I thought it might be like a first part of finding where someone went. They left a piece of torn cloth, then a foot step farther on,
etc. To pick up their trail. If you say there isn't one then thats fine.

Keep this piece of cloth none the less. If it was snagged without their knowing, perhaps we can find out who's garment it was torn from.

This cloth could be from religious robes , or maybe a suit, judging by the stitching. William always feels confrontational when it comes to Christian authority figures. He struggles with his jar and pops another pill in his mouth. "What was our friend in the mission wearing?"
