Sergius sees the dagger impaled in Ennautum's chest.

Furious, Sergius launches after the assassin.

As he runs northward, he yells out in a heavy voice, calling for other guards.

I respect the desire to abstract this. I understand this new abstraction does not have 'bonus actions' and 'actions' and such, so I get it if the following doesn't factor into your alternate abstraction. I also get your need to spread the action around to all characters. With that said, here are a few things you may wish to take into account in your new abstraction about Inquisitor Sizhen:

His 40 ft. speed combined with the mobile feat and cunning action means he could cover 120 ft. through difficult terrain in a single round. Sizhen has really doubled down on speed. I've referenced them below (I know you know them, but they are there for completeness sake).
.
[ +- ] Mobile Feat
[ +- ] Cunning Action
Based on this, if we were using the regular abstractions I could still move more than twice as fast as our target through difficult terrain and have a bonus action left over. Depending on the situation, I'd use that bonus action to:

1. Do extra perception checks as per the Eye for Detail feature if I'm losing him.
2. Do an extra dash if I'm falling behind.
3. Continuously trigger my insightful fighting feature (Opposed wisdom (+9) / deception check) until successful, and redo if it timed out (1 minute).
[ +- ] Insightful Fighting
[ +- ] Eye for Detail
TL;DR: Sizhen is good at chasing people. I'm happy however your abstraction works out.

Yashub decides enough ruckus have been made and just quietly sprints up to the nearest point of the fence. He climbs up and takes a look from high to see where the assassin is going, trying to predict a route and to make his own intercepting plan.
OOC:
That's a final 15 on Athletics, with the superiority die.
I assumed an Int roll to think up the intercepting route.

Dug-nuna the Stabber takes off like a gazelle down the hill, heading for the north fence and a chance to escape the entire scene, but his pursuer darts at him like a cheetah who has spotted a straggler in the herd.

Sizhen sails down the hill with the speed of a competitive athlete at a festival game. The assassin does make it to the low wall, but not before his pursuer is upon him. When Dug-nuna jumps up to reach the top of the fence to pull over, Sizhen has closed the gap.
OOC:
Len, I can get behind the appeal above. Stats and capabilities pay dividends here. Cutting this short and changing the structure of the chase. Send in Action to steer what happens next.
Optional Action: Sizhen can take Action. Distance 5' when The Stabber leaps to the wall-like fence.

Yashub cuts the angle and bypasses the crowd at the top of the hill, crossing the small path at the high ground and descending directly towards the fence with priority of keeping sight on Dug-nuna and picking an interception route after he makes it to the fields beyond.

Before Dug-nuna can make it over though, the Alijanian catches up to him there at the fence. Yashub continues his angle in not far behind.

Yashub sees the Korvaran guard charging down the hill further back. He shouts out for other guards.

This back low section forms a sort of perimeter pathway for carts and horses. It is relatively empty since most of the sights to see are back on the south side of the ridge within the track and arena area. Now though, off to the right, two Holy Gilded Armsmen on horseback turn and start riding the fence line towards the commotion after hearing the call of the Korvaran soldier. Similarly, off in the distance, down along the opposite end of the path, near the main entrance and stabling area, a Korvaran legionnaire on horseback also turns and starts riding in, following the fence wall line and approaching from the opposite direction.

Yashub knows he can make it to the site of confrontation within seconds, and to the closest point on the fence line even faster. As he moves he watches intently to see what the Alijanian does and whether or not Dug-nuna can make it over the wall.
OOC:
GV, I see the strategy and will let it apply best one way or another after we see the results of Sizhen's Action.

At the ghetto...

Everyone is talking with one another, and that in multiple languages. A flurry of comments and questions the obvious result of the shocking event.

Thorn and the Seetans are the first to see, and they alert the others. The flesh and even the blood of the wretched head monster is starting to turn to sludge. It looks as if it is "melting", breaking down. Soon a vapor is rising up from it. Cautiously, everyone backs away, either around walkway that rims the side of the house, or back through the rooms within.

Keeping a safe distance, those who wish to observe see that the dissolving continues. The transformed flesh is reduced to a pool of sludge and even that turns to vapor more and more with every passing seconds. The tentacles, the fins, the fang teeth, the skull itself - the are indiscernible now, and soon to be reduced to fumes.

The talking continues. Thorn, Kray, and Gibon speak with Lok and Trece. Oram is speaking with the Hechesi leader and Palla Ba a few steps away.

The exchange is interrupted when one of the Hechesi neighborhood boys calls out a strong signal of warning. Everyone looks towards the front of the house. Warnings start buzzing back and forth among all of the Hechesi. Oram starts walking towards the front of the house.

Gibon translates. "Mil Keldat," he says first. Kray and Thorn have already learned those words, but he continues. "The Gilded Armsmen, they are here."

The athletic fur-clad tribal-looking Hechesi who are armed with spears hop off of the back deck and move out, following a small walk path that hugs the side of the river bank, passing through a low growth of cattails and high grass the blends into the water of the river.
Mar 10, 2018 10:32 pm
Oram steps down the stairs at the front of the Hechesi House, going to meet his superior officer.

Riding on horseback, with three other Armsmen riders behind him, Ensha Yasi calls out in a commanding voice. He speaks Heshbaan, but intermediate level speakers can understand well enough that he is demanding everyone to back away and not approach the King's guards nor their horses.

Most of the Hechesis have already departed, slinking away between other houses or walking out into the muddy streets. Some cast scornful looks. Others avert their eyes and seem fearful.

Yasi glares at Oram's horse tied out in front, and at Balanser's horse and chariot with Kosha standing nearby.

He turns to Oram who approaches him.

Thorn, Kray, and Trece can all interpret it well enough. "Ron Oram, report!"
Mar 10, 2018 11:32 pm
The moment is brief as Kray considers his options. The look to Thorn is clear:

We are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

X, I think Oram has seen this coming, whether on this door step or an internal affairs type Gilded Armsmen deal later. In other words, I think he's covering everyone's escape. He seems like that kind of guy.

I don't like leaving him solo, but the last thing we need is to get the outlaw taint this early, if ever. And splitting up is a bad idea here.

Thoughts? I'm inclined to jet with the Hechesi out the back and follow them. Not to mention we can learn more about this damn sorcerer that likely needs to have his head removed from his shoulders.

And his heart plucked out of his chest.

Then we can all have drinks around the bonfire of his corpse. Fueled, of course, by dead hell hounds.

Best not to get on the wrong side of the authorities.

Sizhen sizes up his target and attacks with his Jian, with intention to incapacitate.
OOC:
Not on those rolls :)

Palla Ba moves up to Kray and speaks, quickly and with precision, "Lord Mercon, if we are separated, we should meet again. Can you and your retainers treat with us about taking action? If so, come to the Moon Mountains on Reut, and be in observance. Take the Immortal Tear Mix. The Honorable Balanser can guide you on this meaning."

With that, the tall Seetan elder walks out of the front of the house, opening his umbrella overhead and following Ron Oram.

Thorn notices what is strange about Palla Ba's eyes. Even though the old Seetan's eyes are dark, they are exceptionally so because his pupils are fully dialated at all times, even out during the bright sun of the day.

Trece give a silent nod to Kray and Thorn then follows after Palla Ba.

Distracted by the women and wine, Ivor is slow to react to the assassin. Or assassins - there seem to be several guys running around with weapons, unless those are Sergius' men, though they don't look like it. "You weren't kidding when you said today'd be an exciting day at the race track, Cedrio. It looks like someone offed your boss."

At the track...

Sizhen reaches the fence wall quickly, but is not able to connect as he swipes at the Stabber. The shaggy man pulls up over the fence, but the surprise on his face is apparent. He topples over to the other side, scrambling frantically to get up and run towards the fields.

Sizhen makes little delay, sheathing his swords in one swift movement to get his hands free to make the leap up and over the fence.

Yashub heads straight for the wall, up and over it further east. As he crests the top of the fence, he sees off to the side that the horsemen are riding around to the ends of the fence on both sides, to loop around and close in from both angles eventually. When Yashub lands on the other side he starts to angle in on pursuit.

Sizhen is up and over in short time and is soon on the running man's heels once again.

Soon the Stabber sees that he cannot make it to the large line of pear trees that serve as a far border to the field. There in the chest high grains of the field, he turns to fight.

Order of Attack will be:
1) Sizhen (aka Carl Lewis)
2) Dug-nuna
3) Yashub (arriving moments after)
OOC:
But feel free to send it in, in any order if there is an opening. Can order the results after.
Mar 13, 2018 12:21 am
Dug-nuna brandishes a large pugio in his right hand, and a small single-edged antler-handled knife in the other. Gritting his teeth in desperation, he slashes at Sizhen with both blades.
OOC:
This is in sequence after Sizhen's Action. Will adjust or eliminate if it does not apply, just wanted to get it posted now in interest of time.
Action: Attack v. Sizhen, Dagger
Bonus Action: Off-hand Attack v. Sizhen, Knife

(1) + 3 = 4

Attack Sizhen, knife - (1d20+5)

(17) + 5 = 22

At the ghetto...

Kray and Thorn direct Gibon, and the three men move out the back, leaving the house behind. They follow a foot path for a time that leads along the river bank. It goes right through a marshy area with tall grass, cat tails and lily pads growing out from nearby pools. They can see the larger mass of the city across the river, with some small boats going here and there across. On the side of the river where they walk, they continue to pass shanty huts and hovels that are the impoverished home of the Hechesi. They see several Hechesi watching them as they travel, saying nothing. Only staring at them.

Further down on the trail, the fur-clad armed Hechesi tribals still march ahead. The rear guard continues to look back from time to time, glaring at Thorn who leads the way.
Mar 13, 2018 12:43 am
Gibon marches along down the trail.

"Those Forest People are warriors. They do not stay in the city all times," he says. "They have camps secret in Jara Hili. Beware, masters, they may feel anger for us to follow."

"The greatest one, the chief," Gibon says, pointing ahead to the Hechesi that were at the house, "...he is Atraharsis, one son of Shamash-Nasir. A great leader who is dead now. Execute. This one wages war I think, as his father. He likes Ron Oram, but he hates for him also. It is a strong strife for these." He finishes clinch two hands together opposed to one another, as with Gibon, he often speaks with his hands.

Mar 13, 2018 2:09 pm
Thorn eyes the Hichesi as they stare angrily back him from time to time, and processes Gibon's lesson.

"Would it be wise for you to tell them we mean them no harm and wish not to anger them?"

Gibon begins to respond, but Thorn cuts him off.

"Are these Hichesi of the Hilelli persuasion? And how can you tell?"
