The goblin appears to be truthful as he seems very scared for its life at the moment.

Sariel turns to the rest of the group.

"It'll be a tough go, clearing that cave, but I don't see any other choice. Gundren's man is going to be supper if we don't act fast. And Gundren might still be alive - if we can one of them to cough up the way to Cragmaw Castle."

She tacks on, with a smile,

"Sure, Amaris, justice sounds great. Just make sure you rain those arrows on them first."

Sariel makes her way to the mouth of the cave to peer inside with her darkness. She supresses a smile - Lathander's vision was coming true! It was unfortunate that Gundren was so much danger, but maybe this was part of Lathander's plan as well.

Fuck it's dark in there. I should get Leylin over here.

Peering into the dark cave (perception) - (1d20)

(3) = 3

"So what shall we do with this gob? Knock him out and tie up to the tree?"
Jan 24, 2018 2:21 pm
Just kill him. He's worthless now. Besides, I need some teeth. I smile at the goblin.
Jan 24, 2018 3:29 pm
Rymente scowls "He answered your fuckin' questions. Why is his reward punishment?" He crouches down and grabs the rope "Run. Do not return to this castle you spoke of. Do not return to this cave. Do not inform anyone of our presence. You are no longer a goblin, you are a survivor. Do not sully that or I will find you," He draws his dagger and runs it across the goblins cheek, drawing a bit of blood "And I've grown quite fond of cutting things." He removes the knife and takes off the ropes then stands, staring at the goblin.

Sauriel: Peering into the dark cave is difficult even with Darkvision as the sun is high in the sky currently and prevents your eyes from adjusting to the darkness found within. What you can see is that the narrow path inclines slightly as if continues into the cave.

ALL: The Goblin stares around stunned at the situation. Thank you. Me will run. Thank you. He looks behind him at the thicket and then back in front as if he would love to run but sees Leylin and Amaris currently blocking the open path. He seems very unsure on how to proceed. He then starts trying to push himself through the thicket.

Letting him go is going to come back to haunt us... I say, gritting my teeth and tightening the grip on my bow. Someone who can see in the dark, please lead the way.
Jan 24, 2018 6:51 pm
Sariel returns from the cave to report what little she saw, and hears the discussion about letting the goblin go.

"Rymente, what the fuck? Goblins aren't people, they are a scourge upon our world! The best reward you can give a goblin is a clean death. You think he's not going to betray us because you asked him not to? There might be other ambush teams out there he's going to meet up with and hit us from behind. If we go in that cave, we are going to kill all those the goblins. Are you prepared to do that?"
Jan 24, 2018 8:09 pm
When Rymente drawn his dagger Leylin almost went to stop him, but stopped the moment the ropes were removed. He nodded to Amaris, but the moment he heard Sariel's words, his face sunk.

"What do you mean, 'not people'? He's a living, intelligent creature. He thinks and he feels. One thing is to do battle, but he fulfilled his end of the deal and I intend on honoring mine. Although my idea was to bind him to a tree and release when we exit the cave, but I don't see a problem with letting him go now."

Leylin moves away clearing the path for goblin to escape into the wilderness.

"I do not like killing. If it's possible - I would prefer not to partake in it. But I also do not shy away from it when need arises."

While saying that Leylin looks at Sariel with dissaprovment in his eyes.

"Amaris's habbits with collecting trophies is one thing, but this bloodthirst from Sariel... Damn, she's just like those Sun bastards."
Jan 24, 2018 8:25 pm
The Goblin makes his escape into the forest heading Southeast as far as you can tell anyway. For now all you can hear is the steady sound of the stream as it leaves the cave mouth.
Jan 24, 2018 9:57 pm
Rymente spins around, getting in Sariel's face "Do not strike that tone with me on matters you know not! I do not care if he betrays me, I made the ramifications of that course quite clear to him. If he wishes that path, he will not receive a quick death, I will make him wish that we killed him here, I will make him regret his betrayal, I will make him no longer fear death but pray for it," He holds up his dagger, a few streaks of the goblin's blood still coating it, right in between his and Sariel's face "and I will know it is him. What I won't do, is kill something that was forthcoming with all it's answers; if it felt the need to be silent, I'd have no trouble making that silence take permanency." He lowers the dagger to be equal with Sariel's throat and locks eyes with her "If your course is to kill those you interrogate after they give you the answers you seek then you are no less of an enemy then what awaits us in the cave."

OOC:
Can I shoot the dagger out of his hand?
Jan 24, 2018 10:02 pm
OOC:
you can certainly try

I whip up my bow and loose an arrow at Ry's dagger.

The arrow misses the dagger but flys between Sauriel and Rymente sticking with a thud into the bark of nearest tree.

Seeing all this Leylin's face darkens.

"ENOUGH!", he growls, trying to suppress his voice as much as possible to not to alert anyone in the cave.

"It's done. We move on. Leave your differences for when we all get back to Phandalin. Right now we have a mission before us."

After saying all that he gives everyone a stern look and pauses. Leylin's face slowly relaxes and he closes his eyes and exhales.

Psychic Focus: Nomadic Chameleon
"I will try to scout ahead a bit. Please, don't kill each other while I'm gone...", he says with much more calm voice and moves towards the cave's entrance.
OOC:
Leylin attempts to sneak into the cave and take a look around inside. Threshold of movement - any crossroad or "room" entrance

Rymente maintains a piercing gaze even as the arrow whizzes by, at Leylin's words he lowers his dagger but maintains the gaze and doesn't back away.

[ +- ] Scene
Leylin As you enter the cave mouth the path in front continues to incline along side the stream. The ceiling rises sharply about 20’ tall. You can see the odd stalagmite peppered on the path ahead of you.

Almost immediately to the right you can see a few uneven stone steps leading up into what appears to be a small dank chamber. Listening over the sound of the stream you can here the sounds of snarls and rattling chains coming from close within the chamber.

Looking farther down you can see the main passage from the cave mouth climb steeply upward, the stream plunging and splashing down its west side. In the shadows, a side passage leads west across the other side of the stream.

Sariel looks at both Leylin and Rymente like they're insane, and her eyes narrow at the drawn blade. She does not flinch at Amaris's arrow.

"It told us about the cave, so what? Even in that act, it was betraying its own people! Made it easier for us to go in and kill its kin, just to save its skin. You call this cowardice a virtue and then want to reward it. I would have had more respect for it if it told us nothing."

"I can only hope that going in these caves will purge you of any notion that goblins are anything but monsters."
