"I think Weiryn's plan is excellent. Consider my cart at your disposal and we shall move on by foot."
Jan 10, 2018 3:43 pm
Ujjaya nods. "It is a fine compromise."
Jan 10, 2018 9:45 pm
Darren nods his agreement with the plan, obviously relieved to not have to leave the bodies behind.
OOC:
I guess I didn't realize just how close the camp is!

OOC:
That might be a bit my fault , I may not have done a good jobe relating distances. Despite having a lot to do to complete this campaign, the valley itself is not THAT big. IIRC, you barely had to travel a mile in order to reach the ruins in the marches yesterday. In fact, Castle Ravenloft sits pretty much right next to the village of Barovia, if only sitting atop a 1000 feet high granite formation...

"Why don't we just wake them and send them on their way?"

kalajel says:
Ireena looks a bit torn at the dilemna currently facing the party...

"Well, I'll admit, you both make good points. Getting rid of one werewolf pack and getting the Sunsword to face that devil Strahd as soon as possible will save many lives. But Sir Urik is also right, the Vistani encampment must not be much more than 2000 feet or so away (roughly 600 or so meters). This would not be much of a detour..."
OOC:
Since irvanovich has some health problems, I'll go ahead a GMPC Weiryn for a while...
Weiryn then chimes in.

"I think there is another solution we're not seeing. Perhaps Sir Urik and I can borrow Roland's cart and deliver the Vistanis safely to their camp while you esplore the ruins. By what I've heard they are in a forest, and I doubt Roland's cart will be able to navigate the terrain easily anyways... If the pack is as weakened as Janis thinks they are, then you eight should be anough to handle anything that is left there..."
OOC:
I appreciate that. I hate it at the same time, but I definitely appreciate it.

OOC:
No problems. This should give you time to take care of yourself. Come back to us quickly man.

"We can try, Brother Veroth. But if this kerfuffle didn't wake 'em, I'd say they ain't lightly to wake soon." He lays the last vistani down on the kart and gently slaps the him on the cheek. " Must 'ave got a bad rap over the head. I'd say Weiryn's plan is good. They can catch up with us down the road if need be."
Jan 11, 2018 1:25 pm
And so the group departs for the forest ruins while Weirin and Sir Urik loads the Vistani, and the werewolves' loot (to be sorted and identified later when my computer is fixed) onto the cart.

"safe travels brothers."

Roland unloads his hackbut and prepares it for travel by foot. He also stops to load all his guns with silver ammunition.

Veroth shrugs at the Vistani's hereditary and legendary laziness, and ranges forward to lead them onward to the ruins.

The party makes it's way into the woods. the occasional distant howl of wolves remind them that danger is never too far away. Eventually, they reach the ruins Janis had been describing. An old short tower, still standing, but in obvious signs of disrepair, and the remains of two buildings, nothing more than plant infested crumbling foundation sat this point (ignore the interiors of the buildings). You have plenty of time to observe them from a distance to plan your angle of approach.

"I think I should set up a hide back here with the hackbut and provide overwatch. If you guys pull them out into the open for melee, I can pick them off in short order."
Jan 17, 2018 7:33 am
"Aye, brother Roland." Durgrim hefts his great hammer, feeling it's balance and making ready for combat. "Once ye'r set up I'll go knockin' down their door."
Jan 17, 2018 7:50 pm
"I'll be right beside you," Darren says to Durgrim, gripping his trusty warhammer.

OOC:
question for you kalajel. The hackbut requires its trolley cart or knocks the player prone when firing as well as a -4 penalty to the roll. If I used the weapon from the prone position already, would that negate this negative?
Jan 17, 2018 8:03 pm
"Durgrum... let me check it for nasty surprises before you try it."

Hmm, good question... If the weapon has that much recoil that it can knock you prone, what tells me it won't simply fly out of your hands or just smash into you and cause damage if firing it prone... I mean bracing the gun on the ground would certainly get rid of the -4 penalty, but then we'd had to work out what would the effect of its recoil would be on a prone wielder. I'm guessing a Fort save to avoid taking maybe 1d6 bludgeoning damage, but if you succeed, the weapon flies out of your hands instead?

I'll just hide the carriage too. It will be easier than trying to write custom stuff.

Heather pulls out her morning star. "I am with you Durgrim, Darren. Is it a full frontal assault or will we try to come at them from different sides?"
