After the previous days trials the evenings rest was a welcome period. While uneventful, the night was a cold one. The winter night brought cold winds. You all stayed close to the fire. You awoke to a clear sky but a strong wind that would make shooting an arrow difficult if needed.

You break camp early and begin the trip to Phandalin.
OOC:
what are you doing with the supplies from the cave? Leaving them or attempting to take them with you?

The trip to Phandalin takes you the better part of the day and is entirely uneventful. . If anyone would like to have any conversation at this time feel free to do so. If not just post ready. Once I have 4 ready’s then we will fast forward.

"You're not wrong Rymente. But the rub is, what if you're equally fucked if you don't reach for it? I'd rather die fighting than just accept the inevitable."

After a moment, she stops walking and turns to Rymente.

"Damned if you do, damned if you don't. You can only try to not lose yourself then." Rymente pauses as Sariel stops and offers her help. He stands in silence for a moment before placing a hand on her shoulder "I have to scores to even, not yet at least." he gives a light shake to show thanks "Be careful, you walk a fine line between reality and insanity; you don't want to stumble onto the latter side." he releases his grip and begins to walk "Five hundred thirty-nine thousand, one hundred and eighty two minutes."

The rutted track emerges from a wooded hillside, and you catch your first glimpse of Phadalin. The town consists of forty or fifty simple log buildings, some built on old fieldston foundations. More old ruins-crumbling stone walls covered in ivy and briars-surround the newer houses and shops, showing how this must have been a much larger town in centuries past. Most of the newer buildings are set on the sides of the cart track, which widens into a muddy main street of sorts as it climbs toward a ruined manor house on a hillside at the east side of town.
As you approach, you see children playing on the town green and townsfolk tending to chores or running errands at shops. Many people look up as you approach, giving Gu'lorg a longer look than the rest of you, but all return to their business as you go by.

Sildar seems much more at ease.

My friends, he says, let us secure lodgings. I'm told the local inn, the Stonehill Inn I believe it is called, is very quaint. I need to get a proper nights rest and secure a loan so I can pay you all for escorting me here. Give me until tomorrow to get things in order, I myself then plan on looking into the disappearance of my friend Iarno. I hope you continue the investigation into Gundren's whereabouts.

Leylin nods to the leaving Sildar and turns to his companions.

— I'd say we first deliver the supplies to..., he pauses for a few seconds, I think it was called something like Borten Provisions?

Scratching behind the ear awkwardly Leylin looks at Gu'lorg.

— I presume that you will report the status of your caravan to your employer now?

Also, Leylin had Mantle of Joy active since they left the camp - so it probably improved the mood around him.

Titan says:
I will and I do. May I ask where you will be? He continues following the group.
Well tonight I’m headed to the stone hill inn to fetch a room. In the morning I will begin my questioning but I will surely find the townmaster as the Lords Alliance has business with this town indeed. Sildar thanks you all again for the rescue and escort.

I will see you again soon. with that he heads to the Stonehill Inn.

You shortly get to Barthen’s Provisions as the town is not very large you quickly move around. Entering the large building you walk into a typical frontier trading post. Almost every piece of adventuring gear you could imagine is here on the shelves. At the counter you see a lean, balding human male. You would guess him to be in his late 40’s early 50’s. He smiles as you walk towards the counter, though Gu’lorg does get a strange look briefly from the man, which seems to be common as people aren’t used to seeing hobgoblins among a group of adventurers.

welcome to Barthen’s! How can I help you?
Mar 17, 2018 1:14 pm
Leylin comes forward with a smile on his face.

— Hello, good sir. We're here to deliver goods on behalf of the Gundren Rockseeker. And we were told that payment will be issued by you upon the dilvery. Cart is just outside, you can inspect the wares.
Mar 17, 2018 1:40 pm
The shopkeeper’s smile widens, Excellent! Ander! Thistle! Go outside and start unloading the supplies off that wagon. Two young clerks come from the back room and start heading outside. Upon seeing a hobgoblin, they can’t help but react. They stop suddenly eyes wide.
Mar 17, 2018 2:55 pm
Seron splits from the group as soon as they reach Barthen's shop to go to his own, the Lionshield Coster, to inform them of the news.
He enters the shop and looks for the owner.

Barthen’s:

Boys stop staring, it’s rude. Now get outside and unload the wagon. The shopkeeper stands up and moves over to a desk. He opens the bottom left draw with a key and pulls out a box. Opening the box he removes a pouch. I believe the agreed upon amount was 40 gold pieces. The man smiles placing the pouch on the front counter in front of Leylin. And how rude of me, my name is Elmar, Elmar Barthen. I appreciate you all helping out Gundren and getting his supplies down here. He and his brothers are doing good things for this town, good things. Rediscovering that mine is going to bring this town up I tell you.

Leylin receives the money and puts the pouch away. His face turns solemn.

— It's a pleasure, Elmar. My name is Leylin. And I'm afraid that we have some bad news about Gundren. You see, he was abducted by goblins. Not killed, but kidnapped. We tried to rescue him and dealt with the cave full of gobs and theur bugbear leader. But alas, we were a bit late and old Gundren was moved to some other place. We rescued his companion named Sildar and have all the intentions to continue the search for the Gundren.

After delivering all the news at once, Leylin awkwardly scratches his cheek and looks around the shop.

— I realize it's a bit awkward to get to business after what I've said... But I'd like to buy some supplies...

Hearing Leylin’s tale causes Elmar’s face to noticeably sadden.

Oh dear, poor Gundren. I hope he is alright. I consider him a good friend, I do hope you all can help find him. This is terrible. It has to be related to the lost mine of Phandelver’s Pact. . Their was such excitement when he and his brothers began talking of discovering it in the nearby hills. Nundro and Tharden are camped nearby. I haven’t seen them in a tenday so I do expect them to come by soon to Re supply.

A quick scan of the room shows several different people, for Seron you do not spot Sildar among the current tavern goers. You do notice a talkative barmaid, a miner and a farmer sitting together talking over mugs of ale, a young human woman serving as a waitress, currently dropping off food to a woman sitting by herself, and a boy cleaning up some other tables.

As Seron enters he spots Sauriel who acknowledges him and gestures for him to join her.

Amaris- you spot the sign hanging above the front door just as Elmar had described, shaped like a shield with a blue lion painted on it. You enter the Lionsheild Coster to be greeted by a human woman in her mid 30’s named Linene Graywind.

well let’s see what we can do. I’d be willing to offer you 10gp for the two blades. Perhaps a little bit more in a trade. Are you interested in anything in particular?

Linene raise her eyebrows a little. Im sorry my wares aren’t to your taste. I don’t think you understand where you are. Phandalin is basically an outpost, a growing town yes but not some established city like Neverwinter or Triboar even. We struggle even getting our shipments of regular supplies from Yartar. Just had one of the fellas from the last shipment pop in here saying how the whole caravan got taken out by goblins. He was the last survivor. Damn shame we have so much to deal with around here. Then the freaking Redbrands on top that causing trouble in town. She takes the swords back and returns them to the shelf.

Elmar does his best to maintain a polite face as the Hobogoblin steps foreward to pose his questions. I do apologize sir, I do not carry any arcane items. To be perfectly honest, I don't believe anyone in Phandalin does. This is a primitive town as of yet. If the Rockseeker brothers are as successful with reopening of the mines as I think they will then I do expect that to change. For now, however, I'm afraid you are shit out of luck in the magic item department.

Gu'lorg grabs his knife, pricks his fingertips until blood begins to draw from each fingertip, and then offers his hand in a handshake fashion towards Elmar. To my people, this is the handshake of friendship. I am giving you some of my lifeblood as a means of bringing your position higher in goblin society. Should you encounter goblins, show them your hand and tell them that you befriended Gu'lorg, booyahg, or magic caster, of Bargrivyek, and they should not kill you if you leave quickly. Do you accept my friendship?

Whether Elmar accepts or rejects this token, Gu'lorg thereafter asks: Do you know of any book places? I think you humans call them libraries?

After paying five silver, Leylin bemusedly watches Amaris stroll in, talk about some strange stuff and storm off.

⟦He's pretty energetic, all the things considering..., crosses his mind.

Leylin turns over back to the bartender and asks:

— What was that about 'redbrands'? Is that some sort of organization in Phandalin?

Leylin hides his emotions by taking a sip from his mug. When he continue speaking, his voice is steady. He also keeps it down so only Elsa can hear him.

— I take it that there's no guard in this town to enforce the law. Any other ... things ... happening in this town?

Finishing his drink and putting mug on the counter, Leylin shrugged and answered:

— By "things" I meant any ... let's say powers, lonely traveler should be wary of. And as for 'Orcs subjugation' - I'm not a mercenary., Leylin smiles. Just a traveler.

What's Cragmaw Castle? He says before taking a sip of his drink again. Why must there be problems abound? You wouldn't want to help would you? He asks Sariel.
OOC:

Going to make a history check to see if I can recall any information on the castle.
Also, because I don't think you saw Lenpelletier....
lenpelletier says:
Sariel will buy a drink for Seron and toast in Elven.

"That was a pretty brave move back there in the cave. Your sacrifice made Sildar's retreat possible, probably saved the old man's neck. What's your story if you don't mind my asking?"
Seron takes his drink appreciatively."Brave. Stupid. Often the same word. He says cracking a smile. "What's to tell? Just a Sun Elf trying to make his way. Came from Myth-Drannor to Yartar where I got that job protecting this caravan." He takes a looooong swig looking over his tankard the entire time at Sariel. Gauging by her expression he hadnt done well answering her question. Putting down the mug he starts again. "I crossed the right people in Myth-Drannor. Familiar at all with house Vyshaan?" He says, whispering the question.

The last few months, the Redbrands are the only thing in this town worth worrying about. Outside the town, I’m sure you know what’s out there. Orcs, goblins all many of dangerous beasts.
Mar 21, 2018 6:11 pm
— Well, speaking of goblins - there's about a dozen less of them now. Including bugbear leader of theirs. They've ambushed wrong caravan., says Leylin while looking towards the table where his companions are. He shruggs and picks up the lute that was leaning on the counter next to his feet. After checking it's strings he looks at Elsa. Do you mind I play?

Sariel finishes her drink and stands up. She turns to Seron.

I'm going to ask about this druid, want to come?

She turns to Gu'lorg the Hobgoblin.

Might be best if you stay here. I don't want to spook them out of a sharing mood.

we’ve slowed to a bit of a crawl now. For the sake of brevity...with the sun down most of not all shops are closed except for the two taverns. People are at home and heading to bed for the evening if they are not at a tavern.

Leylin has secured a room and gone to bed.
Rymente’s current status is unknown as he disappeared essentially upon entering town.
Amaris?
Sauriel?
Gu’lorg?
Seron?

There are four remaining rooms for rent at the inn. They cost 5sp and come with a meal (your dinner). Are you getting rooms?

If so then your drinks will have cost you an additional 1sp. If you are not getting a room then your meal also costs an additional 3sp

What are you doing?
Mar 25, 2018 10:12 pm
Sariel will get a room and hope to ask about the druid before sunset.

No one in the bar knows anything more about the Druid. You get confirmation from another tavern goer to check with Qelline. Asking around you hear a story from a miner about the Orc raiders being spotted on the east end of the Triboar Trail. Barth, an old farmer, when asked about the Druid tells you a story about a Sister Garaele, and how she left town recently for a few days and when she returned she was wounded and exhausted.

Gu'lorg would pay for a room and a meal, and he would study his spell book, getting to know these newer spells that he is not quite used to yet. Area control spells are not his strong suit, but he thought it may help the party in the long run to affect the battlefield, as opposed to directly fighting. He practices slicking grease on the floor, and casts some small fog clouds in his room. Then, content with his understanding and progress, dreams of full-figured orange women with fiery red hair from back home.

OOC:
6sp from Gu'lorg...that leaves Seron..I'll just assume he takes the last room
Mar 26, 2018 8:45 pm
Sariel, Seron had expressed that he would travel with you to the druid.
Seron will also get a room. Before retiring will try and find out what anyone is willing to share about the red brands. Then go to bed.
OOC:
Sorry, was a crazy weekend.
Mar 26, 2018 10:36 pm
Seron gets the general vibe from the people at the stonehill inn that the Redbrands are disliked at best. Those that new the Dendrar family in particular are pretty upset by the murder of the patriarch and the fact that the rest of the family has gone missing. The peole in general would be very pleased if someone or some folk would do something about them.
