Oh, very few people deign to teach it. You could say it's much more self-taught. I get these dreams at night, full of grand ideas. I follow no footsteps! I forge a new path. A brighter path! Or at least I would if I could get the paperwork to prove that I'm more than,
oh what did they call me, a degenerate crackpot!
Nov 15, 2017 5:39 pm
What are your end goals with this? Knowledge? Power? The betterment of all?
Nov 15, 2017 5:45 pm
Sorry for the lack of clarity. Shannout, the statement was to Vlur from the elf guy. The following is the last thing your conversation had:
Quote:
The three students look to themselves, smiling. Well, I've got a spellbook with me. I can show you the one that C'thalet invented. he said.

The other slapped his hand. No you don't, you liar! Those spells were all outlawed! he looks back to Shannout. He's a bit of a moron, I wouldn't trust his information at all. No, what you need to do is spend a few nights in a deep meditation. You'll see that I'm right.
Nov 16, 2017 3:10 am
Seeing their scheme, Shannout laughs loudly. Nice try buddy.
Maybe next time.
Shannout replaces the coin in his purse.
Nov 19, 2017 1:16 am
Vlur, the man looks at you. Knowledge, surely. Power, perhaps! Study for the sake of study is its own reward, after all!

The two men surge to their feet, only to trip over themselves when the cpin is pocketed. You promised you thug! The information is good!
Nov 19, 2017 2:55 pm
Well if this spellbook is real, I suppose your facts are true.
Nov 19, 2017 3:08 pm
The student that mentioned the spellbook struggles to get up to his feet, but does manage it. He scrambles with his satchel, and fishes out a heavy looking book with metal corners.

Just one minute, one minute - indeed. Here! he says after a few seconds of furiously flipping through the tome. He spins it around and shows you a page full of odd markings interspersed with bits of common. At a glance, you can tell that it has to do with forcing a target to do something. The bits of common you can understand easily, and it doesn't seem to describe a nice spell.
Nov 19, 2017 4:23 pm
Well if it brings you happiness then Olidammara let it happen.

Vlur says with a smile.

He looks back at the commotion that is happening with his friend Shannout.

If you would excuse me, I would like to see what my friend is up to. May you avoid predictability and routine, to delight in wine, to learn music, to seek out happiness, joy, entertainment, and the company of others!

Vlur nods his head and heads towards Shannout.
Nov 19, 2017 10:12 pm
Shannout sends a look over to Vlur. Maybe we should get this to the others? he whispers.

Mind if I take a look at it?Shannout tosses the coin to the student and reaches for the book presented to him.

As you go to grab the book, you find that it doesn't leave the student's hand.

Now now, you can't be taking my spellbook! What kind of fool do you take me for! he says. This is my life's work, not yours to take there quickdraw. he slams the book closed on your finger.
Nov 20, 2017 6:44 pm
Pulling his finger from the book, Shannout looks to Vlur, unsure of their next move.

Could we see you preform the spell somewhere private? My colleges and I are interested in his work.

He glares at them with a grin.

Rolls

Persuasion - (1d20+2)

(17) + 2 = 19

Nov 21, 2017 4:18 pm
The students look to each other, seeming to contemplate your offer briefly. The leader looks down at the closed book and shakes his head, grinning widely.

Not today, vagabond. You don't think I know when someone's going to stick a knife in me and liberate me of my books? How about you lot just get out of here before I let the barkeep over there know you're planning to hold up a patron. he says, a slight sneer creeping into his voice.

Rolls

Secret Roll

That is fine, let's go Shannout.

He turns to walk away and says in a goading manner.

That just means that they don't know how to do it. They are probably too weak to do so.
OOC:
Any roll needed for my goad?

As Vlur and Shannout begin to walk away, you hear the man blustering behind you.

Look! It's not like I want to run off into a dark alley to show you. My professor said we may be doing some controlled casting of spells tomorrow. You're welcome to come along with us, and you can see it being cast that way. Safe for me, safe for you.
Nov 28, 2017 5:23 pm
That sounds interesting, where is it so we can meet you there?

He turns waiting for their answer.
Nov 30, 2017 4:12 am
Come by Sturnk Hall. Ask for directions to Professor Maladrin's class. We meet at fourteen bells. he says with a smile.
Nov 30, 2017 5:30 pm
Got it, 14 bells, Professor Maladrin's class.

He looks to Shannout,

Ready to go?
Dec 2, 2017 11:18 pm
Shannout's knuckle slides away from his chin and slams onto the table he was sitting at. His eyes snap open, clearly almost asleep. He mumbles, "Err... yes... right..."

OOC:
Man, Spoony went from ready to leave to asleep in about a minute and a half!

What's the plan/direction you're all looking to head?
