Dutch readies his club, glancing over at the pit where he got startled. For now, he is standing at the generator, but he slowly, cautiously makes his way back.

Marv stands over the pit, watching the water start to move as the pump goes to work. Glancing back at Dutch, he smiles, "I'm sure it's going to take a long while to get all that water out. Why don't we take a look around and see if we can figure out where everyone went?"
Without waiting for an answer, but expecting the company, Marv begins to look around, particularly poking around in the tent, to see if he can find any clues that tell him where everyone went or why everyone's gone.

Dutch doesn't listen to Marv's polite request; instead standing transfixed before the muddy water hole, waiting to see what horror might be revealed, swimming beneath the murk.

Marv starts peering in the collapsed tent, what he can see by just holding the tent up, it looks like the place was either ransacked, or someone left in a hurry.

Marv looks over at Barry as it looks like the other man saw something of interest. "What is it?" he asks. He also looks around.

Howard moves over to Big Dutch and stares at the draining water with him. He gives a detailed oration of what they are likely to find in the hole. He explains the procedures and pains-taking measures archaeologists take in the field to preserve even the most unimpressive artifacts.

Dutch gives a savage growl for Dr. Mellon, but his gaping eyes belie the fear he tries to conceal.

Marv had knocked over some stuff while looking, revealing the box to Barry.
The box looks hand carved and has strange figures and runes on it. It opens without any troubles though. Inside is a couple of books and a few letter addressed and stamped, but never mailed out.
Dutch peers as the water level keeps lowering, but the pumps have made the water muddy and thick. It looks like the water is a third of the way drained, and no movement yet.

Marv lets the tent down and stands in the center of the camp, looking around, trying to take in the details of the area.
"It seems like a nice enough area to camp in. I wonder what went wrong?"

"It's like something put the moz on them. Accidents, things going wrong, the crew were getting pretty stressed out," Barry says. "You blokes over there better be careful with that machinery!" he adds, swivelling around to call to Magnus and Howard, before investigating the books.

Barry's warning pull's Howard's attention in his direction and he notices the box with the runes and figures on it. "Interesting! I wonder if this is a typical artifact from the Roanoke society." Howard examines the box to learn what the runes and figures might mean.

They look like carvings from someone just learning to whittle, at least to Howard.

Marv smiles at Dutch and walks over. "See what? Let's see what's down there." He peers down the hole, watching for something to move. Inside, he's a little nervous, based on what he saw before, but he's trying to play it off.

The hole looks to be almost to the bottom, you see some pottery sticking out from the walls and some large stone tablets. Most of the pump is visible out of the water now. No sign of any movement.
