Gnomes are generally an intelligent and good group. They tend to focus more on their minds as their smaller size tend to make them not as useful as other races when it comes to manual feats. This group seems to have been descended from rock gnomes who spent a lot of time in mountains mining. They used to be seen as invaluable with their small stature allowing them into cracks and crevices that other races weren't able to reach and through years of toil their strength tended to be higher than one would expect just looking at them. With the advent of modern tech mingled with magic their utility has waned and a lot of rock gnomes have fallen to hard times, creating a stereotype of a rough bunch not knowing their current life. Because of this many people with legitimate businesses shy away from hiring them for honest work. This in turn began a chain reaction of chicken or egg. Do gnomes not get hired because they're criminals or are they criminals because they can't get hired?

What's that then Tin Man? Who're trying to talk to? One of the bolder few respond as the rest try to disperse into the crowd.

Josh eyeballs the situation, pondering what the hell the little guys want. He slips his book into his backpack and will a slightly defensive stance, rolling up the sleeves of his jacket and adjusting the metal bracelet on his left wrist.

Rolls

Perception to notice what the other gnomes are doing - (1d20, 1d10)

1d20 : (1) = 1

1d10 : (6) = 6

Something about being marked? Just curious what you are all on about. He says, attempting to shoot them a friendly smile but making a point to not show teeth.
OOC:
And because I'm still getting a handle on the system, I'm going to use presence for that smile, cause I'm so handsom and charming. lol

Josh, you notice the rest of the gnomes disperse into the crowd that's around the pathway but none actually take the path to the Underground, so you know they're near.

To Ethan-
"Easy there Tinman, you might be wanting to not eavesdrop on my conversation. Any marks you may have would be your own. I was saying you look like a bunch of marks. You obviously know next to nothing about anything, so maybe your collective dumbness might be a mark. I don't know I'm no marker. Do you even know what the Underground is? Do you know what's in it? Or do you think this is some magical version of Las Vegas? Come here to gape at the sights, experience so vices, and then go home and not have to worry about anything? All of us know that the mouth to get to the Underground has teeth, and once you're bitten it's hard not to get infected with the darkness. You stand to lose a whole lot. Why should it be someone in there to take it by force when we could with style, out here, where it's safer for all of us? We wanted to rob you, hopefully a quick pickpocket, but you got nosey, and now we have to do this."

The gnomes in the crowd swarm Shani, Crimson Jack, Nukux, and Joshua. The one talking to Ethan starts approaching him.

I know Jack can sub a skill for another with one of his abilities, I'll look into the specific mechanic to see if applies to initiative, if it does and you see this before I post again, and it changes the initiative order just post with an ooc tag at the top so can adjust accordingly. The same goes for anyone else who might have a feature or boon that would affect here. For the modifiers for this I used everyone's agility dice.
Initiative order:
Gnomes- 22 for the folks surprised (everyone but Ethan as he was actively engaged with the gnome closest to him) 17 (for Ethan)
Nukux- 16
Joshua- 13
Shani- 11
Ethan- 6 (but not surprised)
Crimson Jack- 6

I'm a bit confused. Isn't initiative supposed to be rolled using Agility? I'm also trying to figure out why not all of us were allowed a Perception check to spot the gnomes in the crowd...

one of the tenants of the game is every roll matters so as to not get bogged down with everyone doing the same roll for everything so Joshua's perception took that precedence. Because this was with surprise the gnomes initiative used the agility modifier and everyone else used the perception modifier for their initiative rolls. In this case the gnomes got lucky with an exploding dice too which I think is the first one in this game.

Question since shit is about to go down. Is it possible for Josh to use Alteration 5 to change his metal bracelet into his pistol quickly because he has the Fast Draw feat?
Apr 12, 2018 4:20 pm
OOC:
since you have the feat and weapons have properties like swift, I'd count that as you drawing out your weapon which, from what I read is part of your move without taking an action or anything.

sounds good. Thanks!

OOC:
Sounds like we should roll initiative now... Okay, my initiative is 16, ignore the "+1", I have no idea where this came from as I did not wrote it on the die roller. I think the die roller does not allow you to add dice.

GM, when should I roll the Alternation to make the bracelet a gun? On my turn?
Apr 13, 2018 6:20 pm

For ease of everything do at the first part of your turn before any action or movement.
