Ug is surprisingly quiet and nimble as he moves into the second chamber. Not having heard any of the commotion next door, these orcs rest at ease and are oblivious to the giant of a man pressed up against a rocky outcropping nearby. From his new vantage point Ug is closest to the cook. Whatever meal the orc is preparing smells like the way pain feels.
Dec 28, 2017 7:57 pm
"Shall we repeat the strategy and lure them here, or..." Zenithral trails off as he sees Ug's hulking form disappear down the tunnel. Not believing Ug has any chance of remaining unseen, Zenithral sighs and knocks another arrow. "Well, let's get on with it then..."
Dec 29, 2017 12:10 am
Relaying the information he recived back to the party in hushed tones. Maverick suggests that Alalla, and Ug go in first and fast to supprise and aggravate the orks while the rest use thier ranged attacks as thr gnome really didnt feel like getting a spear through him despite the faith he had in the magic armour he had conjured around himself

As Ug gets closer to the "cook" and the "food" he almost gets nauseated by the horrid stench. It looked like steaming molded ogre droppings mixed with chunks of rancid bits of meat and fur in goblin bath water. The sight and stench was an insult to 'guild of mighty barbarians of the culinary arts' that ug was a proud member of, and he watched in horror as an orc bogey dropped from the cooks nose into the pot. That was too much for the massive master cook. Ug burst from his hiding place in true Goliath form and with Tulfgyrs blessing he flung the cauldron of chef nightmares around the room.

Zenithral runs enters the room as Ug flings the cauldron of scalding grime and he skids to a stop. He surveys the room and sets his sights on the orcs playing at the table. He draws his bow, blue energy swirling down his arm and into his arrow causing it to glow. Now's my time to shine, he thinks, smiling to himself. He releases and the arrow slams into one of the orcs and it explodes in a blast of blue energy, hitting all of the orcs at the table.
OOC:
Zenithral runs in preferably behind Alalla or Tulfgyr and uses Bursting Arrow, one of his Arcane Shot options. Not sure why it split that attack roll, but since the d20 was a 15 and the bless d4 was 2, that's a 23 to hit.

The mighty Ug manages to fling some of the offending stew about the room, but realizes that there is only so much stew to cover so much space. Making a more tactical decision, he dumps the remaining contents over the orc cook's head and then slams the upended pot down over the orc's face (dealing 5 acid damage to the orc and lending advantage to the heroes' attacks against it).

The explosion of Zenithral's shot rings throughout the cavern. The gambling orcs suffer the brunt of the shockwave, one of them groping at a massive wound in its chest, the other two reeling as they are pummeled with arcane energy (13 damage to the one, 5 force damage to each of the two others.).

The orc sleeping by the far wall wakes and stands up, glaring with a single eye - the other appears to have been gouged out - and shouts of alarm are heard from deeper into the cave.
OOC:

Being the last to enter the room Maverick in order to cast his invocation Magic Amour. He enters the room just as Ug begins to melt one of the orks with some sort of foul... Potion they were making? The one-eyed orc jerks violently as magical lightning courses through his body (taking 10 lightning damage). Then he reaches for his neck and pulls out a long chain necklace ending in a withered husk of...an eyeball. Father Tulfgyr recognizes the item as a holy symbol of Gruumsh, the god of orcs.

The one-eyed orc priest roars in challenge and begins a guttural chant, pointing a thick finger at Alalla, who starts to feel a mental intrusion attempt to take control of her body - the divine power of the One-Eyed God compelling her to freeze in place and offer no resistance...
OOC:
Alalla can describe how she throws off the effects of this spell. Also, for the next day or so she gets an extra d8 on each of her hits against followers of Gruumsh
The cook is unable to locate his weapon, but given the circumstances and the screams he hears outside the cauldron helmet he decides to use whatever weapons he can. Wielding a long metal ladle in two hands, he swings desperately at the giant barbarian he knows is close by, landing a solid hit, but doing little damage (4 bludgeoning damage to Ug).

The two remaining gamblers are in bad shape, but are no strangers to battle. They take up their weapons and throw themselves into the fray. One crashes his axe into Alalla's side, a heavy blow that dents her armor. The other brings his weapon down onto Father Tulfgyr's helmeted head. (Al takes 14 slashing, Tulfgyr takes 11 slashing)
OOC:
Tulfgyr loses concentration on Bless!
Over the din of combat, the shots of more enemies approaching reaches the companions' ears.

Seeing Alalla and Tulfgyr each take heavy blows from the injured orc gamblers, he focuses and backs them up with a quick volley of shots so they can take care of the Eye of Gruumish. In trying to avoid hitting his allies, he misses the first orc and only grazes the second, the arrow splintering into the table behind them.

Still stewing that the stew wasn't strewn as stewpendously as he had hoped, Ug is irritated even more by a wooden ladle bouncing off of his chest. Ug enters a rage an unleashes himself on the cauldron armored excuse of a cook.

Seeing his friends take some serious blows, Ugs rage turns into a frenzy, lending him an extra attack next turn.

As the Eye of Gruumsh points at Al, she feels a presence come into her mind through her battle rage and adrenaline, drowning out thought and commanding her to OBEY. But Al is no stranger to this force, and to denying it her agency. She roars and throws off the influence, and anger rises in her throat. She roars and charges at the Eye of Gruumsh, decapitating him with her glaive. (Eye of Gruumsh takes 12 damage)

As Zenithral set his foot down and fired two arrows in rapid succession, he slipped on the stwependously horrible stew strewn about, his first arrow somehow hitting one of the orc gamblers (Gambler 1 takes 3 damage). The orc priest shudders under the blows of the companions and collapses dead to the cave floor.

The orc cook finally pulls the cauldron from his head and sees the enormous goliath before him. Realizing he is very overmatched, the orc flings the pot at Ug's head and uses the distraction to run past him towards the cave's entrance. (Takes the Disengage action and runs past Zen and Mav, fleeing the room)

The last gambler is fully caught up in the heat of the battle and ignores his wounds. Finding himself with no enemy immediately before him, he turns and makes a mad dash across the cavern, furiously swinging his axe at Zenithral. Still a bit shaken after his fall in the stew, Zenithral's desperate dodge does little to help him, and he feels the axe blade cut through his leather armor and slice deeply along his back. (Gambler deals 14 slashing damage to Zen)

The shouts from the next chamber climax as more monsters enter the battle: another one-eyed orc, flanked by two more orc warriors and followed by hulking figure carrying a club as large and heavy as a grown man - an ogre.

The two new orc warriors bellow challenges and charge towards Al and Tulfgyr. The first skids right into the stewpid mess on the floor and crashes in a tangled heap (prone and granting advantage). The second leaps over his fallen ally and slams into Tulfgyr, connecting but doing little damage (Tulfgyr takes 4 slashing)

The ogre steps into the torchlight, looking for the biggest enemy to pummel - and sees Ug. Taking up the massive club (practically a tree) the 9 foot tall monster brings it down in an overhead chop that misses widely.

The newcomer Eye of Gruumsh laughs wickedly and raises a gauntleted hand. The air above Maverick warps and twists, then tears with a crack. An enormous spear appears there, floating tip down and pulsing with an evil crimson glare. The orc priest clenches his fist, and the conjured weapon thrusts downwards towards the svirfneblin - who somehow manages to duck away from the evil conjuration, though it continues to hover menacingly. Grunting in dissatisfaction, the Eye of Gruumsh readies his own physical weapon and charges at Alalla, piercing her thigh with a black iron spear (dealing 9 piercing damage to Al).
