. Why do you hide your identity? Why are you here in the first place, and not reporting to your father of what happened years ago? You do realize your "death" was a huge blow to his will to rule right? Wessex has the upper hand now.
Sep 9, 2017 1:19 pm
I scoff. A prince? If true, that would explain so much- his condescending attitude, coarse personality. Never thought much of kings or royalty. Haven't seen anything to change my mind. True power shouldn't need a crown. "Again with the talking. The rest of the group is scouting ahead. Should I assume you're coming, to serve this future king of yours?"
Sep 9, 2017 1:21 pm
Geran remains silent as J speaks. He hears a ringing in his ears, and everything is dulled out as the only thing going through his head is Prince Camden Anvilard. Feeling dizzy, Geran stumbles a moment, but loses his ability to stand, and he falls to his knees, tears begin to come out of his eyes. I... he sniffs, I've tried so, so hard to keep that hidden away, and then you show up to... he fights away more tears, but can't help it as he thinks of his father, and how his life took a complete that day when the assassins attempted to end his life- how the power suddenly surged into him, and he became Geran Torfrey- Warlock of the Freedom Fighters.

He turns to Moofs, Surprise he forces out a chuckle, Keep this on the low, and you... he turns to J, To all others outside of our group, I am Geran, not Camden, understand?

As the group moves, Kaio can't help but be exasperated by the groups inability to travel at his pace. All the same, they are making good time. Rixon has been tracking the man expertly, his keen eye noticing every helpful detail. Kaio begins searching for signs as they go as well.
