Chapter 4: The Dead, the Lost, and the Forgotten

Mar 20, 2018 7:05 am
With Cyrek manning the Dark Lance Battery, you mentally hit the thrusters and blast away. In all the vehicles Kuros has flown, at top speed, this is possibly the fastest one. The trip will take exactly 43.26 minutes Kuros mentally notes. As the journey draws to an end you notice the speeding forms of Raider Transports, Reaver Jetbikes, Venom Transports, Scourges, razerwing flocks and several types of fighter jets below and above you.

The outer defenses of the hive have already been breach when you arrive. Kabalite warriors are chasing the terrified populous through the streets. The screams of the dying merging with the screams of Voidraven Bomber engines. You receive and comms message. "This is Alyss, if you are who you say you are I am glad your here. We need support at the inner-sections of the hive. Over."

The message has barely ended when Kuros has to roll the fighter as a beam of darkness streaks past.
Mar 20, 2018 7:23 am
"We are and you should be."Kuros answers on comms. Then Kuros belts out through the speakers, "Give us some covering fire we are headed in!" He soars down into an opening in the immense hive. Nice and easy, the armor will hold, the gunners will make a path, the emperor is with us..." Kuros thinks to himself praying he doesn't need to make a piloting roll cause the odds are not in his favor.
Mar 20, 2018 12:45 pm
"Good, drop anyone not essential for plane operation down in the hive and then thin out their air forces. If you would be so kind." Alyss sarcasticly spits.
Mar 20, 2018 1:04 pm
"Sounds like time to drop off the space marines so they can clean up the baddies on the ground while Cyrek and I stay on board to continue taking down the enemy air cover, eh?" says Val.

Val continues musing, "Well, I could head down to the ground as well... but honestly, I probably wouldn't be able to keep up with the marines... and I'm still badly wounded. The smart thing would be to stay on board. Besides, what are the chances of you crashing twice in one day, right Kuros??"
Mar 20, 2018 5:05 pm
Kuros lowers the fighter to about 20 meters off the ground where the Marines repeat the same process as the previous crash site of excessive amounts of cover fire from an inferno charged heavy bolter followed by a guttural howl and an insane charge. Brother-Captain Gregor jumps from the plane. His servo-enhanced limbs keeping his bones from breaking; they do not how ever stop the pavement and bodies he is landing on from doing the same. With a laugh Johansson does the same. Landing with his heavy bolter and braziers burning.

Lifting off again, the warning sirens go off in both Kuros' mind and inside the ship. (Make a piloting roll Aaron to avoid some missiles) At the same moment a stray shot from below punctures through the glass and into Cyrek. He coughs blood "Val I think you might need to take control of this gun."
Mar 20, 2018 6:49 pm
"Dammit! I can swing an axe alright but guns...well my aim ain't great..."

Val settles into the gunner's position and gets himself oriented with the controls.
Mar 20, 2018 11:15 pm
Kuros mentally pulls on the controls and attempts a barrel roll.

Rolls

Piloting check Skill 43 - (1d100)

(78) = 78

Mar 20, 2018 11:15 pm
OOC:
And THAT is why Kuros prayed ;)
Mar 21, 2018 5:21 am
You roll the plane beautifully between the two missiles. It is the best you have ever flown, nothing can touch you. When the wing clips the edge of a spire and the plane spirals out of control, your panic sending flairs in every direction. Wrenching on the mental controls you just manage to avoid nose diving into the ground there is however and massive jolt as the bottom of the plane bounces off the pavement.
Mar 21, 2018 6:27 am
"So... You know I was joking about crashing twice in one day, right Kuros?" grumbles Val as he struggles to his feet. Val looks around trying to figure out where we are and if there are any hostiles nearby.

"Frak you and and the deamon horse you rode on Val." Kuros then concentrates on seeing what kind of damage the ship sustained.
Mar 21, 2018 12:48 pm
As Val peers down the ramp into the streets he immediately hears a series off scraping, metal on metal sounds as a hail of splinter rifle fire hits the ship. Braving another look he sees several black armoured warriors perched behind the cover of what once was houses. Standing in the center of the street a humanoid stands. Clad in crystal white armour, carrying a blade bigger than even Vera.

Kuros delves into the ship, engines operational, weapons operational, Hull undamaged, left wing undamaged and then kuros screams as he can no longer feel his right arm.
Mar 22, 2018 2:45 am
"Get me out of this eldar forsaken ship!!!"
OOC:
Kuros will try to get out of the cockpit.
Mar 22, 2018 5:13 am
There is a sick wet noise as the needles simultaneously retract. The pain is immense but once that moment is over you feel better than ever. What surprises you the most is your eyes are not damaged in the slightest.
Mar 22, 2018 5:22 pm
"Welcome back, Kuros. We've got company. I think they're here to discuss the finer points of your piloting..." Val points towards the white armored being with an oversized blade.

"I'm sure he's a reasonable man and can be persuaded not to swing that thing at us....right?" says Val as he pulls his boltgun out of its holster.
OOC:
I assume the hostiles are still a fair distance away?

Val yells out to the white crystal armor person, "Sorry about the rough landing! Send us a bill for the damages and we'll make it right, yah?"
Mar 22, 2018 5:47 pm
"Remind me to never fly again..." Kuros finds cover behind a piece of broken ship wing and draws his pistol.
Mar 23, 2018 4:43 pm
The white armoured being draws his pistol and tosses it back towards the other warriors. He them motions to Val and then the intervining 40ft. In broken low gothic he screams. "A duel to death."
Mar 23, 2018 4:47 pm
OOC:
Kuros wants to shoot him...

aaronschmidt says:

"I'm still badly hurt from our last fight. A duel with him right now will probably mean my death. Shoot him? Go for it. Here, you want to use my bolter?" Val offers up his bolter in case Kuros wants it. Otherwise, Val will just fire when Kuros opens fire.
Mar 24, 2018 3:52 am
"Naw, I'll use this little girl here." Kuros says as he pats his infernal pistol.

Rolls

Infernal Pistol, BS 50, Master Craft +10, Aim +5 = 65 - (1d100)

(14) = 14

Damage if it hits - (2d10+8)

(96) + 8 = 23

Mar 24, 2018 4:23 am
Val lays down suppressing fire, attempting to pin down that white armor creature or any of his flunkies who try to approach.
OOC:
Never used this action before, so I'll briefly go over what happens (core rulebook page 243). Enemies make a -20 will test. If they fail, they get pinned which means they only get a half action on their turn which they must use to move into cover. In addition, I make a -20 ballistics skill check to see if my suppressing fire happens to randomly hit a target.

Rolls

Ballistics Skill 30 - (1d100)

He lazily side steps the jet of super heated magma with unnerving grace. With a curt shout in elder he charges.

Mar 24, 2018 11:21 am
Seeing that thing dodge Kuros' beautiful shot and remaining unfazed by his suppressing fire, Val says to Kuros, "In case I don't survive this one, I've got one last thing to say to you: consider spending some more time in the flight training simulators!"

And if there's time, Val will also yell their crash location into the vox to the space marines followed by a " HEEEEEEEEELP!!!"

Rolls

Initiative - (1d10+3)

(5) + 3 = 8

Mar 25, 2018 10:05 am
OOC:
Going to roll for Kuros to speed things up.
The order will be:
Incubi
Val
Kuros
Kabalite Warriors
Mar 25, 2018 10:12 am
The white armoured creature lets out a yell of rage and disappointment and charges.

He swings the blade two handed at Kuros. (Hitting the left arm. 15 damage pen 4)
Mar 25, 2018 12:46 pm
Completely terrified at this great eldar god Kuros screams in pain as the blade slams into his armor lacerating his arm. "Ummm... I don't have a witty retort to that Val!!" Kuros yells as he runs back to his ship leaving a trail of blood to the hull.
OOC:
A couple of things:
1. Toughness on the arm is 7 armor is AP 4 so that is negated by penetration. So he takes 8 damage. His wound total is 15 so he has 7 left.

2. I forgot that Kuros has Mastery of Small Craft: Re-roll failed pilot test with small craft. That skill makes total sense since otherwise the pilot would fail more than 50 percent of the time... Oops.

3. Does this Eldar have a lair action? How did my 14 miss?! Did he teleport out of the way? Does he have a displacer field?

4. On my next turn what I hope to do is start the ship up again. Perhaps the kind GM will let me reroll my pilot test and if I make it the ship is fly-able? Puhhhh-lease.

5. In D&D there is a disengage action. I will use the 40K equivalent to run away without taking damage. If there is no equivalent he will use the dodge or any other defensive runaway from bad guy mechanic that he can. One more hit like that and he is dead.
Last edited March 25, 2018 12:47 pm
Mar 25, 2018 1:09 pm
OOC:
I'm guessing the Eldar dodged Kuros' amazing roll? It really was a good roll...see if you can keep doing that?

Speaking of which, Kuros has the opportunity to also dodge the Eldar's attack. Try rolling your dodge skill. If successful, the attack never hit.

Yup, Rogue Trader also has a disengage action so you can do that on your turn.

Once you take damage beyond your wounds, you start taking critical damage, so you don't die yet. Critical damage is stuff like your arm gets hacked off, which doesn't kill you...but sure hurts a lot!

Val is already at zero wounds and has taken critical damage. So Val is getting close to dying... We'll see.

GM, I believe Val grabbed some drugs from the Eldar complex to be used in his newly installed drug delivery system. Are those drugs available for use now? And if so, what drugs are they? I'm thinking Val might need them to survive this one...
Mar 25, 2018 1:14 pm
OOC:
Thanks Thomas! I forgot about dodge.

Rolls

Dodge 43 - (1d100)

OOC:
Retcon!!!
Kuros sees a vision of the eldar god slicing at his left arm, it is almost as if there was a psychic premonition, perhaps from his time connected to the ship giving him a glimpse of his fate... Then Kuros jumps a hard right. The ax slicing into part of the wing of the ship. Kuros scrambles to he feet and runs to get back into the ship. "I don't have a witty retort to that Val. But if you want live get back in the ship. Let's shoot his guy from inside!"

OOC:
Nice! And with your upcoming disengage, you're pulling one of these!!!
Mar 25, 2018 1:54 pm
OOC:
Val has no idea what the drugs do but he can try them. Also I believe Brother Johansson looked at your wounds during the the flight so you have healed 1d10 wounds.

Please try and keep celebration to the ooc thread. I am fine with questions.

For dodge pretend you hit then I will retcon in a dodge like Aaron did
Mar 25, 2018 2:08 pm
Val moves back into the ship and anticipating that the Eldar will follow on board before Kuros has a chance to get back into the air, Val quickdraws his axe and activates those drugs in preparation for the Eldar's next attack!
OOC:
I thought that healing from the marine was between the first crash landing and us wandering into the Eldar compound. But if another d10 is granted, I'll accept it with thanks to Brother Johansson!

Rolls

Healing from Johansson - (1d10)

(9) = 9

Mar 25, 2018 3:06 pm
Your body heats up to the point of burning. Your muscles bulge grotesquely. Your axe feels like a toy and you would much rather tear this Xenos scum to sherds with your bear hands.
OOC:
Val gains Unnatural Strength x2 and battle frenzy.
Mar 25, 2018 3:58 pm
Val, now having gone into a frenzy, yells from within the ship, "Come, Eldar scum!! Your life's end awaits!!!"
Mar 25, 2018 9:41 pm
As the creature steps into the ship everyone ducks instinctively as a massive boom comes from the building set diagonally in front of the ship. The wall of said building caves in on itself sending the wall above it crashing down on the Kabalite Warriors in the street below. Val and Kuros see picking themselves up from the rubble a man in carapace armour (Nas), an ogryn, and two masked humans. They immediately look at each other and the man in carapace armour sprints towards the ship without thinking as the other 3 open fire.
Mar 25, 2018 11:16 pm
A baritone voice laughs as he darts about the rubble moving for the ship. "There was no way out eh?" he barks over his shoulder moving into a full run.

Rolls

Init - (1d10+4)

(10) + 4 = 14

Mar 26, 2018 2:39 am
Val growls into comms, "Kuros, we've got friendlies incoming! At least I think they're friendlies... they're shooting at the Eldar!"
OOC:
What's the updated turn order and whose turn is it currently?
Mar 26, 2018 5:42 am
OOC:
Next round the order will be
Nas
Incubi
Val
Kuros
Kabalite Warriors
Gangsters

It is currently Kuros' turn
Mar 26, 2018 6:33 am
Kuros runs through the door and slams the close lever. The door now sealed. He runs to the cockpit and jumps into the seat. "Come on sweetey, start!"
OOC:
So I am hoping the ship is flight worthy.

Also Kuros would like to take over one or more of the ship guns from the cockpit.
OOC:
Edit:
Gawds dammit!

Mar 26, 2018 9:10 am
The needles go back in once again the pain. Without a moments thought you try and lift off which surprisingly works. You bump off the sides of the hive building. The exit ramp hanging open as the plane takes off causes the three people inside plane, Val, the incubi, and Nas who has just made it onto the ramp as Kuros took over, to lose their balance and go flying across the inside of the plane.
OOC:
Could Val and Nas please make agility tests.
Mar 26, 2018 12:40 pm
Speaking to Nas, Val says, "Stranger, brace yourself. We're probably about to crash...!"

Rolls

Agility 30 - (1d100)

(17) = 17

Mar 26, 2018 1:32 pm
Seeing the odd one and thinking back to when he got up and went into a dead run Nas offers up some information once the warning is uttered.

Fair enough, you there warrior! Men out there dropped part of a building on your comrades and they're shooting at you. Avenge the fallen... Nas gets out as he's tossed around looking for a place of purchase on the bumpy ride.
OOC:
Let me know if that's a bit too meta or if I wouldn't have realized there were others in the rubble.

Rolls

Agility Test 35 - (1d100)

(63) = 63

Mar 26, 2018 2:08 pm
OOC:
I'm fine with you seeing the bodies under the rubble.
Also I don't think I made it clear but the ogryn and 2 gas masked humans are after you as they work for the crime baron who hates you.
Mar 26, 2018 2:19 pm
"Awesome. Kuros and I have pissed off Eldar on our tail while you've got an ogryn on yours. I believe we'll get along juuuust fine...." snarls Val as he continues to size up the Incubi facing him. "How about you help me eject this abomination from the ship and we'll use the cannons on board to take down whatever it is you need to have obliterated...?"
OOC:
If it wasn't clear, Val is talking to Nas while facing and sizing up the Incubi in front of Val
Mar 26, 2018 2:54 pm
OOC:
Oh I know... I mean I may have well been one of the men involved if not the man, I'm not going to tell this eldar that. It was all a blur really I don't recall if I should be held accountable for my actions if they did lead possibly to indirectly causing this, how was I to know they'd be there...
Mar 26, 2018 3:21 pm
OOC:
To condense this assume the gangsters and the Kabalite Warriors are fighting on the ground. So we are back to the top with Nas.

Keeping in mind the ship is spinning with its exit ramp down about 40 feet off the ground. Currently you two and the Incubi (If you make lore xenos then you know what an Incubi is otherwise it's an armour xenos with a huge sword.) are circling each other in the 30 by 10 feet bay of the ship.
Mar 26, 2018 3:40 pm
OOC:
Once I know the result of the agi roll like if it has me on my feet I guess I can draw a weapon if he's within 3m it might be time to whip it out I guess...
Mar 26, 2018 7:45 pm
OOC:
Val and the Incubi are circling each other while your against a wall, next to a bleeding out body.
Mar 26, 2018 8:05 pm
OOC:
Wait in the body human?
"Person bleeding out. Help 'em out or give you a hand first?" Nas states looking between the two. He doesn't really know the situation but if he's part of a getaway he kind of wanted to know the game plan. He hand moving to the hilt of his weapon and the other ready to drop his back to search it if needed.
Mar 26, 2018 8:13 pm
OOC:
The body is human.
The body coughs up blood. "I'm...I'm fine help Val."
Mar 26, 2018 8:32 pm
Nas shrugs reaching for his whip, "Your life." he comments before darting to keep the freeloader that wasn't being friendly between him and the door he relaxed his shoulder trying to herd the larger combatant.
OOC:
If it hits use the roll below for damage that's higher due to Tearing. Unsure if he can dodge. Edit: Plus it's flexible so he can't parry.

(2) + 3 = 5

Damage R Pen 2 (Tearing 2nd Damage Roll) - (1d10+3)

(6) + 3 = 9

Mar 26, 2018 9:16 pm
The whip wraps around his head striking the back of his head at the base of his skull. He let's out a surprisingly loud scream of pain.

He leaps at Nas swinging a cleave straight down. It goes slightly wide and noticing this he, with a supreme show of strength well beyond what you imagine his slight frame is capable of producing, reverses the momentum of the blade causing the handle spike to crack into Nas' jaw. (13 damage pen 4)
OOC:
Val your up
Mar 26, 2018 10:40 pm
Val in his battle rage goes all-out against this abominable xeno scum, swinging his axe in an uppercut motion!

Rolls

Power axe attack 53 +10 battle rage +10 ganging up +20 all-out = 93 - (1d100)

(63) = 63

Power axe damage (pen 7) 1d10 +7 + unnatural strength 12 - (1d10+7)

(2) + 7 = 9

Mar 26, 2018 10:44 pm
OOC:
Okay, I typed in the damage roll incorrectly. It should be 21 points of damage, pen 7, to the body
Mar 26, 2018 10:48 pm
OOC:
If you'd like to retcon the unnatural strength part, I'd totally understand. That would knock 6 points off the damage in that attack, putting it at 15 points instead of 21.
Mar 27, 2018 8:31 am
OOC:
Could you show the parts of your attack. I.e. 9 roll, 7 str etc.
Mar 27, 2018 9:58 am
OOC:
Sure thing. Also, are my rolls visible? I think I set them correctly to be not hidden.

For the attack, Val's base WS is 53. Battle rage adds +10. Gang up (since Nas is also in melee with the Incubi) adds +10, and all-out attack adds +20. For a total roll target of 93. The d100 roll was 63 (hopefully it wasn't hidden). Reversing the 63 to a 36 indicates that the body was hit on the hit location table (pg. 244).

For the damage, the power axe base damage is 1d10+7, pen 7. Val's strength is 50 which is boosted to 60 via battle rage. Therefore, Val's strength modifier is 6. Unnatural strength doubles the modifier to 12 which is added to the weapon's base damage. So total damage will be 1d10+7+12. A 2 was rolled so 2+7+12 = 21 damage.
Mar 27, 2018 10:03 am
OOC:
Unfortunately he's going to dodge your attack. Kuros your up if you want to do anything otherwise I will assume your flying (crashing?) and shooting at stuff on the ground.
Mar 27, 2018 12:45 pm
OOC:
Uh... could I attempt to dodge too? This guy hits pretty hard... Also was I suppose to add my Strength bonus also? Unsure on a whip.
Mar 27, 2018 2:20 pm
OOC:
I posted my comments to your questions in the ooc thread. Of course the GM's word overrules anything I say...
Mar 27, 2018 2:44 pm
Nas clenches his jaw and tries to move out of the way surprised by the redirect. At least he had successfully pissed someone else off today it seems in that department he was on a roll. Nas stumbled back feeling his head spin a bit from the impact and swears.
OOC:
Yeah no dodging so 13 with 4 armor ignored I think drops me down to 1 wound XD.

While Nas' whip does miss the momentary loss of concentration for the Incubi causes him to swing his two strokes just wide of Val's neck and stomach.

"You are tough. I shall enjoy killing you."
OOC:
Val your up.
Mar 28, 2018 4:02 pm
OOC:
What I'd like to do is attempt a feint followed by a standard attack. But as I understand it, being in a battle rage won't allow it because I must always go all out. Also, I previously forgot to add a +5 on my attack for a good craftsmanship axe so will add it this time.
"I won't lie...I enjoy killing my own kind as well. But you...even more!"

Val uses his rippling drug-enhanced muscles to their fullest extent as he swings with reckless abandon!

Edit: If that isn't dodged or parried, it's pen 7 and a hit to the right leg.

The blow caves in his right knee, shattering bone and tearing the tendons. He stands on his one good leg and laughs. "You are better now not forever. Sylvatar will see you in death." His helmet face plate retracts and his mouth opens impossibly wide. His scream blows you back and pins you against the wall. He, will still scream throws a grenade and blows open the bomb bay. In one swift motion he pushes off with one leg and rolls out of the open bomb bay.

Kuros make a piloting roll. Nas and Val are deafened for the next hour.

Kuros screams into his comm "Ok. OK. Okay. I am up and running. Yeah, I know how to fly... Val do you have some new friends? Who should I shoot at?"

Kuros completely disorientated by the scream loses all control of the plane. It drops straight down, hitting several buildings on its way down. It's wing catches on one building and stops while the left side continues to fall. Finally with a metal on metal shriek it settles to a stop, wedged in the street.

Brother-captian Gregor's voice comes through the Comms. "Was that you we just saw crash? We're on our way hold tight."
Mar 29, 2018 11:10 am
"Yep, that was us...again." responds Val.

Val takes a look out the window/door/airlock to see if there's anyone else advancing on us at out new crash site.

"Hey Kuros, don't suppose you can get us airborne again, can you? Despite having difficulty keeping them airborne, you do seem to have a knack for making non-flightworthy craft take off."
Mar 29, 2018 11:29 am
Nas inhales finally getting his footing. "Does you pilot always fly drunk?" He asks and searches for his medikit and goes looking for the man who was bleeding out.
OOC:
Let me know if I need a roll to just stabilize him for now with the kit I'm at 55 skill.
Mar 29, 2018 11:53 am
"Well to be fair, its been one of those days. This was supposed to be a routine fallen soldier cadaver recovery mission - in and out, no complications, quick and easy. Then it turned into a firefight with heavy scav tanks, sneaking through a hidden Eldar slave and torture center, and now ending with an all out xeno assault on a hive city. So yah... Kuros is having a bit of an off day."
Mar 29, 2018 11:56 am
Then with some extremely obvious crazy in his eyes, Val says, "BUT I got an upgrade!" Val gestures towards the drug dosing implants visible on his body.
OOC:
Speaking of which... GM, what are the effects on Val once the drugs wear off?
Mar 29, 2018 1:05 pm
"Well good on you..." Nas offers up.
Mar 29, 2018 1:15 pm
Kuros tries to shake his head but remembers he has nasty needles sticking into his eyes. Disengage me from the cockpit ya damned contraption he thinks to the ship. Kuros turns off comms. I am never going to live this down...
Mar 29, 2018 1:34 pm
For your slanted point of view the street seems to be empty except for a few bodies, both imperial citizens and Dark Eldar killed in your crash.

The man was killed in a crash. He did have a screwed up note in his hand.

As Kuros gets out of the chair your comms light up. "We have heavy fighting on your way. Follow our coordinates." Brother-Captian Gregor's voice can be heard over the sound of gun fire.
Mar 29, 2018 2:00 pm
"Understood!"

When Kuros and Nas are ready, Val will take point heading towards the coordinates, power axe in hand.
Mar 29, 2018 2:02 pm
OOC:
If the man is the one in the back.
Nas closes the man's eyes and takes the paper before he uses the medikit on himself. "You do dis often? Have day where shit hits fan then falls down on your then the fan falls and hits you and you get covered in shit twice plus bleeding from fan blade stuck in head eh?" Nas asks as he busies himself before something else chaotic happens.

You step our into the now ruined street. It seems to quiet for a war zone but thinking nothing you carry one. Sanctus Valentina is built in a staggered level system meaning you come into view of the coordinates look down from above. You see a brutal swirling melee as wyches and incubi assault the defenders covered by the fire from Kabalite Warriors. Flying constructs of metal and tourtured flesh rip the defenders from the ground and devour them in a cloud of blood and flesh.

In the centre Brother-captian Gregor slices left and right with his mighty power sword cutting and Wych that dances to close while Brother Johansson fires fist sized explosive slugs down range blowing holes in buildings and warriors alike. Next to them you recognise lady Alyss swinging a sword bathed in blue fire, which looks incredibly familiar to Kuros and Val, whe never the blade strikes flesh the scream of victim is drowed oit by that of a scream frim thin air.
OOC:
The drug has not won off yet so Val has no idea.
Mar 30, 2018 12:47 am
OOC:
Does the sword look like that demon sword from the previous mission?

And since the drugs haven't yet worn off...
Val still consumed by his drug-fueled battle rage, sees enemy targets and with a roar, charges down the shortest distance between him and the nearest enemy!
Mar 30, 2018 3:39 am
"Fraggety, frag, frag!" Kuros yells to himself as he jumps out of the cockpit. Slides down the hull of the ship and lands heavily on the ground. He opens up his comm and follows the Space Marine's coordinates. His Infernal Pistol in his hand. When he sees Val he yells to him "You see any more ships we could steal? The last one wasn't very good."
Mar 30, 2018 3:41 am
Val replies, "YAAAHHHRRRGGGGHHHH!" as he continues charging towards the closest enemy!
Mar 30, 2018 8:40 am
Your roar alerts the warrior to your presence to late and you slam into him like a land raider hitting a bouncy castle.
OOC:
Make your attack. Also yes the sword does, the sword that was shattered.
Mar 30, 2018 8:48 am
As Val slices into his target, Val yells at Kuros, "How is it that the Lady Alyssa is in possession of a demonic sword?"
OOC:
If this initial attack allows a half action only instead of a full attack, then this will be a standard attack instead of an all out attack, taking 20 off the attack chance and bringing it down to 78
OOC:
Edit: Oops, also remove the 10 from ganging up. That should not be applied

Rolls

Power axe attack 53 +10 battle rage +10 ganging up +20 all-out +5 good = 98 - (1d100)

(59) = 59

Power axe damage (pen 7) 1d10 +7 + unnatural strength 12 - (1d10+19)

(6) + 19 = 25

Your cleave the warrior in front of you in half with a mighty roar. Inspired by your actions the fighters around you force the dark eldar to retreat. Once the splinters have stopped flying overhead and defensive positions have been established the two space marines and Lady Alyss approach you. "Mighty swing brother!" Brother Johansson laughs.
"I assume your flight didn't work out as planned?" Brother-Captian Gregor smiles as he points to the plume of smoke.
Mar 30, 2018 7:31 pm
Throwing a sideways glance at Kuros, Val says, "Yah, shitty backwards Eldar tech. Can't even construct a flight worthy ship. Isn't that right, Kuros? Nevertheless, if we have time, we may want to salvage what we can."

Meanwhile, Val is thinking, 'gorrammit... that ship was the most advanced piece of technology I'd ever seen....'

Turning to Lady Alyss, Val says, "I have two questions. One, how did you come into possession of a demonic sword that looks identical to the sword that probably killed their Adeptus Astartes brother? And more importantly, second..." Val looks towards Kuros for split second, seeking backup, "... second, what do we get for saving your city?"
Mar 31, 2018 6:49 pm
"Are you accusing me and my family of heresy, welp? My family has served the emperor for hundreds of generations and this was a gift from the Lords of Terra to my ancestors for their service. And come to think of it how do you know the blade that killed their brother? Dont worry I don'texpect a real answer as your too full of eldar drugs to think."
Apr 1, 2018 1:45 am
"Whoa whoa whoa lady! I'm not accusing you of anything! Just curious how you came into possession of a daemonic sword. Not saying that you or your family are daemon worshippers or anything like that. We don't know exactly the blade that killed the space marine but seeing as we were attacked by a daemon wielding an identical sword at the sight of the battle brother's death, we drew some logical conclusions. Don't get me wrong, it's a great sword... but we had to destroy it because it seemed to be the object from which that horrific daemon was drawing its power from. If you and your family can wield it without drawing attention from daemons, hey, more power to ya!

"And yes, I'm hopped up on Eldar drugs... but it's those drugs that helped save your city!

"So sword aside, with no accusations of heresy intended, let's move on to the more important things... recompense in exchange for services rendered?"
Apr 1, 2018 2:17 am
Kuros raises his eyebrows and listens carefully.
Apr 1, 2018 7:02 pm
"Helped save my city? Your bastard pilot friend destroyed more of my city than the Eldar did! As for your transgression I will forgive it and reward you with a potential Captian as I will make sure you never work with my brother again. Once you have meet your captain and repaired any ship you haven't destroyed you will leave and never come back."
Apr 1, 2018 7:22 pm
OOC:
Oh oops. I completely did not realize this was the same lady we rescued from the kidnappers and is the sister of our NPC rogue trader... I thought she was some other random ruler of some random city... I completely missed the plot continuity on this one...
Putting on a much more humble face, Val quickly replies, "Forgive my blabbering, Lady Alyss. You're right, the Eldar drugs and the confusion of battle has clouded my thoughts. I've forgotten my place. Certainly, we'll assist with repairs at once. As for your sword, I urge caution, as we truly did come across a daemon wielding one that looked exactly like yours. We would be willing to recount our entire experience regarding that sword and daemon, if you'll allow it. You may find knowledge of our experience useful in dealing with future events."
OOC:
Val is resigned to follow her orders and will tell her the details of the previous mission, if she's willing to listen
Apr 1, 2018 11:46 pm
She sceptically raises her eyebrow. "Is that right? Ok I accept your apology. I will have you tell brother-captian Gregor your mission details and he shall inform me. As for repairs my brother has authorised you to keep the Eldar ship unless you want something different. So we shall repair and refuel it, while also providing you will food and ammunition, then your warrant will be transfered to Rondezuve Ragnar. Now get out of my sight."
Apr 2, 2018 2:21 am
"Yes Lady Alyss. Thank you, Lady Alyss."

To the space marines, we'll hand over their battle brother's gene seed and Val will say, "It has been a privilege to battle alongside... well, to cover your backs. My offer of providing your detachment with technical assistance remains standing, should you desire it."
When we've parted company from the space marines and Lady Alyss, Val will slap Kuros on the back and say, "We're getting transferred with a promotion!"

Looking at Nas, Val says, "We're going places! Whomever this new Lord Captain is, you'll probably have protection from whomever is after you."
OOC:
Edit: With the drugs presumably wearing off now, what are the after effects?

When we have downtime, Val will pour over the Eldar ship and learn as much as as he can regarding the secrets of Eldar technology.

Kuros goes looking for another ship that he might steal.
Apr 2, 2018 11:29 am
Nas felt a need to say things but stopped himself a few times considering it not his place really to judge or comment.

"I have a general sense of who is after me. But I need time and money to find out who and where they are... after that... it will be then that needs protecting." Nas corrects sighing since he feels winded. Adjusting his gear Nas waits for a good time to use the medkit on himself. "Anyone injured? Besides the guy who died..." he adds.

Remnant sent a note to overratedplayer

OOC:
Val make a tech roll.
You feel fine after the drug wears off. Slightly tired but otherwise fine. You do have the urge to use them again.

As Kuros goes looking for another ship he hears a voice. "Come back. Anything you get will be nothing compared to me."

Nas goes and gets medical attention and then looKs at the note. It is a map to an area you don't recognise with the words whispering Carins in the centre and fallen knight to the side.

After you have gone about your business you receive a comm message . "Meet your captain at hanger 248 in 2100 hours.
Apr 2, 2018 12:59 pm
'These drugs are amazing! And there seems to be absolutely no side effects!' thinks Val to himself.

With the use of his combitool, Val gets to work studying the as yet un-christened Eldar ship. He takes up all the time he's allowed, studying every bit of it, looking into the wiring, trying to understand the machine spirits, identifying the materials used, the power source, and most interestingly, the pilot interface.
OOC:
If possible, Val will specifically try to learn about how to improve its usability, be it modifications to the wing design, rewiring some of the electronics, reshaping the pilot chair to be more comfortable for humans, appeasing the machine spirits, etc. Anything that could possibly give Kuros bonuses to flying and gunning this ship. Secondary to that, Val will try to generally increase his understanding of Eldar tech, hoping to give him some insight should he ever come across more Eldar tech in the future.

Once done, regardless of what forbidden xeno knowledge Val may or may not have gleaned, Val will say to Kuros, "This craft is absolutely amazing. I have never seen anything that comes even close in comparison!"

Rolls

Tech use 60 +10 combitool = 70 - (1d100)

(41) = 41

Apr 2, 2018 6:06 pm
Val has basically just done the introduction day to an Dark Eldar maintenance course. He doesn't know much but he could probably keep a ship running with some trial and error.
Apr 3, 2018 11:51 am
"Look like your down a man since one died in the back. What's the story with him. Com" Nas inquires before stopping himself and frowning, "Nas is fine. If you're in need of someone with a bit of knowledge on military contracts I am competent. So so in battle with large eldar trying to kill you though." he explains.
Apr 3, 2018 1:05 pm
"That guy is Cyrek. He was an Eldar slave we liberated. Didn't have a chance to learn much about him as we were in the middle of fleeing. Though he did say he piloted an Imperial Knight before he was captured."

Val looks at the note in Nas' hand. "I suppose that's the location of the fallen Knight. Perhaps we should inform our new Lord Captain about it and mount a salvage operation.... Perhaps the Omnissiah will bless Kuros with better luck piloting a ground-based war machine rather than an aerial based one?

"And you did just fine against the overgrown xeno, Nas! You took a hit, which means one less hit on me! HA! HA! HA!"
