The double doors to this room have dusty panes of stained glass set into them. Designs in the glass resemble windmills. The dusty, cobweb-filled bedroom has burgundy drapes covering the windows. Furnishings include a four-poster bed with embroidered curtains and tattered gossamer veils, a matching pair of empty wardrobes, a vanity with a wood-framed mirror and jewelry box, and a padded chair. A rotting tiger-skin rug lies on the floor in front of the fireplace, which has a dust-covered portrait of the mother and father figures you saw in the portrait in the second floor hall hanging above it. A door facing the foot of the bed has a full-length mirror mounted on it. Cold air wafts from around a corner to your right, where the noise is now plain and clear.

Okay well never mind. Baroth steps out to talk to will. What did you find? I thought I heard something in there.

The attic hasn’t been walked through for years, it seems. I did notice an interesting room, with noises from the inside. It was locked from the outside, too. I think we should investigate that room, but I fear to do it alone. Will you all come with me?

OOC:
Sorry been a long day
I don't know what they're doing, making a bunch of noise by the sound of it. After Wil relays the information and Baroth does the same, Greymond takes a moment to ponder the information.Seems like you both have promising leads. Any care on which we investigate first?
Jan 11, 2018 5:47 am
I say we check out what's upstairs. Seems like someone was worried about something coming out if they locked the door from the outside.
Jan 11, 2018 3:10 pm
I agree with Will. I say we go and check out the upstairs first. Then we can work our way down and check out the rest of the house.
Jan 11, 2018 5:13 pm
I take the lead, walking up to the attic, with the group in tow. I walk up to the room locked from the outside and attempt to pick the lock with my thieves' tools.

(2) + 5 = 7

You climb the stairs and confront silence as you attempt to open the lock. Unfortunatly, the lock proves too secure to pick. The lock looks old and rusty and wouldn't take much to break.
Jan 11, 2018 6:31 pm
Baroth, I can't pick this thing; it's rusted shut. If you break it, I'll have my bow drawn. Deal? Wil pulls back an arrow with his bow and readies an action. If he sees someone lunge at us or attack us when the door swings open, then I'll shoot it with an arrow.
Jan 11, 2018 7:49 pm
Baroth nods in agreement. He then takes the bottom corner of his shield and slams in down on the lock, trying to break it off.

Athletics to break lock - (1d20+5)

Damage - (1d4+3)

(2) + 3 = 5

OOC:
Sorry, I should specify that breaking an object isn't a matter of strength but damage. Roll a d4+Str modifier. We'll let the Athletics roll be the attack roll.

Ryn stares at the abandoned room lost in thought while the others move to the locked door. With the first slam against the door, Ryn turns and quickly realizes that he's alone. He quickly moves upstairs to get closer to the others. As he leaves the first room, he casts mage hand on his way out, closing the door behind him. He runs up the stairs dagger in one hand, his arcane rod in his other... before come to a quick stop on the stairs in front of a locked door.
"Oh, sorry, I was lost in thought. What's going on?

OOC:
Sorry, didn't notice the edited post.
The old, brittle lock gives way under Baroth's shield. The door stands unlocked, the sounds that Wil heard absent from the air.
Jan 11, 2018 9:38 pm
Just having a look around. Heard noises coming from the other side of the door they say. Figure we'd check it out. As the door had been struck Greymond brought back his arm to lob a vial but slowly brought it forward and down as there was silence as the door fell through. The hairs on his arm standing on end in eerie silence.

This room contains a bricked-up window flanked by two dusty, wood-framed beds sized for children. Closer to the door is a toy chest with windmills painted on its sides and a dollhouse that’s a perfect replica of the dreary edifice in which you stand. These furnishings are draped in cobwebs. Lying in the middle of the floor are two small skeletons wearing tattered but familiar clothing. The smaller of the two cradles a stuffed doll that you also recognize.
Jan 12, 2018 1:02 am
Baroth steps into the room. What is going on here? Do those bodies look a lot like the kids we met outside to you? Baroth steps out of the room. He brushes some of the scales on his head. But if those kids where undead I would have sensed it.
Jan 12, 2018 1:53 am
"Were they spirits? I imagine if they were undead then they probably would have taken their skeletons with them." Casting mage hand, he picks up the familiar doll, "and I doubt there would be a duplicate doll. Do we think that these are evil children? Cursed? or is something else at play... The mage hand gently puts down the doll back into the skeletons arms and pulls the blankets off the bed, covering the two children's skeletons. "It's a shame their bodies are laying out in the open, we must look for some clues, but I wish that we had the time to give them a proper burial."

I’m worried this little baby they talked about is probably dead too. Wil investigates the room further.

Rolls

Investigate the room - (1d20+4)

(6) + 4 = 10

You don't notice much but you do, at a brief glance, inspect that the dollhouse is an accurate, to-scale replica of of the house. Knowing your way around the house is very useful and this seems to show what's behind every door.
OOC:
If you choose to inspect the dollhouse further, give me a Perception check.
