The formidable keep that stands as the capital of Feyshear and the home of the regnal family. Made of polished and magically reinforced obsidian, it gleams with an ethereal black-blue glow in the light of the sun and disappears entirely in the dark of night. Located at the far north of the city, it stands atop a mountain, giving it a dominating view of the sea to the north and about 100 miles out from the foot of the keep to the south.

A wall standing over 300 feet tall, and nearly a half mile thick. It runs from cliff to cliff, cutting off Feyshear from the rest of the world. Patrolled by the Daemon's Brigade, it serves as the only break between the desert reaches and the civilized land beyond.

In Feyshear, the three most widely-spoken languages are Common, Sylvan, and Dwarven. Nearly everyone in the city understands some basic business terms in Dwarven, and many take the time to learn the language because of the heavy Dwarven population in the guilds.

Because of the presence of the Feywild gate, and the traffiic of fey visitors, many people do speak Sylvan as well to stay in their good graces.

The lists below show the commonality of languages in Feyshear.

Language | Typical Speakers | Script
Very Common:
Common | Humans, halflings, half-elves, half-orcs | Common
Dwarvish | Dwarves | Dwarvish
Sylvan | Fey creatures (dryads, brownies, leprechauns) | Elvish

Ignan | Fire-based creatures | Draconic
Orc | Orcs | Dwarvish
Primordial | Elementals | Dwarvish
Terran | Xorns and other earth-based creatures | Dwarvish

Rare:

One of the focal points of the city, Greenfall Woods is part of how the city gets its name. This massive forested park contains a gate to the Feywild. Early on in the park's life, before proper security could be set, tales and myth tell stories that nefarious fey creatures would come through the gate and lure young children into the depths of the Feywild for no other reason than the fun of torturing mortals.

To this day, the communities bordering the park close and shutter their windows as the sun goes down and children are raised to fear the fey bogeymen. A strict curfew is enforced.

For the most part, the following races mingle with one another without major issue and are found in large numbers everywhere in the city:
Human, Elf, Dwarf, Gnome, Halfling, Half-elf, and Half-orc.

The one exception to this, are the Drow. There are fair number (perhaps 200,000 - 300,000) in Feyshear. They tend to treat with their elven cousins a little frostily, but are not feared or reviled. In fact, most people aren't sure where or how they came to be (the lore was lost with time).

Tieflings and Dragonborn tend to be viewed with a measure of uncertainty by the more populous races. Nothing to a point where the races are shunned or feared, just a wariness. They are common in terms of population size, though Dragonborn tend to form their own communes in some of the more far-flung districts.

Goliaths, as well as the Genasi, are rarer in number, and are usually marveled at rather than feared. Most Goliaths hail from the mountains upon which Nightspire Keep stands.

The Genasi have no communes to speak of and just exist within their area as members of society, though they frequently rise to a point of local celebrity in their districts.

The more monstrous-type races (Aarakocra, Firbolg, Kenku, Lizardfolk, Goblins, etc) are relatively rare. There may only be a few thousand of them total in Feyshear. Aarakocra and Firbolg are usually accepted pretty easily when encountered by most. However, the Kenku, Lizardfolk, and Goblins are usually looked down on heavily. The Lizardfolk especially are treated poorly and subjected to harsh racism by most of the races.

A network of tunnels and caves stretching underneath the northeastern corner of the city. When the Great Mage War ended, numerous races emerged from the deepest bowels of Belmoor. Chief among these were the Drow. The ebon-skinned elves found their previous homes uninhabitable when the magic was ripped from the land. One large colony established itself in the caverns under the Skyview Mountains in the far north of the world. As they established their new life, on the surface, Feyshear was growing. For almost 500 years, the two communities grew without awareness of the other. During a routine mining expedition, a group of intrepid miners broke through a wall of the Drow Queendom. Initially hostile, the Drow queen quickly realized that the surface armies would eradicate her relatively small community if pressured. She tentatively swore allegiance to the then queen, under the promise that they would be left alone to carry on as they chose. So it was that the Dark Market was formed.

Visitors rarely come to the Dark Market, those that do are the traders that bring in surface supplies and deal in the etheral spidersilk clothing produced by the Drow.

The primary government of Feyshear is a human hereditary monarchy. It's currently headed by Queen Jessalynne Ebonstone.

In general, they follow a lightly modified version of the English Peerage:

Monarch (King or Queen)
Grand Duke/Duchess
Duke/Duchess
Marquess/Marchioness
Count/Countess
Baron/Baroness
Knight/Dame

Nearly all of the titles are hereditary, with one possible exception. Knights/Dames may terminate with the one that was awarded the title if the title was granted without lands.

Currently, the numbers of the Peerage (excluding the monarch) are:
3 Grand Dukes and 1 Grand Duchess
16 Dukes and 28 Duchesses
98 Marquesses and 78 Marchionesses
104 Counts and 248 Countesses
1048 Barons and 712 Baronesses
~45,000 Knights and Dames mixed
In terms of relationships and activity, the Monarch holds nearly limitless power. They can pass any law by royal fiat if they choose. However, most commonly, they will wait to be presented with a Writ of Public Interest from the Rohindrum.
The Rohindrum is the normal legislative body that argues and debates laws for the good of all Feyshear. It consists of three chambers.
The Rohindrum Primium consists of a subset of the Peerage, voted into the position by an assembled vote of the full Peerage (minus the Guild System members).
The Rohindrum Mercantus consists of the heads of the Guild System.
The Rohindrum Plebium consists of elected citizens from each district.

These three groups are responsible for calling upon the Monarch to create new and sensible laws and edicts to rule the land. The chambers will debate on legislative requests within their own, with the three most senior members of each body being asked to form the Rohindrum Council. The group of nine members produce all final Writs of Public Interest and present them at court to the Monarch for official consideration.
Alongside and within the peerage is the Guild System. Nearly every major industry has a Guild related to it. While many of the members of the upper echelons of a given Guild may belong to the Peerage, they are forbidden from being voted to the Rohindrum Primium and are required to sit in the Rohindrum Mercantus. This was put in place hundreds of years ago to prevent the trading of favors for placement in the Rohindrum.
Example guilds: Jewelers, Cartographers, Miners, etc (anything from the Guild Artisan list, really).

Within each guild, many other companies may exist. Some of these adopt the moniker of "Guild" as well, though not always. One famous example of this in Feyshear is The Sparksteel Guild.
The final body are the elected men and women from all the myriad districts across the city. Similar in some areas to the head of a Home Owner's Association, more like an Alderman in other areas. The power they wield is different in each district, but they do end up comprising the Rohindrum Plebium. Eligible citizens are not allowed to hold a position of authority in any Guild or Peerage title.

Here's a very general and not overly detailed map of Feyshear.

The white lines are Adamantine Rail paths, with towers as their stations.

Marked on the map are the Bazaar locations (massive marketplaces), The University (the single higher level education place in the entire city), Greenfall Woods, and Nightspire Keep. The Southern Wall is the big orange border at the bottom of the map.

Each square is ~12 miles of territory.

Within the city of Feyshear, markets are as commonplace as general living quarters. However, spread across the city are four massive bazaars. These massive open air markets are formed by a series of interconnected squares filled with a maze formed by stalls, some lay their product on the floor or hang it from beams, others have tables filled with a variety of products; cloth, lamps, copper pots, hookahs, tea sets, candles, soap, tapestries, silver, crockery, brass and steel pots, mountains of spices, nuts, fruit, vegetables or dried meat. The stalls are covered by big white triangles of linen, covering the square in soft shadows. All around the squares are hallways with high ceilings, also filled with stalls, having a slightly more expensive feel. The more you move towards the most inner circles of the square, the more obscure the products become; plants and spices with hallucinatory qualities, weapons, forbidden goods.

The four bazaars are:
Northern - The Shadow of the Spire Bazaar
Central - The Grand Bazaar
Western - The Wavebreak Bazaar
Eastern - The Hartoom Bazaar

Obokorth University is located near the rolling hills in the western part of Feyshear. The center of the campus is dominated by a massive Greek-style building, complete with twisty pillars and statues depicting some of the foremost magical scholars since the end of the Desolation as well as a few of the influential figures from before the Great Mage War. Within Obokorth Hall are large lecture halls, sweeping marble staircases to the various upper offices, and paintings of former headmasters along the hallways.
Near to the Obokorth Hall is one of the newest buildings, the library. It's a strange construction of red bricks and white window and door frames. Within the library is a central desk that serves as a catalog of book locations. Beyond are row, after row, after row of bookcases filled floor to ceiling. There are multiple floors of books, each row with their own enchanted ladders enabling searchers to find what they seek. The space between the door and the central desk is a large atrium, sweeping four floors high, ending in a giant skylight that allows sunlight to pour into the main body of the space.

Down the center of the main floor, behind the circulation desk, is a long row of massive desks, complete with lamps and comfortable chairs for studying. At the very back is the staircase set for accessing the upper levels. Two large sets curve up and in, forming a large C-shaped alcove which features a fountain with a book topper. Hidden away from view, behind the fountain, is a heavy golden and wrought iron gate blocking off a twisting descending staircase. This leads to the basement, an area where all restricted or otherwise forbidden knowledge and works are stored. It takes special dispensation from the University to access this location.

Down the sides of the main floor, and scattered along the other floors, are private rooms where students can sequester themselves for peaceful study.
Across from Obokorth Hall, is another Greek-style building, although far smaller. The pillars have been removed, and instead feature magnificent statues. To the left of the entrance as you approach are the four Magelords from the final battle in the Great Mage War. Further to the left are other key figures from the Desolation. To the right of the entrance are the most important figures from the rise of Feyshear, including Elizeth Obokorth, the founder of the University. Within the halls of this building, Remembrance Hall, is the history department. Featuring smaller lecture halls and tutoring rooms, the biggest claim this hall boasts is a stunning collection of Pre-War and Pre-Desolation memorabilia. The proctors of the department will pay exorbitant sums of gold for verifiable artifacts from the era.
Other buildings surrounding the rounded square of campus are a few dining halls and entertainment buildings, with a theater and a bar.

In the middle of the square is a massive piece of art. The thirty foot tall statue depicts the final clash over Wyrmfall Deeps at the very moment the lake itself was created. Featuring the four Magelords atop their dragons, their spells clashing in a torrent of magical energy. Unlike most other sculptures, Obokorth commissioned sculptors and wizards both to permanently enchant the construction with living magic. Drawn from the leylines of the world itself, the clash of magic is actually a finely wrought spell and the flickering and dancing beams spiraling down into the water below are actual magic, and totally unpredictable how they will move each day.

Spread around outside this main ring are buildings housing the other departments, ranging from the more technical studies of engineering and mathematics, to the delicate arts of languages, music and fine arts.
