Not sure if that hits or not.
The first shot misses... Two more Speed Defense rolls please.

Seth magnificently rolls to avoid the gunfire, and luckily...
OOC:
Want to set a major effect for your awesome matrix dodge?
May 7, 2018 10:15 pm
OOC:
Hell yeah I do. Would it be possible for Seth to have rolled into a table with a cypher on it, and it falls off the table into his hands? Failing that I'd like to roll through a flimsy wall out of the building.

Seth rolls away from fire, onto a table and comes up with a leather jacket that catches his eye as being touched by the Strange.

GM prompt

Katyushka: Still waiting for two more speed defense rolls

Duke: a speed defense roll and an action please
May 9, 2018 1:07 pm
OOC:
My apologies been out of pocket for a minute.
Duke attempts to dodge out of the way of incoming fire, once that's over he'll use the Friction Reducing Gel on the floor by the Fatman and side door to buy more time for the escape.

Rolls

Speed Def Check - (1d20)

(12) = 12

May 9, 2018 3:56 pm
Duke evades the gunfire.

The fat man does attempt to flee with his precious case through the suddenly and inexplicably slippery area. How about, Duke make me an attack check against him, since players always roll. The gel gives you an asset on the roll.
May 9, 2018 5:34 pm
OOC:
Let me know which pool to pull from.
"Now hold on Cowpoke you ain't gettin' away that easily." Duke states.
OOC:
Attempting with Effort.
OOC:
Update for the major effect as one who collects bounties can I say I have the case since bounty hunting is all about the target you're chasing after?

Rolls

Attack with an asset plus effort - (1d20)

(20) = 20

OOC:
Speed pool for throwing something sounds right. Also, that is a lot of success.
Duke's slippery gel completely disrupts the fat man's plans. He lunges for the door, slides on the gel, bumps into his goons who all tumble to the ground like bowling pins cricket wickets (we're in Eurasia after all). Windmilling his arms as he goes down, the much maligned fat man flings the case over his head and it flies to Duke's waiting arms, who catches the surprisingly light case by the handle.

OOC:
I'm going to have to wait to check if it's a decoy or a Felix carpetbag type situation my next turn. I'm having Feng Shui 2 flashbacks.

Micah looks at Duke, at the fat man, then at Duke again. "Are we taking this guy with us?"
OOC:
So, the case got zapped back to Ruk, but this guy still has a case? I think I might have misunderstood something...

OOC:
The contents of the case have vanished, which is why the case crushed inward, like all the air being sucked out of a plastic bottle.
May 10, 2018 2:20 am
OOC:
I figure you whammied the item in the case
May 10, 2018 2:30 am
OOC:
Got it! So the case is still here but the item is apparently not. That's what I missed. Thanks.
May 10, 2018 6:38 pm
"Couldn't hurt, he seems like the weakest link." Duke states shaking the case with a smirk.
OOC:
I think everyone is up, then the 7 thugs if the Fat Man is down from taking his turn.

Initiative Order
Duke
Fat Man from Ruk
Seth, Micah, Katyu, and Vinny.
10 auction attendees
7 car-thugs
Right, Seth, Micah, Katyu, and Vinny are all up, and I still need 2 more speed Defense rolls from Katyushka.

Micah hurries over to where the fat man lies on the ground and half squats next to him. His shoes squelch slightly in the gel covering the floor. Micah smiles at the prone man, resting his forearms on his knees.

"Hey, look, we really don't want to hurt you, but we can't let your plans to destroy Earth succeed. So, what do you say that we take this somewhere else and chat like civilized people?" His tone is friendly and he maintains his smile, trying to disarm the man and make him doubt his own cause just enough to agree to go with them.

"A momentary truce, yeah?"
OOC:
I think this guy is probably hostile, so I don't think I can use my Fast Talk twist on him. I will try to persuade him, which I'm trained in.

Rolls

Persuade, trained - (1d20)

(12) = 12

"You know, I think that is pretty reasonable." He waves to his men. "Stand down. You're fired."

The armed men look at each other, shrug, and vanish into the alleyway, ducking along the near wall to avoid sniper fire.

"Alone at last. What do you want?"
May 11, 2018 12:17 pm
"Ma'am can we get a status on your situation?" Duke requests looking at the thugs as they scatter. While he waits for the response he'll try and address the man's concerns in the room with them.

Duke gets ready to speak and stops and realize that really ain't his thing unless it's letting people know they're being detained or stating someone is impeding him doing that to someone and waves everyone over.

"I'm under the impression he's in charge or the head honcho of Karum or he's speaking for him, her, them... yall... He got our attention about Earth and his viewpoint besides the method we really don't know 'what it'll do' down the line. We should find another method ta make things all peaceful like, exchange of information/experimental situational environments, route to other revisions, goods, services. I get the whole receding thing I really do, I'm a Texan, but yall really want to see him poke the bear and stare out into the void and lay claim to someplace by their lonesome... if it's someone else's they might get swallowed up and that something will come looking at Earth next." he explains, "You don't shit where ya eat... das all I'm tryin' say yall." he explains in short what he was trying to get at to the others.

GM Prompt: The game has slowed a bit. Let's jump ahead a bit.

After securing the area, the fat man seems to be more interested in his life than in anything else. Opening the case for you, you do see that it is empty, with foam packing in the basic shape you were expecting.

He tells you that he is a courier, and came from an inapposite gate (also called a matter gate) to Ardeyn. They had to use matter gates because translating would alter the weapon - not having access to a matter gate directly from Ruk, they had to detour through Ardeyn.

The weapon is likely lying in the open back in Ardeyn on the otherside of that gate. The open being a tavern called the Pyramid within the Citadel Hazzurium.

He cannot take you to the gate on this side, because it has dissolved (they are temporary in nature) but he will assist you in translating there in exchange for his freedom once in Ardeyn.
