OOC:
Action in progress.
Motion underway.
Using "darkened area" blocker again for the suspense - will have to advance with the torch to get the breaking-news details.
Dec 25, 2018 7:27 pm
Kray gave Thorn a nod and moved forward from the pool of enemy corpses, heading toward the darkened end of the room where he knew enemies lay in wait, engaged with Elam as well.

Kray will advance about half his movement, just enough to pick up some targets and light the north end of the room. Saving half movement and action.

And Akeen nailed that stealth roll. Practically turned invisible there.

Elam
R6 (cont'd)

Slashing at Balis, Elam maps points, people, routes, and distance.

Balis. Uburatu. The corner. Iasu. Namtur.

He sees the path, and he has the wind.

Skinny Elam is not faster than Balis!

Balis is elated as he finally catches his prey. The beastman blocks the incoming sword swipe and then swings his long handled axe with reckless abandon.

He chops low to cut off Elam's legs.

Namtur
R6

Namtur briefly holds eye contact with Thorn and Kray. The tall devil-man's rippled muscle, hooking horns, and blood-red skin are fully visible now. His eyes are a bright orange or yellow that cast a disturbing shine in the light of the torch.

He holds the war club Reave loosely but in both hands. He looks next at the bull, further away, and nods once.

"A hall on the far side...," he says in Heshban, looking directly at Bryn whom he knows as translator and then to Mercon whom he knows as commander. "...I go there."

He is already on the move, walking backwards for a few words more, "We must trap Uburatu - pin him down," then turns and marches briskly out of the torchlight, towards the far end.

Dash

Namtur sees an abandoned shield leaning against the wall at the hall entrance. He picks it up.

The hybrids were almost burned. All of them. Uburatu had seen it.

Perhaps it was best to withdraw now. Rally with Naram and reattack on advantageous ground.

He steps out to block the way to his left, Elam's right. Elam is forced to change direction. That will cost you, fool.

He cannot see the strike, but he hears Balis's roar. Elam's cry. He is on the ground!

"Move, Balis! Attack! Press!" Uburatu bellows.

Finally.

Double time, Uburatu is on the fast march. Shield forward.

Movement

Coming up to pass Abros-- the foolish boy still wrestling, holding the boxer down.

"Enough of this!" Uburatu blares out, infuriated. He raises the Khopesh high in the air, aiming to split the Seetan's skull open.

Abros
R6 (partial)

Abros barely maintains The Mystery Master in the hold.

He hears Uburatu's enraged command. In his periphery vision, Abros sees him coming in fast, sword raised to strike.

Abros has only a split second to make the adjustment. It is going to put him off-balance, but he has no choice.

The hulking devil shifts with everything he has, his muscles straining to make the pull and pivot. He can barely force the Seetan give the ground quickly enough.

It works though. Abros spins and drags his compatriot duelist around, away from Uburatu's reach. Abros boxes Uburatu out completely, using his own body to cut off any other angles.

Movement/Position Change, with Grappled opponent

Denied his killstrike, Uburatu stomps by, belting out another furious insult.

Abros cannot hear it. He is trying to keep hold of the Seetan and avoid his deadly pin knife!

Round 6 In Progress
[ +- ] Round 6 Battle Map In Flow
OOC:
Took a shot at mapping it out what input is posted in so far. We can adjust if it is off.
Generally this includes Thorn's post of making full Movement across room and Kray's strategy of using half Movement to shed the light on the subject, and staging out the rest of Movement to follow with possible Action.
I took liberty to have Maeriks and Bryn do something similar to Kray, but again we can adjust as necessary.

If this is good enough though, Kray/Maeriks/Bryn can Move about another Square-and-a-Half during R6 (unless Bull has more Movement Rate, not sure).
Actions In: Thorn, Namtur
Partial Actions In: Balis, Elam, Akkeen

OOC:

Totally cool with moving up with Kray.
Bull speed is 40 ft. I think that would just shy of 2-and-a-half squares. It looks like that is just barely enough to get up next to Balis.
The bull scuffs the stone under his hooves as he advances just behind Kray, muscles trembling as it anticipates danger from every shifting shadow. Then the light shows the blue man clear enough as he cries out.

Friend!

The bull rushes forward, rearing up to strike with its hooves just as it gets behind the monstrous creature.

Attacking Balis with advantage (Balis' reckless attack)
Sweet!
Looks like both attacks hit, 40 damage total. (29 bludgeoning, 11 piercing)

Elam is not stumbling at all now; he is dodging perfectly as he picks up speed again approaching the corner.
OOC:
CB, I know this is coming in BEFORE your Attack. Yes, by the numbers out of the Initiative sequence. BUT it makes sense in this circumstance because these guys were already at this end of the hall together while you guys are still crossing and getting your bearings. Also, if I had done it by the established sequence, Balis would have turned Attacks onto Bull Maeriks - which to me would have been a good thing for him and a bad thing for you. Just didn't seem right. DM Fiat overriding this one only at this moment for sake of realism and understanding the blend of Action in the round.

Elam lures Balis in with a fake stumble, making the beast-man commit to his attacks and letting Uburatu pick up speed behind him. Elam can sense that the hulking captain is on a full charge, body shield forward. Timing would have to be perfect.

Acrobatics Check

It is perfect.

Elam steps with the wind, springing high and hitting the wall at the exact angle necessary . Two steps up and push.

Elam sails into the air, reversing direction by repelling from the wall. He flips backwards, flying up and over as Uburatu charges in and underneath.

The agile swordsman sticks the landing perfectly and makes the attempt for the shield, slicing upward at Uburatu's left arm from behind him.

Uburatu's instincts protect him; he adjusts quickly to Elam's feat of dexterity. Elam cannot make the strike to take the great shield down. He is forced to withdraw before Uburatu turns and strikes back, but now Uburatu and Balis are both positioned in the corner.

The bull’s hooves clop loudly on the stone floor. Balis turns only the slightest degree, just enough to see the bull coming, but there is nothing the beast-man can do to escape. He barely tilts the shield in to take the hit of the horns, but his arm is slammed back into his torso and the bull's head hits him in the stomach. Balis is thrown back against the wall and tumbles down off balance.

While Balis is low, the bull stomps furiously with its front hooves and then spins in turning its rear hooves in on the trample as well. Balis roars out in surprise, pain, and frustration as he is hit and knocked around on the floor and up against the wall.

Only by the beast-man's animalistic toughness and agility is he still standing. His round wooden shield is knocked from his hands in the onslaught.

Hit and Hit
OOC:
Is there a Savage Attack dice roll that needs to be tossed in somewhere on that?
Still adjusting from the feint and wall flip from Elam, Uburatu stands shocked as the bull mauls his bully enforcer before his very eyes.

Akkeen
R6

Akkeen sees the bull that is the Dannein druid knock Balis around like a toy. The brute is still standing though , still holding his axe - still dangerous. Akkeen knew that in his rage Balis feels no pain.

Akkeen had wanted to use the Hinnomic Serpents on Uburatu, but Balis is on the ropes and an easy target. Young but veteran to skirmishes, Akkeen knows to take a target of opportunity when it presents itself.

He casts the coiled ball of iron and says the ancient word of power to release the edimmu contained in the runes.

In mid-air, the ball of iron bands explodes in a burst of writhing serpents!

They wrap around the legs and torso of Balis. Some crawl on his arm.

The bestial brute roars out in rage as he is wrapped up. The living snakes are constricting around him. He falls to the ground in a thud. The iron serpents continue to crawl and coil. Tightening.

Balis begins Restrained and Prone Conditions

"It worked!" Akkeen roars out triumphantly. "FUCK you, Balis!", he shouts, as if a counter to the beast-man’s furious growling and tooth-gnashing.

Kray
R6 (note)

As the light casts out across the far end of the room, Kray sees a scene of melee and action.

With quick observation, he assesses for details.

Observant Feat: smaller detail notices
*Pretty sure Elam just finished a wall-launch backflip to escape Uburatu.
*A short bow and a few arrows scattered on the floor (marked with the "D" on the map).
*Torch holding sconces on the far wall, to both sides of the threshold of the north hallway.
*Akkeen just threw a ball that exploded into snakes at Balis - and now they are wrapping him up!
*Both Balis and Uburatu don't look completely human in their facial structure. Balis is especially animalistic. They both are wearing really solid armor cuirasses.
*Uburatu's full-body shield looks like a BIG problem for landing hits. He manages it like a pro.
*Akkeen is now shirtless (lost his robe to a SM). His back has rough, dark-colored, leathery scaled skin running along his spine.
*There is a big weighlifter devil guy wrestling versus...Trece?!

Holding there for tonight (Friday) to see if you guys can post up.

Tomorrow (Saturday) and/or next day (Sunday), I'm going to move on with NPCs and possibly an Iasu DM-control post in this order:
1) Iasu
2) Uburatu
3) Abros

If you don't post before those, PC Actions will be considered after them.

Always on the lookout for any advantage in battle, Kray spots a shortbow and some arrows on the floor nearby. Moving with a quickness, he wastes no time, dropping the torch near the short bow and picking up the weapon. With quick aim, he unleashes two shots in rapid succession at Balis, hoping to bring the beast man down.

Advantage for Balis rage/flanking.

R6

Balis glances over at the torch light as he struggles to figure out what to do to overcome his capture. Seeing Kray pulling back the bow and firing, Balis instinctively stretches out flat, barely avoiding getting his skull pierced by the first arrow.

When Kray fires again, Balis throws up an arm as he sees he cannot move for cover. The arrow slams into his armored forearm, punching through metal, leather, and flesh.

Both Attacks Hit

Though the arrow protrudes from his arm, Balis roars and breaks the back end of it off as he desperately tries to free himself from the constricting bands that are binding his legs.
OOC:
I failed to mention above initially, but Balis is Prone along with being Restrained. Corrected now above, and Conditions continue.

OOC:
Note: I made a big mistake on Action/Movement management, wasted a lot of time, and was forced to retcon with a series of deleted posts.
I mistakenly thought that Uburatu had Movement remaining in R6. In reality he had already used it to charge at Elam.
That made what I thought would happen next absolutely impossible, so I had no choice but to make the big adjustment.
Sorry about that.
I don't think it will have any negative impact on PCs. In fact has positive impact, because Iasu would have been injured otherwise.
Could have negative impacts for Elam, because Uburatu will get his Attacks at his arch-nemesis now.
