DMJ says:
As the group passes, when Kray is only a few steps away from the larger hall, a voice. Calling out from behind.

The man speaks in Heshbaan. It is difficult for Kray to follow the exact wording. He closes his eyes very briefly, focusing to think it through quickly, let his mind go in the language that he has been surrounded by, get it right. He had to answer. The black robed man had asked a question, along with the order he had made.

With a deep breath Kray turns and steps aside, facing back the opposite way he just came, letting the others continue past.

"I understand," Kray says in Heshbaan, "We have the other set up in the last room past the corner. This one we take back."

Kray stares at the man, who is standing in the threshold of one of the doors that was previously closed. The man is a chubby Heshbaan with an oiled beard and thick curly hair. The black robes are loose around his fat neck. He squints his eyes at Kray and watches.

Poet wins comparison. Deception unsuccessful.

Kray sees it in a split second. The fat man knows.

Kray is four steps away from the man, and the doorway in which he stands.
OOC:
I'm going to call it: circumstantial grant of Surprise.
Open for PC Action.
Round Zero
Without a moment's hesitation Kray closes with the fat man in the doorway, his obsidian knife poised to strike as he makes his intentions clear with deadly intent, his voice malevolent. "Breathe a word and die." Kray's tone shifted to one that was substantially eager and full of promise. "Painfully slow as you watch while I carve the flesh from your bones."

Intimidating this guy into keeping his mouth shut. He may even prove useful.

Sizhen
TR6

Sizhen glides in and throws the chain with perfect timing, one time and then again, two heavy loops rattle around the monster's neck just to the right of the chandelier wheel still locked on its back.

Acting quickly, Sizhen jerks the chain tight, eliminating the slack. The chain locks into place, constricting the Golem's neck beneath its wide carved hair rim, digging deeply into the chopped divot on the right side of it head and neck.

The Golem is too strong to be pulled backwards even an inch, but it does seem to acknowledge the constriction of the change. Still holding Trece in its right hand, the Golem tries to reach up with its obstructed left hand. It seeks to grip the chain, but it is wrapped too tightly for the Golem's big fingers to find hold.

The chain begins to bite into the neck, the links sinking ever so slightly into the clay.

Critical success on Pt of Chain Trap, weaponized option.
Unsuccessful on Damaging Hold.
OOC:
Len, STR check was to see if Sizhen could really heave ho that chain to actually send in some choke damage. Not enough this time, but it can be an option as Action again in future rounds likely.

OOC:
If I still have a bonus action, I'll disengage and back up 20 feet. In any event I will draw my two daggers and bring my AC to 15 before the end of the turn.

Bryn
TR6

When the chain loops and tighten's on the giant's neck, it steps out in a wide but low stance to shift and try to reach the chain. Bryn sees a real opening.

Raising his knife high over head, Bryn leaps forward and drives the knife down in a fast piercing stab. The blade dives deep into the Golem's right knee, which it has bent at a strong angle. As Bryn angles the knife in and chipping outward, a sizable glob of clay crumbles free from the lower limb joint. A curved block of the knee thuds to the stone floor.

Attack 1 with SA: Hit

The monster shifts awkwardly, pulling the knee back to reset its stance, but feeling the loss of material when it puts full weight onto the damaged let.

The Golem stumbles!

And when it does Bryn drives his other knife right into its low dipping neck, stabbing into the clay just above Sizhen's chain wrap. Another chunk of clay breaks free and splinters out into the air.

Attack 2 Hit

OOC:
Got the Disengage, but before you commit to drawing knives, want to mention here a straightforward translation of what Sizhen can see now with Insightful Fighting and the chain trap:

When Sizhen pulls full effort both hands on the chain, it puts such pressure at that weak point on the Golem structure that it counters the Golem's Damage Resistance on incoming Attacks. I won't spell it out to you exactly, but that is a really big deal. Especially at this moment.

You guys can see the Golem is struggling, but also know he's still very dangerous. These next few moments may count in big ways for better or worse.

Trece is yet to act in these splitting seconds, but I think it realistic for Sizhen, given his talents, might see that pulling with everything he can on the chain might just make the difference as he sees Trece winding up for a series of blows at the Golem's head. He might be able to lend enough tension at the weak point to maximize the effects of Trece's upcoming strikes.

Action choice up to you of course, just describing what can be seen, known, surmised.

Kray closes the distance and takes hold of the man. With the knife and threats, Kray has the man paralyzed in silence and fear.

Intimidation successful.

Now at the door to the room, Kray sees inside. On the bed lies an old man, painted with costume make-up and wearing a gaudy colorful robe. The old man is making quiet indecipherable mumbling and a younger thin man, an invisible servant, is leaning over him listening and speaking back to him.

The black robed young man jerks his head up to lock eyes with Kray. He also sees the knife. The look on his face conveys his surprise and confusion.

Feeling the first sign of weakness, Trece pulls nothing, unleashing a flurry of blows against the golem.

Slammed at work today, much like the Slam with Advantage of a Clay Golem when he has you Grappled.

Probably no entries until night if at all.

Real quick though:
Kray scares a fat poet into silence at the doorway of a side bed and sitting room.
Ivor comes up right there as well.
Then notice a invisible servant INSIDE of the room. Attending to a drugged party noble who seems out of it.
All of this is very sudden, we're operating in the split seconds of actual and possible surprise, BUT devil is in the details.

What actions do PCs take about the previously unseen servant inside the room? Time is of the essence; he might yell out for help.

Quick possibilities I can see:
Move and Melee Attack or Grapple (manual physical silencing)
Ranged Attack
Remote Intimidation to demand silence.
Maybe there are others.

Each has some risks.
Send details of what happens here.

Important Edit: Whatever Action taken, send INDIVIDUAL Initiative rolls along with details.
Apr 19, 2018 5:07 pm
As Kray presses his knife against the fat man's neck, emphasizing the reality of the threat, he shoots the other servant a menacing glare, speaking in a hushed voice. "Make a sound and you're next."

Initiative is just DEX mod right?

Going for another shot at Intimidation against the servant inside the room. I'm sure he'll also understand that Ivor et al are part of that threat.

EDIT d10+5 initiative.
Using Lucky.

Sizhen and Trece
TR6

When Sizhen pulls back on the chain with all of his might, leaning into the strain, the chain begins to dig into the clay around the Golem's neck, especially cutting into the right side divot that Bryn cut free earlier.

The Golem tries to correct the strain. It cannot reach the chain around its neck with its obstructed left hand and its right hand is committed to manhandling Trece. It seems indecisive as it shift and begins to wind up again to swing Trece into the ground.

And that is when the young Seetan makes his move.

He has already seen the chain cutting into the neck. He has already felt the crack in the structure. He just needs position and leverage now.

When Kray presses the knife to the fat poet's neck and demands silence from the servant across the room, the poet assists. The chubby speaker, wide-eyed and terrified, calls out to his comrade, speaking quietly but frantically.

Kray is so focused on the situation, he cannot even begin to understand the translation from Heshbaan. The servant in the room though freezes at first, his eyes as big as saucers.

Then Ivor walks in.

The young man puts his hands up and backs up against the wall. Speaking not a word. Fully compliant.

The poet, knife still at his neck, turns back to Kray, sweat beading on his brow instantly. In Youric, he says, "We are quiet. We will do what you say. Do not. Please. Please, do not kill me."

Intimidation successful.

OOC:
Ha! Nah I know, brah. Sorry. Delay was a mix of 1) purposeful suspense-building attempt, 2) needing to have more time where I could review the damage numbers on my spreadsheet, and 3) being freakin' exhausted last night and quitting.

Getting back to it now though...

Trece
TR6

Trece uses his legs to move to position, gripping with one foot under the Golem's shoulder and the other set on it's midsection to provide stability.

His first strike is a full force hooking strike, coming around wide from the left. With all of the weight shift that he can manage, Trece lands a devastating hit directly into the inner clay core that is exposed by the divot in the right edge of the Golem's neck and hair.

Trece feels the shockwave of force pulse through the structure. Again he hears a dull crack.

Gauging the fault line of the weakness, he sends a counter-angled swing in hard from the right, connecting at the front corner of the monster's jaw. When his fist connects, there is a surge of pain that Trece expects, but the effect is delivered: a visible crack line emerges on the surface of the Golem's neck, wrapping all the way from the right divot to the front and around as far as Trece can see to the Golem's left side.

Hit, Hit

The Golem shudders, and Trece can feel the right arm that is holding him weaken. With only a brief moment to shift his weight, Trece squares his shoulders at the Golem's wide face and unleashes an onslaught of powerful strikes. Blow after blow, heaving with the force of his shoulders and upper body pivoting with every strike, the young Seetan delivers pounding force directly into the heavy head of the monster.

Hit, Miss, Miss, Hit

Hit with a powerful left in the right cheek, the Golem's head twists hard right and breaks on the neck axis. The movement is small though because the head is so heavy.

But then Sizhen's chain crumbles through, sliding in and disappearing deep into the clay. The Golem's head, face frozen now, stays for a moment twisted awkwardly, still sitting on the broad based shoulders.

The body shifts though. As the hand and arms fail, Trece pulls himself free to deliver the next strike already in motion. His right hand connects broadside against the Golem's left temple. With the foundation broken now, the force of the blow drives the head directly backwards, dragging along at the bottom where it sits on the shoulder frame. It tilts off the back, falling off at an angle over the right shoulder. The chain pulls completely free and slides to the floor in a noisy rattle of clay-packed metal.

With a dull thud, the Golem's head hits the floor. Still standing, the body surges briefly and then stops. In the last movement, it was almost able to distribute the weight evenly and stabilize.

But not quite.

The body starts to tilt only briefly at first, but as the weight shifts it picks up speed. Like the falling of a great hardwood timber, the once mighty clay Golem falls to the ground in a loud crash.

OOC:
Point of interest: I think you got what you wanted, Len. Trece's damage delivers the killing blow (flurry of?) with the Golem's Damage Reduction neutralized, but would not have if the weaponized chain was not in effect. Would have shifted to MR6 with Golem Action in Frenzy of Destruction mode. I suspect it would have been a tough round to endure.

A game of inches.

Good ish.
