Bryn is doing pretty good on HP, not that I want to sacrifice all of them, but I could take a bit of beating

Ezeriah says:
Sounds good J. And I get you on the OOC planning, too. It's just a natural reflex and what I'd do if we were at a table.
Bro, definitely no foul there and no intentions fro me to quell table talk and strategy. That’s classic part of the game and also you are a skilled veteran at it. No need to stop the strategery. To be clear OOC is still open. Plus Kray and others will still be able to attempt to communicate, command, and coordinate, so work plans into action as you will.

We’re just going to insert some additional mechanics to try to capture some of the wildness of this scene.

It’s going to be something like Greyhawk Initiative from UA. With some retro and some new twists. I’ve been using it in my live games last year. Crazy.

Excited about Greyhawk initiative!
Bull Maeriks, while still technically a fully thinking Maeriks, is also going to respond with a hefty dose of cattle instinct. Withdrawing as a group is high on that instinct list of TODOs.

Ezeriah says:
Good luck, X. Damn this scene is intense!
OOC:
Hell yes it is. Jesus.

Here is where we make a stand fellas. Hold the north entrance. Maybe Iasu can pull Thorn off the line and stabilize him. Holding that north seems less chaotic with pack hound bombs running us down like Thorn.

I'll be damned if we're run down by hounds with that gel bouncing around playing defense. The more think about it, the more I say screw that chaos. Let's form up at the north and hold. Elam should pull some of the threat off us, at least for awhile.

It's ugly fellas. But with solid tactics and fair rng I think we can hold that line. Kray and Trece have good AC to hold the front with Bryn and Maeriks on the flanks. I'm hoping Iasu can get Thorn to safety and then provide ranged support, which he excels at.

OOC:
I feel that holding the line would be cost another life or two. These hounds have pack advantage. If we want to walk out of this hall with more than one dead body (sorry X, too soon?) then I think we need to resort to the GD (Gelatinous Defense) plan. We all know that J is a tactical genius, but also a big softy and would never throw us into any situation that he hasn't meticulously figured out an exacting sequence of combat with a single possible survivable outcome. I believe the GD is that outcome that J has planed from the moment Valates fired his first volley of flaming arrows.

J/K, but the non-partisan gel has proven to be an asset to whatever side utilizes it most effectively. Taking a risk to run around the gel (IIRC it attacked with pseudopods at one point, we may chance a reaction) is likely far less dangerous than a pack of hounds working with advantage against our battle line. We may need to form a line inorder to provide enough support to free up anyone who gets lock-jawed and ganged up on.

With the new initiative, we will want to think about how that will impact our escape. The gel doesn't have to explicitly attack, so it's just rolling a move. If we are partially evacuated, the gel may move to block the escape of the rest of the group, spelling true disaster. I think we'll want to move close enough so that the front line people can move past the choke point with just a move+disengage.

Another idea is to grapple a hound and force move them into the gel. I'm not sure how strong they are, but I think we have some leverage there. They may grapple us in turn tho, and lock us in place next to the gel. It's a poor option, but it has some potential. (I mostly like the idea of blowing up a dog inside the gel.)

Invocation of Dark Thrones Alternate Initiative for Endgame Round 1 (EG R1)
OOC:
DT Alternate Initiative System is posted, in House Rules in all of its terrible complexity and controversy.
OOC:
I know it is going to be tough, slow, maybe frustrating. We're still using it for EG R1.
After that, we might shift over to a simpler version of it modified for more speed.
OOC:
So right now, we are in Step 1: Announcement Phase.
The other steps we'll work out along the way.

So that means...
Required Action, All Characters except Thorn: Post intended Action Announcements for EG R1

Note: Thorn's Death Save will be the last Action for the round, sort of outside of the rest of the sequence.
OOC:
A complicated system, but let's just get some Announcements up on the board. We can address questions/concerns related to those specific Actions rather than abstracts and theoreticals.
Jan 15, 2019 2:22 pm
OOC:
Step 1: Announcement Phase.

1. Movement: Move to Thorn.
2. Bonus Action: Disengage.
3. Interact with Environment: Drag Thorn away, full movement, past Namtur.
4. Free: Shout command to Namtur to fall back.
5. Action: Use Healer's Kit via Healer feat: Thorn Stabilizes and regains 1HP.
6. Reaction: Set to Uncanny Dodge at first hit taken.

Kray heard the infernal hounds burst through the north entrance. A quick glance and he saw Thorn go down, draped in the beasts.

Fates be fucking damned.

Priorities had changed and he had to adjust. Victory slipped from his grasp, he spat the words out to Akeen. "If he moves, kill him."

A seething fury welled up from within, driving Kray forward with a grim and relentless will to mete out death to all who opposed him. His chest rattled, bellowing as he called out. "TO THORN! HOLD THE LINE!!"

ANNOUNCEMENT PHASE
1. Bonus action: Rage.
2. Move to the spot right behind where Thorn is, engaging X and Z to help cover Iasu while he pulls Thorn out of the shit.
3. Once in spot, attack Z then X with Judgement.
4. Once Thorn is pulled out, Kray will engage all 3 hounds, attempting to draw their attacks, goading them. However, he would not position himself to be surrounded or flanked, rather he would draw them in to our front.

5. Reaction: None set (unnecessary for Parry maneuver, unless you're going to require it J?).

Kray's built for D fellas. Hoping the 3 little shits will find Kray tasty looking! Let's hope this goes well.

Going to make Notes to self on NPC / Monster Action intentions sets. Will expose outside of Note once all entries are in, so that they don't influence PC choice unintentionally.
Required Action: Trece and Bull Maeriks post Announcements.
OOC:
Hoping to do get everyone to do Base Initiative rolls tomorrow, and then start laying out the Comprehensive Sequence List after that when possible.

Ezeriah says:

5. Reaction: None set (unnecessary for Parry maneuver, unless you're going to require it J?).

OOC:
Ez. Ya, bro. You hate it but Reactions have to be set in advance.

Each person is anticipating something above all things - getting after people with max aggression (OAs), defending (Parry, Uncanny Dodge), waiting for something specific to happen first (Ready with Trigger). Might miss another Opportunity, but chaos, blown plans, and missed chances are part of the battle and part of the point of this suspension of normal rules. We're off the regular road map.

Are you getting screwed? Maybe. But so is everyone else including opponents.

You can always drop pre-set Reaction setting (if it isn't used by a trigger yet) at your Initial Sequence and replace it with Reaction: Adjust to Battlefield, take the time penalty, and shift remaining Actions.
Jan 16, 2019 2:21 am
I'm good J. And totally down. I'll set that reaction reserved for a maneuver Parry (I'll assume I dont *have* to parry though). Kray is going to show these fucking hounds what the fuck is up.

Or die. Thorn is down. For Kray, that's a battle brother. Going to fucking hold the line, hard core.

Victory or Death...

Glory, Bitches and Gents.
