In what way? You rolled it correctly, d100 trying to roll under your score.

Yeah, in the way to roll it is what I meant. Thanks!

Marv looks at the other two as they act strangely. "What's the matter with you guys?" He stands up and begins to wipe the slime and grime from his arms and face. "That was pretty disgusting." He shivers as he remembers the snake-like things writhing against his body. Turning, he peers back into the hole. "What are those things?"
May 10, 2018 3:26 pm
The things' eruption from the pool sets Barry's concept of reality churning as violently as the mud. Years of studying history and the occult, searching for the integral but forgotten secrets at the margins of mankind's experience, strive to rationalise the sight before him – and fail. "Wh-wh-wh..." he stammers, trembling and wide-eyed with terrified confusion.

Howard quickly searches around for leather gloves, or something thick enough so that Howard can pull the tentacles off of Marv without getting bit.
May 15, 2018 1:44 am
Dutch scrabbles to his feet, his face a rictus of absolute terror. He turns tail and leaps into the underbrush, bolting in the general direction of the car.
May 16, 2018 1:00 am
The tentacles fall off of Marv and retract back into the murky mud, blood dripping from their ends. Marv has small mouth bite marks on his back and arms. Dutch runs into Barry knocking him over and breaking his frozen state as he dashes off.

OOC:
I think there was a mix up. The tentacle was on Marv, right?
Marv sees the tentacle splat to the ground and throws his arm up up against it, taking a step back. He teeters for a second on the edge of the hole before falling to his knee to avoid tumbling back down.

"What is that thing?!" he cries in horror. "That's what's down there?!"
OOC:
Now that Marv's seen this thing, I'm rolling Sanity. Ignore if it's not called for. (But I'm guessing it's called for!)

Rolls

Sanity d100 v. 40 - (1d100)

(27) = 27

OOC:
Yes, I guess loss of sanity on my part. Edited
Marv reels in horror, but somehow keeps himself together.
May 19, 2018 3:03 am
After his initial reaction, Marv manages to calm himself a little and takes a step forward, picking up a stick, and tries to dig out one of the tentacle things.

"I've never seen anything like that before. What about you, Doc?" he asks, turning his head to look at the other man.

Yeah, so I guess I am just MIA for the time being? I've never been in this situation before and I assume I'll be just waiting until the the rest of the group finds me, that is, if they find me alive... ;)

Barry stands up and walks with purpose over to the edge of the hole. Wordlessly, he aims his shotgun at the pool, taking extreme care. When he is satisfied with his line, he gives the bastard both barrels.
OOC:
I want to Take Aim before firing the shotgun (I believe together this takes two combat rounds).
By my reading of the rules, there is an attack roll for each barrel, with bonus die for taking aim.
I'm not sure how deep the hole is but my impression is this would be short range (10 yards).
Edit: I gather an extreme success does maximum damage?

Lastly, if this gets everyone killed I am really sorry!

As the barrels roar, Marv falls backward, scrambling away from the sudden blast. "Woah, woah! What are you trying to do?! You think you're going to be able to shoot it through the mud?"

He stands once the shots are done, moving his jaw to try and pop the ringing out of his ears.

Howard seems to be catatonic from some mental break.
May 25, 2018 12:03 am
Barry fires into the water and mud, some black ichor rises to the surface, but no tentacles or bodies. The hole drains out and in the center is a circle of stones and mud and water of an old well, no telling how deep it is.

Dutch runs halfway back to the car and comes to his senses.
