Sizhen puts one sword away and uses his free hand to search the restrained Stabber for any clues or anything out of the ordinary.
Sizhen ends up lifting some sort of leather wrap woven length that has a metal icon on the end. He quickly pockets it to investigate later.

Len, I think this can work, but I need to check to understand what you are aiming to do.

See here that Sergius is already brandishing his gladius (short sword).

He does also have a pugio (dagger) in his belt. That one is definitely in play. Sizhen can grab it.

And with your Sleight of Hand vs. his Passive Perception, you can do it without being seen (I will rule that way in this case).

But I'm not sure if you are trying to not be seen, or if you are trying to let him see you do it, and hoping to steal his attention away and make him divert from stepping forward for hands-on with the captive.

Let me know your intent, and we'll work it out.

Ah, I misread that he is already holding his gladius. I will delete the action post and repost Sizhen's action. We You can then delete these later too in order to streamline the thread if you like. Thanks for checking.

Action: Sizhen will ready an attack action if the armoured man should attempt to harm his shadow (GV's character). Sizhen will not stand in the way of the armoured man killing the Stabber, however. The Stabber's usefulness has expired and his life is not worth making enemies; there is enough information here to plot his next course of action. If all that comes from this event is direct contact with his shadow, Sizhen considers it a win.

After slight hesitation and a little reassurance from Gibon, Trece reaches into his robes, removes his weapon, and holds it out to Thorn in an open palm—allowing him to take it. Getting a clearer look, it is just a spoon, rubbed down to a point, with the spoony bit wrapped with cord to provided traction and a more comfortable hold. As Thorn takes the weapon, one might notice the hand resting to his side slowly curls to a fist and his eyes track Thorn's every movement. He speaks, slightly confused at the translations

Sergius strides forward, passing Sizhen, and stabs the captive assassin.

Sergius's blade gets caught in the Stabber's robe at the first thrust, but the big legionnaire pulls it free and jabs the sword forward again as he leans in close. The bronze blade breaks deep into the thin man's torso.

Dug-nuna's eyes widen in pain and shock as he is stabbed in the side. Yashub, still talking to the assassin, sees the blade slide in almost to the hilt, watches the man's face - in an instant, Yashub knows that the wound is fatal.

When Sergius withdraws the blade roughly, Dug-nuna falls forward with all of his weight, his arms clinging to Yashub as the shock of the mortal blow surges through him.

Dug-nuna, his life pouring out of him now, looks at Yashub with the desperation of a dying man, clinging to any last touch of humanity in the final moments, even if it is with an enemy.

Yashub watches as his face shifts from terror to resolve. Fighting with every last strength to steady himself and breathe, Dug-nuna labors to whisper out last words.

But he is stabbed in the lung, blood filling his chest cavity, and he cannot finish before his last breath is gone.

Cedrio and Ivor climb over the fence, dropping down on the north side in the field in time to see that Sergius has stabbed the assassin. Now the man is dead or dying in his captor's hand.

Two Holy Gilded Armsmen are arriving at the assembly out in the field, riding in from the right. From the left, an armored Korvaran is riding up as well. By the look of his armor, Ivor suspects he is a Decanus (squad leader) or even a Centurion (company leader).

Sergius cleans his blade on a waist cloth and then sheathes it. He glares at the Alijanian for a moment before walking up to stand at attention as his superior approaches. A command from the horseman officer releases Sergius back to motion. The two Korvarans begin a conversation between one another.

The Armsmen begin to talk to the other Heshbaan who lays the dead assassin down in the grass.

Yashab recognizes one of the Holy Gilded Armsmen who rides up. It is Ron Nahid, who has a wife and child and lives in a small home near Maritime Plaza.

Sizhen, standing nearby, can generally interpret that the Armsman is asking for a report of what happened. The soldier has a tone that suggests he knows the other Heshbaan tracker.

The Korvaran officer translates from Yuoric to Heshbaan for the Gilded Armsmen, and then turns his horse to face towards, Cedrio and Ivor.

The two Armsmen, one dismounted and one still on horseback, respond and glare back at Cedrio and Ivor. The Armsman on the ground puts his hand on his sword hilt at his belts. The horseman grips a spear. Neither of them draw, but they are coiled tight and ready for action, both of them scanning back and forth for any hint or suggestion that might break the confusion that has settled into this strange and suddenly tense gathering.

At the Mountains of the Moon...
(and maybe after)
OOC:
For Trece, Thorn, Kray, the Tea Time scene is still available if you want to send anything in for narrative or discussion.

After that wraps up, suggest that we start shifting to next scenes and maybe, as Ez suggested earlier, look for opportunities to push through some items in abbreviated narrative or OOC.

On the possibilities:
1) Investigating the woodworking cabinetmaking shop of Manshesh, who apparently sent the trailer on Thorn/Kray last night
2) Prep for activities on last day before Shuvael (which at this time, the last day is tomorrow). Public events going on tomorrow include a mid-morning chariot race at the track and afternoon gladiator games event at the Circle of the Valiants. Depending on what happens in the alternate scene, other PCs and NPCs may be involved.
3) Planning for Bryn's gift to the Sar
4) Staging up for the social gala at the Garden Palace, in the evening on the last night before Shuvael. The event itself, I think, may be an Active event that we play through. We'll see.

The conversation with Ra u nak clarifies that Palla Ba's reference to "on Ruet" means that the meeting called by Palla Ba will be held during the afternoon of the first day of Shuvael. "Reut" is a time for sorrowful penitence and self-reflection, and is observed after the sacrifices during the morning ritual on the first day of observance. So at this point, that means on the afternoon, day after tomorrow.

OOC:
Ox, we've talked about this a bit in advance. For Bryn to make good headway interacting with the Dasnishi in their own environment, it will be a bit of an infiltration - effort to present self as a devout seeker of knowledge and ancient religious truth, with a reverence for Goldna ad Dasnish grounded in the religion as presented by the Dasnishiat.

With that in mind, send checks below. I am going to let them influence the way of the write up that will follow.
Required Action: Bryn make skill checks for CHA Deception and INT History.
