"Right on, then. Not much for drinkin' then, are they? More for us then. Here, on me. Small town welcome to you university students."

Ari signals Rick for a round to be brought.

Marv thinks for a few seconds before raising his glass with a smile at Ari. This cat is all right, he thinks as he takes another drink. Maybe I can work with him. For now.

After swallowing and setting his glass down, he asks Ari, "So, where are the rest of the people who were here before?"

"Far as I'm 'ware - an' I'm pretty keen on talkin' to folks 'round town - they all went back to wherever they came from after the... Well, I ain't one for superstition like Rick, so I'll just call 'em unhappy accidents. Figured you musta seen 'em if'n you're from the same place. Haven't really been up to the site myself on fact of them state troopers takin' on the case. If you're lookin' for answers, could be they got 'em. Me, I'm happy to not be messing with that business. Wife ain't too fond'v'it neither."

"The State Troopers got involved? Oh, well!" he laughs mirthlessly, "We're all saved, now!" He shakes his head and then continues, "Do they have an office around here? I would like to talk to them. If they took on the case, they certainly dropped the ball. We have one abandoned vehicle out by the site with no one near it anymore. I want to know what they found."

"Haha, good one, man. Why in the world would they put up an office for 'emselves out here in our little town. Naw, you'll honestly prolly have better luck goin' back to the University. Prolly an office somewhere in the city. Sorry 'bout that. Oh, they told me not to bother the dig and not to let anyone else neither, now that I think 'bout it. You got papers from the University, right? I figure if this's your job then no problems are gonna be comin' to bite me in the rear end later if I let you boys keep on havin' a looksee."

"Ah!" Marv says, leaning back in his chair with a sour look on his face. "Well, we were out there and did have a looksee." He pauses before continuing. "There's nothing out there! Or, no one. Just a mess becoming a ruin." He shakes his head and lifts his glass to have another swallow. "We're gonna have to get out there and take another look. Or find someone around here who can tell us more."

"Ah, you know, there was a smart fella by the name of Wilhelm. He was university too, like y'all. Went down by the dig and talked to 'em while they were still 'round. Could be he's still in town himself. Think he was stayin' at... the Hawthornes, maybe? If so they're a bit aways outta town but not too far. Hard to get around at night, though. And, 'course, there ain't no drunk drivin' be happenin' in my town, ya hear?"

With a mock harsh tone and a smile on his face, the declaration comes across with an even mixture of seriousness and levity.

"Hey, that's a great idea," Barry says. "We definitely didn't pass them on the way, and the camp's empty as a beer bottle – of people, anyway. It's like the whole bunch up and left. Someone's got to know what's going on, and I like the odds on this Wilhelm fella."

Marv nods, finishing off his drink and smiles at Ari. "Well, I'm ready to go find Wilhelm. And, it takes more than that," he points at the glass on the table in front of him, "to get me drunk."

"Well, we'll see 'bout that when you stand up," Ari jokes back with a smile.

"Anyways, if y'all're really deadset on swinging by at this hour, you'd best be bringin' 'em some sorta gift for-a trouble. An' I'll escort you boys, since could be the welcome you get goin' alone'll be more lead than smiles."

David walks into the bar, coat in hand, and glances at the patrons, almost certain he's seen one or more around the university. He walks up to the bar, coughing a bit into a handkerchief. Excuse me, could i have some whiskey to warm me up? I'm afraid I caught a chill from outside. Once he gets his drink he walks over toward the forming group of gentlemen. He clears his throat to speak, coming up beside the odd-looking policeman, sparing a look. Hello, gentlemen. Would any of you know where the new Roanoke colony dig-site is? The one in the papers as of late? He asks quickly and directly.

Marv blinks at the newcomer, then begins to chuckle. "Well, well. Did they send you to check up on us? We only just got here."

David raises an eyebrow. I don't know what you mean. I'm here of my own volition. He squints at Marv. I'm certain I know you from somewhere. Yes, yes, you're Coletti's boy aren't you? What are you doing here?

Ari nods along at this new development and smiles at the dignified gentleman. He was going to give these two young'uns the benefit of the doubt but this man's clearly someone from a University and seems to know these two. He nurses his mug and settles in his chair, a front row seat to these interesting happenings in his sleepy, little town.

Marv's eyes get a little wider in surprise. "So you're not here to babysit. That's a relief." He waves to a chair at the table, inviting the older man to sit.

"You've got me right. And, who might you be?"
