"Five hundred thirty-eight thousand, six hundred forty-seven minutes."

Rymente stares at Sariel, as if she was interrupting something, after a moment he says "If only I have the answer."
Jan 16, 2018 4:04 pm
"What are you counting?"
Jan 16, 2018 5:47 pm
Rymente looks at Sariel with, what could only be described as, a look of concern "Minutes...you know, sixty seconds."
Jan 16, 2018 6:43 pm
As we're traveling, I keep my eyes peeled for extra tracks or potential traps.
OOC:
What should I roll. My favored terrain is forest.
Jan 16, 2018 6:52 pm
Make a survival check for tracks and a perception check for traps. Because it’s your favored terrain you can double your proficiency bonus fo wisdom checks.
Jan 16, 2018 7:00 pm
Sariel senses Rymente's discomfort. She changes the subject.

"Hey, just so you know, we all got our secrets and yours are none of my business and that's that. But we're going to go kill some goblins together and I make it a habit to get to know the people I'm fighting beside."

She pauses for a moment.

"Actually, I never learned to tell time on the clock. I mean, I just look and see where the sun is in the sky. The seasons seem to do a good enough job of keeping the years straight otherwise. But, I'm tired of people looking at me like an idiot when I tell them I don't know. So, maybe you could teach me sometime?"

I scan the area as we move.

Rolls

Survival - (1d20+6)

(13) + 6 = 19

Perception - (1d20+2)

(15) + 2 = 17

LenInactive for 16 days

Ever since Leylin's song, she's felt upbeat and refreshed, and her Dark Consort has been blessedly silent. She supposed this was how normal people always felt. The sun even stings her eyes a little less than usual.

Sariel appreciates how methodical and intuitive Amaris seems to operate. It reminds her of how their scouts would operate back in Kryptgarden, and her uncle always spoke highly of their skills.

At an opportune time, Sariel says "Amaris, your skills are as good as any I've ever seen."
OOC:
Damn it's nice to have a Ranger in the party!
Jan 16, 2018 7:28 pm
"Secrets? No. Secrets cause worry and worry is no good. But what you are looking for, I cannot answer--for that is a question for yourself; I can distinguish friend from foe, the answer to who you are to me is up to you." Rymente mimics Sariel's pause and lingers on it for a bit longer "Now I have a question for you. What is a clock?" He quickly turns to his shoulder "That wasn't a stupid question...You can't tell time on a hit, that doesn't make any sense...See, it wasn't a stupid question." He turns back and looks at Sariel expectantly.

Scanning as you walk you don’t see any additional tracks then the dozen or so goblins that you know have used this trail.

After about 10 minutes down the trail you discover a crude snare trap in the middle of the path. Clearly laid by the goblins to discourage unwanted followers.
Jan 16, 2018 9:24 pm
I hold my hand up, motioning for everyone to stop moving. Trap. I say, pointing. Who can disable it?
Jan 16, 2018 11:23 pm
Sariel shrugs her shoulders, confused by his response. But, at least they were talking. Just as she was going to describe her uncle's clock, she halts at Amaris's discovery.

"Does Amaris translate to Eagle Eyes in your language? Well done."
OOC:
Does a snare need a roll to disable?
Edit: typo of Amaris's name.

OOC:
an Int or dex check (whichever is higher) and if you have proficiency in thieves tools you can add that bonus, I would allow tinkers tools as well.
Jan 17, 2018 12:45 am
"Do we have to disable it? Why not just go around it?"

Chimes in Leylin from the back of the column.

"Or we can just throw a big tree branch into it to trigger the trap."

I wouldn’t trust the area around the trap and if we set it off, that’s too much noise. I also recommend we limit our talking from here on out too. Too many ears in the trees. I say, hushed.
Jan 17, 2018 3:11 am
"Let's get to it then. How can I help?"
OOC:
I have a +2 Dex mod but no relevant proficiencies. I'll assist somebody to disarm it if there is someone more qualified, or I'll do it if somebody aids me.
Jan 17, 2018 3:44 am
"Well, if you insist on disarming..."

Leylin squeezes past everyone and kneels next to the trap. He observes the crude contraption for a few seconds, than closes his eyes for a second...

Psychic Focus: Nomadic Mind (Thieves' Tools)

And after that short pause Leylin pulls his shortsword out and tries to disable the trap.
OOC:
What trap? No trap here! :D

Rolls

Disable the trap - (1d20+6)

(20) + 6 = 26

Jan 17, 2018 4:49 am
With relative ease Leylin disables the trap with such precision that you wouldn’t have been surprised if he had been he one to originally set it. The path is once again clear for you to travel.
Jan 17, 2018 11:43 am
If there is a trap here, it must not be much longer until we reach the goblins. Let’s move, quickly and quietly. I say, before moving forward.
Jan 17, 2018 12:36 pm
All: make a stealth check

Amaris: make another perception check.
