The bull butts the alpha hound and knocks it back, putting some space between it and its pack mates. In the banter between the animals, a hoof clips the shoulder of the hound. Though outsized by several hundred pounds, the fearless dog squares off against the big bull, growling and barking in full ferocity.

A lot of blood. The patient is losing consciousness. Still though, he is breathing. Despite the terrible mess of the many injuries, there is one life-threat: a major bleed under the left arm. Luckily it is on an extremity.
Iasu pulls a tourniquet from one of the quick-access outer pouches of his medicine bag. He quickly loops the long wool cravat under the shoulder and around.
Wrap the excess length.
Slide the latch ring to the proper spacing.
End rod through the pivot ring and twist.
Twist and twist until the bright red bleeding stops.
With one hand, Iasu slides the end rod through the latch ring. Locked tight, the tourniquet is set.
Life-threat eliminated.
With the other hand, he is already flipping the other flap of his bag open. He digs a patch of the mural pepper mash from the small stone canister, getting a smear of the paste on his finger. He dips the chalky paste into the patient’s mouth to activate the stimulate and then smears the whole glob under the patient's nose.
Thorn burst back to full consciousness with a jolt, his body seizing, a huge suck of air as he gasps for breath.
His heart racing.
His head spinning.
But Thorn is revived!
Even as he works with complete focus, Iasu hears every word that Uburatu speaks.
