Ronna lets out a small yelp when things turn aggressive. She looks around, looking for a place to hide, or possibly a way to sneak behind the enemies.

Exceptionally good initiative rolls. At end of turn i'll declare effects of that. Nyom and Jax should roll initiative rolls this turn. Jax still have to do his action.

Nyom, noticing Lucas' hand gestures, had started to work her way slowly towards the front of the group when Zinobia activated a cypher. "Change of plans", she mumbled to herself as she stopped in her tracks and readied her spear.

Jax is absent, and already alot of time passed since first post of this turn. I inclining to skip his initiative roll now, asuming Jax standing orders is to support the party. I hope Schauer returns soon, but for this turn we will advance now.

Guardians noticed the small changes of the situation, and suddenly their raised hands started to transform. Their hands stretched and transformed into long, constantly moving, live barbed whips. Their faces were emotionless and the sudden form of their enormous whip hands was threatening. They curled like snakes and they started to form wave-like movement.

It is time to react.
Party members were quick to.
Mandoric, having his mind trained for sudden changes on cirqumstances, got the momentum and while being very close to the guardians he actually could flank them or have nice position to attack them while they are preparing their enourmous hand whip weapons.

This turn is Initiative turn. It is extra party turn which represents initiative reaction to the circumstances. This turn is only for : Zinobia, Mandoric and Ronna.
Ronna have bonus -1 difficulty for her action as minor effect.
Mandoric have major effect and 2! actions - this means yes even 2 attacks
Zinobia and have 1 action.
Jax and Nyom and Lucas skip this turn.

Zinobia, consumed by battle zeal and perhaps, by desire to recover new numenera for the party, with battle scream rushed into attack, trying to catch the momentum while the guardians "transformed" their hands. Soon he was met by whirling and moving hand whip which touched him and organic matter entered his nostrils, anveloping his face abit.

The cypher he thrown on the ground transformed innto small silvery snake and rushed towards middle guardian attempting to bite him.

Zinobia recieved half whip damage and stunned for one round. Zinobia state - stunned, 1 round duration.
Snake injects poison and deals phycis + poison damage to the guardian, surpassing armor.

Mandoric and his seskii try to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, taking advantage of the opening made by Zinobia's botched attack and striking the same guardian as Zinobia missed.

Using the old one, two, three for +1 to attack. The +1 is added into Mandoric's roll together with +3 for light weapon, but for some reason dice roller omitted +1 from seskii's roll which should therefore be 9 total.

Mandoric attacks does not do any damage to the "whip hands" going through organic matter, and seemingly can not breach the armour the guardian wears.

Seskii misses his attack.

Mandoric still have one action left for him and seskii (Due major effect of Intiative nat20 roll)
Explanation: Target: Mastigophore. Armor 3 deflects 2+1 (from nat 17) = 3 damage. Default Guarding Mastigophore defence level is 5.

Mandoric is not used to being in the thick of battle, but the possibility of new cyphers and the flickering form given by his current one fill him with a kind of battle lust.

Second attack. If I understood correctly we get an extra +3 for one step advantage. Effort on damage as per Game's Discussion post

Ronna quickly kneels, draws the familiar half-circle into the ground and leaps through the air with Far Step. She jumps over the Mastigophores, looking for a place to hide behind them.

Mandoric's hit reached the central guardian, and the hit did the damage. The Zinobias snake also appeared on it's face, working it's things on the body of the Mastigophore.

Ronna leaped behind the guards.

Guardians finally grown enormous whip-hands and started to wave them around, aiming to hit the "invaders".

Guardian 1 (right) attacks Jax
Guardian 2 (center, damaged) attacks Mandoric
Guardian 3 (left) attacks vs Lucas

Lucas, Mandoric and Jax pls roll defence roll. (pls apply any skills/efforts/assets aplicable for your rolls). Default defence complexity is 4 (DC 12).

Mandoric realizes that it is futile for him to exhaust his little physical strength on these guardians, so instead he does all he can to avoid their blows, aided by the visual displacement cypher. As he dodges and appears to flicker from place to place, he tries to understand these guards. Were they activated just by proximity, would moving away from them deactivate them? Do they appear to be bound to a particular area, in which case could everyone simply move past them. Do they have some obvious weakness, or control area which could be interfered with to deactivate them?

As the guardian goes to attack Mandoric, his seskii makes another near-hopeless attempt to wound the construct.

Taking the Guarding action whilst considering these questions. I am trained in Numenera, but also have an inability for understanding/lore, so they cancel each other out.

Zinobia , being hit previously by hand-whip-tentacle of the guardian during his attack attempt gather his senses in that time. He wll need few moments to be able to fight properly again.

Zinobia stunned and skips turn.
Mandoric ---> We could implement "Loyal Seskii" mechanic. When the defence roll is failed but is close to sucess, i want to create option for you to deicide if Seskii (which is controlled by you ) could save the master (because of loyality bond and seskii nature) and recieve damage instead of master. It will redirect damage and effects on Seskii, instead of Mandoric, saving him. Of course seskii have limited health pool and it could happen if the final roll number within the limit of one difficulty from the sucess. For this battle default guardian attack is lvl 4 task, before all other asses/bonuses.

Ronna and Jax, Lucas turn needed.

Lucas dodges the attack as he works to draw the attackers away from entrance of the corridor. "Nyom, reach the top with your spear! Whatever it is they are protecting is there!"

Not a full action, but a decision based on what BlackStork said. Still looking forward to the results of that numenera roll!

Mandoric trusts too much to the Visual Displacement cypher and gets lost in thought examining the constructs. While he is examining their bodies for any control mechanism, he fails to see the whip lashing out for him. At the last second there is a blur of yellow and red scales, and a yelp of reptilian pain. The loyal seskii jumped in at the last second, and took the force of the blow on her armored hide.

Huh. I thought I already posted my action, but it's nowhere to be seen. Ah, well, here it is again.

Ronna kneels down and wraps open the piece of avatrol leather she is holding. She reveals the membrane hidden in it and carefully reaches to touch it. She lightly, gently brushes it with the tip of her fingers, trying to get her healing touch to work on it again, while whispering to it urgent, calming words.

Jax defends versus guardian attack. The hand-whip hits him before he managed to move out of its way and blurry organic material dispersed in the air around of Jax because of collision.

Jax recieved 3 Might damage and is stunned for one round

The fight goes on. Mandoric almost got hit by guardian tentacle, but the loyal Seskii saved the master , absorbing all the damage.
He delivered his hit, and the guardian body flesh got ripped, releasing pouring organic matter from the wound.

Seskii recieved 3 damage, and is stunned for one round. It can not perform any action and to protect the master for one turn. Seskii have 3 HP left.

Ronna suceed to heal the membrane, now it is not damaged. The scars and the dead zones dissapeared from it. It leaves the hand of Ronna and starts to rise up, like the rest of membranes around.

Lucas skillfuly evaded incoming tentacle strike. The hit was easy predictable, and it is clear for him how the tentacle will go during next strike. Just back, taking bit more diagonal trajectory, upwards. He was concentrated on predicting whip's trajectory, and perhaps because that or because other reasons hit attempt to draw the attackers did not made any noticeable effect.
Lucas have minor effect of -2 difficulty for next defence action (one time benefit)

Nyom misses her strike.
Zinobia is back to his senses.

The serpent from Zinobia cypher does it's work on the middle guardian. He have visible scars and holes in his neck.

All should make turns. Jax and Seskii of Mandoric are stunned, so they skipping this turn (Jax should defence at +2 difficulty)
