Hi, I'm Jabes. Thanks for having me here! :-)

I'm from Manila, Philippines (GMT+8). Besides the time zone difference I also keep odd work hours as I am a chef running my own cake business. We like making geeky cakes. Here's a D&D-themed one, and here's another.

I was introduced to D&D 30 years ago and to this day I still play with the same group of guys, my best friends. I've been on GP since early 2015. It's been fun trying out new game systems, including DW which I absolutely love!

Hiya, I'm Joanne but most people know me as Moof or Moofs. I've played DW extensively, mostly in a play-by-post format so if you have questions or need some tips on how to successfully play the game in this format ask away!

What makes this game different than, say, D&D is the conversation that takes place between the GM and the players. It's a fun give-and-take and makes for some awesome storytelling. Looking forward to it!

So, GM, how do you want to handle rolling for Max's magical attacks? Should I roll regular attack first, than make a second roll+INT? Or, just roll once plus INT if I'm doing a magic attack?

I'm not super clear on how the abilities are spelled out.

Describe what you’re trying to do in the narrative. You roll with INT and add techniques depending on the roll. If GM says a move isn’t needed he can always ignore a roll.

Indeed. The main thing with pbta is that the moves are prescriptive and descriptive. If there's no move for it and there's no reason it shouldn't succeed based in the fiction, it'll happen. If it's something we think there should be a rule for, we'll work out a custom move for it.

On the flip side, if you try to do something and there IS a move for it, I'll ask you to roll it and give you a chance to walk back from it afterwards if that's not what you want to do (this one's more relevant in other games than Dungeon World, like Apocalypse World where if you are threatening someone with an ultimatum the move for it MUST have you follow through on the action you threaten if they call your bluff). Don't worry too much about the pacing or interrupting; we'll work our way through what you're intending to do.

If you want to leap into the move you know you want to make, you're welcome to do so of course. Lots of people charging in at the moment. :D
