To all, this town is under active siege right now, there will be no "time jumping" as you move as a group through the town and will have to risk random encounters...we will continue to use the map for travel for the duration of the siege...also the children can travel at a max pace of 20 per turn. They can be carried but anyone who does so will be at disadvantage on attacks and cannot wield two-handed weapons

Harold will sheath his sword and scimitar, and he will draw his longbow. I’ll stay in step with the children. He pulls an arrow out, and moves forward with it knocked, but the bow not drawn while they run.

OOC:
please just do a quick check in with rp to further discuss your plans or some sort of thumbs up to start moving towards the keep (if that is where you wish to go). Ultimately you need to tell me which direction you head in as it will make a difference.

X marks the spot on the map as to where you currently are. As we move in whatever direction you choose I will remove the "fog of war" as we go. If/when encounters occur I will roll Iniative and zoom in like before.

Hope you guys are enjoying this as much as I am!

Actaeon pockets the copper, and his arrows, and then turns to the commoners, These aren't much, but you should arm yourselves with what you can! Quickly now, let's make for the keep! he notches an arrow in his bow, and readies to fire as soon as he sees an enemy. As soon as everyone picks a direction, he will help take point so he can fire if needed.

Taking "Ready" action to immediately fire an arrow as soon as an enemy is within range.

Harold wishes to move between the buildings east of our location.

You are doing a great job DM.
Bartholomew is urging the group to follow him towards the keep, but in particular wants to hang close to the family to ensure he can protect them. He sees Harold take a path between the houses instead of the road. That could be a good idea.

"Troops, follow Harold. Stay close. Keep your eyes peeled. Move!" He notices the family, particularly the children, are struggling to maintain the pace. He smiles reassuring but just manages to expose a series of fangs. He tries to calm them. In a surprisingly gentle gesture he says to the children, "You are safe, little ones. I will make sure no harm becomes you. Keep moving, show me the way to the keep."

Finding himself hustled along with the others, Thorndyke can’t help but wonder how he got into this mess.

"Why did Leosin have to choose now to come here?" he mutters.

But he has to admit, hiding behind the thick walls of a keep does seem more appealing than just having a thicket between himself and fiery painful death.

He watches the others with a mixture of incredulity and admiration as they seem to show no fear at all. He goes to say something to Batholomew, but seeing the towering Dragonborn so close makes him change his mind, so instead he turns to Harold,

"You are aware there's a dragon, right?"

Varl, recognising the need for urgency as the group began to move on, quickly looked for his dart in the neck if the kobold it downed.

He suddenly realised his companions intended to move to the keep with the family. He railed against the decision.

"Friends," he said, feet planted firmly amongst the slain kobold. "We must be rational in this time. We must find safety for this family. We do not know what awaits us ahead and we cannot rush head long into that uncertainty with a critically injured woman and her two children no matter how well you arm them. Let us find them safe harbour before we rejoin battle. We can then clear a path street by street to the safety of the keep once its safety is guaranteed. What say you?"

OOC:
as a rule I say whenever you announce retrieving ammunition of any kind you find 50% of the number used rounded down with a minimum of zero . Since darts isn’t ammunition then I will say you the same applies but a minimum of one.

As Varl finishes talking and the majority of you, including the Swift gmfamily have begun moving in the direction of the Keep. You notice that the Dragon has started making closer and closer fly bys until it lands just to the west of the group right next to Thorven, the dwarves cleric. You can now see that this huge beast is an adult blue dragon. It reaches down with its mouth and grabs the dwarf. Before it moves to fly away it looks at you all with a frightening look with the dwarf clutches in its jaws screaming.

Frightful Presence

Everyone make a wisdom saving throw Dc17 if you fail then you become frightened. You each may take an attack on the dragon if you wish before it flys away with Thorven (Skeeze Bowed out of the game due to personal obligations). If you are frightened then do it with disadvantage.

The Swift family takes off in the direction of the houses as the dragon lands.

Having already notched his arrow, and prepared for a shot, he immediately aims at the dragons eyes, and fires. Edit: He feels the dragons presence attempt to mess with his will, but he holds it off, and instead notches another arrow, and fires it at the other dragons eye, screaming in draconic, Remember me serpent! For I am the last man you shall see!

Using reaction to fire arrow immediately after seeing the dragon. Using action after making the save to fire a 2nd shot-
both shots are aimed at the eyes.

Crit! What's your rules on critical damage? Max+Roll+modifer? 2 damage rolls? 1 roll+modifier and double it?

Actaeon ready for action unleashes two arrows into the massive creature. The arrows hit their mark precisely but against such a creature it hardly notices you. Focusing now only on the snack it has in its mouth.

What do I roll for critical damage?

Harold yells to the group,Everyone, to me!, then makes a dash in the direction of the buildings.

Having been a dragon himself the imposing blue dragon doesn’t phase him. The poor dwarf... but nothing he can do about that now. He continues to rally the group, urging them towards the keep and ignoring the pleas of Varl.

"Keep moving. ‘Tis but a dragon..." He takes the hand of the smallest child and keeps moving between the houses, following Harold.

Varl shoke his head, jaw clenched as the dwarf is devoured by the blue dragon.

The unfolding events meant a long palaver on the topic of strategy was no longer in question. The only action logical for pursuit was fleeing.

"We must flee, brothers,"
he shouted over the roaring, grumbling and crunching of the dragon. "Lets try and lose this beast in the town. Move close to the keep but we must understand what is going on inside it before we enter. Move now, while it is...distracted."

The monk dragged his eyes from the chewed form of the dwarf who lived only moments ago.

Steeling his resolve he scooped a child into his arms and ran to the near, est buildings to the east looking back over his shoulder intermittently to check on the blue dragon. As he found cover and waited for the group to catch up, the monk used the Mark of the Wild ability of his kin to hide from the Blue Dragon, child tucked against his monk's robes to stifle its cries.
OOC:
Not sure what to roll for Mark of the Wild "attempt" to hide?

Rolls

Wisdom Saving Throw - (1d20+4)

(15) + 4 = 19

OOC:
I'll just roll an extra damage roll I suppose? Not that it matters, because it'd barely even be harmed, but a crits a crit.

Rolls

Damage - (1d8+4)

(2) + 4 = 6
