Thorn nudges Kray and Ivor awake with the toe of his boot. Then, full of curiosity, he crosses over to the assortment of containers, the possible source of the odd tone, and inspects them carefully while the two are stirring and rising.
OOC:
Assuming they stir and rise, of course.

After the roll: I can only conclude that the gods are punishing me for my terrible puns. Jesus, I think that's two 1's in a row.

Palla Ba, the elder Seetan who works for the Sar walks in....

... accompanied by his son Lok.

Lok is carrying a brass oil lamp. Palla Ba, as normal, is carrying a collapsed umbrella.

Bryn and Sizhen just met these two Seetan men earlier tonight at the gala. Bryn heard that they spoke closely with Kray yesterday, meeting out in The Swamp at the Hechesi house. Bryn also knows that Trece is somehow affiliated with these men.

No weapons are seen on either man. Their steps are careful, watchful. Palla Ba speaks calmly but seriously.

"There is no Halonian lockbox to be found in this furnace, Bryn of the Danneinkiff," the old man speaks out, in fluent Yuoric "There is no Key to be found here. If you seek those here, you are making the same mistake as the last man who searched in vain for ancient treasure and long lost secrets...." he pauses and walks forward, hands calmly open and partially raised, as if to show that he is unarmed,"...within this regal domicile, which for all of its wonder is still so very young."

Lok walks forward slowly as well, following his father, looking carefully at Sizhen off to the side.

Palla Ba locks eyes on Bryn though, and continues. "You must be careful, noble Dannieou, to date and study the author of your sources before following their advice. Not all writers are honest, many of them are wrong in their assessments, and few of them are as clever as they claim to be in their own references."

Thorn sees that the vases and pitchers on the table are actually bolted down. They are connected to the buffet somehow. Upon closer inspection, he sees that they are connected to pipes that run down into the furniture and then cut out directly into cylindrical openings in the wall behind buffet. it is like the vases are linked to a series of metal piping. It appears to be brass.

Many of the vases seem to be harmonically tuned. When struck they vibrate and hum.

Thorn thinks he understands: some sort of signalling network?

The workmanship of the devices is extraordinary. Thorn missed it on the first time through inspecting the room, they looked so real and mundane.

The Bishtu laborers Baqi and Jattab soon have the two huge tea station trunks strapped to their backs with specialized carrier harnesses.

Ra u nak speaks to them in Zutaran and they nod in obedience.

To Kray, Ra u nak turns and says, "Come. We must go quickly. As quietly as possible. All of us must go."

He opens the door and is heading out.

Addressing Bryn in Heshbaan, Palla Ba speaks in a matter-of-fact tone, "The scroll from which you read, I deduce, was written by the master thief Ompulios of Phaor Zanked. He came to Gelshemish more than two centuries ago as a Dasnishi acolyte in training. He was executed later by Chultass, Sultan of Nexxur."

Sizhen is able to concentrate and follow along with the language well enough, though some if the older names are confusing.

Waiting briefly, the old Seetan continues, "The entire span of 40 years that it took to construct the garden palace were completed well after Ompulios' death. During the time of this extraordinary man's life, the Sar of Gelshemish dwelt in a different royal palace."

It does not take long for Bryn and Sizhen to make the deduction. The abandoned palace. In the shrine district. The one that is off limits and said to be haunted. And also still sits a short distance away from the Sealed Citadel. Long ago, THAT place was..."the palace of the king."

"It is there where the Halonian Box is built within the flue of the great furnace. Locked within, behind both clasp and hex, is the Key to the Small Irons, a pitiless devotion to a cruel and ravenous god."

He let's that information sit with Bryn, holding his eyes steady. Switching to Yuoric he speaks an ending comment...

He opens the door and is heading out.
With limited options, not to mention having extended trust to Ra u nak thus far, Kray accepts the tea man's invitation and goes along, his curiosity as to the strange old Seetan's knowledge and connection to local events and politics piquing his interest more than anything.

"Kray. What the fuck is going on, man?" Ivor asks, his voice low. He's still trying to shake the cobwebs off and his feet seem so heavy but he does his best to keep up with the others.

Palla Ba stops abruptly.

Standing there in the doorway....

...a huge hulking figure. Over seven feet tall.
His entire body and clothes are a single color. A drab earthy tan.
He has a strange look about him . . . a flatness of expression, a dull look...yet smooth and fluid in his movements.

"It cannot be..." Palla Ba says in almost a whisper.

The old man backs away, back towards the fireplace, eyes locked on the hulk.

The monstrous figure scans the room, seeming to take note of every one of the five men in the room.

Lok's lamp is shaking in his hand. Fear in his voice, the younger Seetan answers his elder, "He has more power than we imagined. He has awakened it..."

OOC:
First person Ox, Hyp, or Len roll 1d10.
OOC:
Ox, I'll try to look it up later, but if you get on, rig up the Modifier with Bryn, Sizhen, Trece and explain Group Initiative tradition. Initiative Mods are published in the Archive section (I think?). If you get it all organized and PCs beat the bad guy, first come first served on Action. I'll check back in to explain group combat more next, but prob not until morning. GOOD LUCK!

Still a bit groggy, but feeling clearer than before, Thorn, Ivor, and Kray find themselves following Ra u nak through the halls and stairwells of the Garden Palace.

The Seetan sent his two workers in one direction carrying the heavy trunks on their backs. The rest of the group went opposite. In a room bordered with curtains on all walls, Ra u nak led to a hidden spiral staircase and strode down the narrow stair. The team followed and continues on the move.

Down hallways, through rooms large and small, but always tending downward.

PCs control Top of Round 1 (TR1).

Trece, Sizhen, and Bryn can take Action. First come first served.

Sorry. I'm not sending a map. Hope your Theatre of the Mind is still selling tickets.

The Golem is charging in, looks like first target is Lok, so he is closing in fast.

Everyone is about 20 - 25' from the Golem, Sizhen off to the side, Bryn/Trece near the furnace, Palla Ba a bit closer to the Golem and Lok.

Sorry I didn’t respond sooner to the Treasure cock black section. To sum it up, Bryn doesn’t trust any of these people yet and does not like fucked around. But he is willing to work with them and hear them out. He especially wants to tap into the knowledge of Palla Ba.
"What the fuck is that?!" Bryn pulls out his daggers and looks for a quick escape route.
OOC:
Our group (Trece, Sizhen, Bryn) initiative is +7. J likes to rock old school initiative, so we take a group average and add it to a d10 roll.
